"Listen, I had a late night craving that was destined to remain unsatisfied." An easy chuckle fell from Sirius's lips. "Just don't tell Rosemerta, I still have to get the singe marks off the ceiling." Sirius didn't mind renting a room in the three broomsticks, it meant tha among other things he was allowed free butterbeers and the company was always unmatched, but it really did not help his already appalling sleep schedule. At the mention of Marlene, Sirius gave Meda a sort of look as he fell into the sofa. "Why don't you tell me about Ted?" Sirius's smile fell from his face, and left his eyes. "Meda...." He sighed, for the moment ignoring the fact his stomach was rumbling at the smell of the cooking food. "I sort of ran into Reg.." He said quietly, his gaze falling to the floor.
Andromeda rolled her eyes as she welcomed him into her abode. It was her own sacred sanctum, a reminder that she did have freedom away from the Blacks even if it was limited. Given how much she loved her family, she couldn't bring herself to shun Sirius like everyone else. They shared similar views; however, she had been more tactful and secretive in her opinions due to wanting to protect her sisters.
"Sirius! You know you shouldn't bother trying to make those. I made some and packed an extra box for you to take home. There are some things you should just leave to me," she teased him. "And yes you have but you know that it makes me float every time you remind me. Now come on in. I want to hear all about your hang out with Marlene."

The last time Sirius had spoken to Regulus was he had been fourteen, and Sirius sixteen. Even now it was a night he remembered with total clarity. He could remember the glint in Orion's eye as he told his eldest son to never return, he could remember how he grazed his knee jumping the last few feet as he climbed out his childhood bedroom window. And he could remember looking through the ground floor window to see his mother cast incendio on his name on the Black family tree, she too had looked at her eldest son through the window pane with a malcious smirk. It was because of the guilt he felt towards leaving Regulus in that hell hole that he decided to follow him. When they came to a stop, Sirius morphed into his human form and once again stood at his natural 6'1. It was always an odd adjustment after hours of looking at peoples feet. And even after just under ten years of changing between padfoot and his natural self, he still twitched for several second after, the fleas really were a pain. He tilted his head to one side as his eyes scanned his brothers face properly, trying to figure out if he was well, and noticing how much he had changed in those eight years. Even still, there was a small glimour of annoyance in Sirius's hues. "Lower your wand." He said firmly. Sirius didn't want to have some sort of confrontation with Regulus, be it physical or otherwise, but he wouldn't just take it either. He had hoped his brother wouldn't be just like the others, he'd hoped he wouldn't be as far gone as Bella, but maybe he was too late. He tried to search his younger brothers eyes, but he wasn't sure he recognised who was looking back at him anymore. "If you think I want to fight you, then I'll just go." He couldn't be entirely sure what sort of training his brother had since Hogwarts, though he could well imagine. Sirius himself had been trained mostly by Moody, so he estimated they would be somewhat evenly matched. As he spoke, his eyes fell onto Regulus's arm, concealed by his sleeve, he knew what was likely there, though he didn't ask. Taking a careful step closer, Sirius's eyes narrowed slightly, "I would never threaten to kill you, so I guess I'd hoped you be someone else."
Regulus was being watched; he could feel it. It was the same intuitive feeling that creeped into his bones on several occasions since he had left his childhood home behind and replaced it for a flat in muggle London. When the realization he was being watched first dawned on him all those months ago, he had thought it was the Aurors keeping a close eye on him. Why would a Black move into a flat in muggle London? It made sense questions would be raised given the current climate of the Wizarding World. After the second time, Regulus had come to realize it wasn’t just any Auror that was keeping tabs on him, but his brother. It felt like a cruel joke. Assign the disowned blood traitor Black to keep tabs on his Death Eater little brother. Regulus was livid.
Despite knowing it was his brother who was watching him, Regulus had never confronted him. Sirius was always gone before he could, and he thought encounter this would end the very same way. Regulus scanned his surroundings until his eyes fell onto a large, ugly and unkept black dog. Padfoot. He hated that he knew his brother’s secret about being an unregistered animagus, and he hated it even more that he would take Sirius’ secret to the grave.
When their eyes locked, Regulus’ face hardened and masked his emotions, his stomach flipped. Before he could make sense of what he was doing, he marched across the street and over to the animal. He half-expected Sirius to run. “Follow me.” He murmured to his brother when he was close enough before turning back on his heel and walking in the direction he had came. He didn’t know whether or not Sirius would come, but when he looked back he could see the animal in tow. Regulus led the way through the busy streets, and to his flat located on the twelfth floor of the residential building, once they were both inside he shut the door behind himself and locked it.
When he turned back, Regulus already had his wand drawn. “You have two minutes to explain why you’ve been watching me for months or I will kill you.”

It often amazed Sirius that a couple like Cygnus and Druella could have created a daughter as decent as his cousin. Sometimes he could have sworn they must have found her somewhere and just decided to raise her, because Meda was nothing like the others. It had meant alot to him when he left home, because he didn't have to feel truly alone. Obviously, he would never say that, but he was pretty sure she was smart enough to know. "Have I ever told you that your my favourite cousin?" Sirius asked with a grin etching across his face. "Oh, oooh, did you make those pumpkin pasties again?" He asked as he stepped inside. " Because I tried to make them.... nearly burnt my kitchen down..."
"You're here!" she greeted as she opened the door wide open. Andromeda always loved her family dinners with Sirius. They were a stark contrast from the family dinners that they experienced growing up, but she was still determined to keep the tradition alive. It was often the only time that she would ever get to see her cousin, especially after he was labelled a blood traitor by the rest of her relatives. Sirius made her both proud and ashamed, not on purpose of course. Meda wished she could have been as brave as him. "Come in, come in! I made your favorites. And dessert. And plenty of leftovers for you to take home."

To anyone who knew Sirius well, they knew that he did care about his blood relatives...at least some of them. He just didn't like to talk about them. Meda being the only exception that. But he never spoke about his parents, his other two cousins and he certainly never spoke about his brother. Despite that though, there hadn't been a day that had gone by since he left that Regulus wasn't in his head. Sirius knew exactly what he had left his younger brother with. He had tried to contact him, though not recently, and assumed that the notion wasn't mutual, because he never heard back. He knew roughly where Regulus was, and that he too had left Grimmauld place, thanks to Andromeda. That was another area Sirius had alot of guilt... Andromeda was probably the best part of their family, she didn't deserve to be constantly in the middle of what Sirius had created. Sirius had gone back and forth about going back to the area he knew Regulus stayed in, he'd been before.... He'd caught sight of his brother and then left. He'd been in his amagius form that day, though he wasn't this time. Muggle London was so odd to Sirius, it felt so different and alot busier, it was more difficult to get a good sense of smell on anyone, even in his padfoot form. He crossed a really busy road, and paused, sensing that someone was watching him. As Sirius looked ahead, his eyes met with his brothers. It had been years since he had locked eyes with Regulus, he wasn't even sure what he was feeling in that moment.

"I have an honest to god day off." Sirius grinned, "Only one though, back at it again tomorrow." He sighed for a moment, not entirely relishing the thought of yet another day going over and over the same activities. Honestly, he didn't really understand what all the fuss was about, they always had to protect their own and the muggles. Taking a healthy swig of his butterbeer, the grin on his face faltered, "I have to talk to you about something...." Sirius never spoke about his family with the exception of Andromeda, but he never spoke about Regulus to anyone. But it was bothering him more than usual. "I think I know where my brother is..." He said so quietly it was barely audible to anyone other than Marlene.
Some days, especially when work was as busy as it presently was, Marlene couldn't help but wonder how her life would be if she'd taken the Harpies up on their offer. How different it would be to spend her days soaring through the sky playing the game she loved, instead of the gruelling work of an Auror?
It wasn't that she regretted choosing to do what she felt she needed to do instead of what she wanted to do, but that 'what if' never really left her. Especially after weeks like the one she'd just had.
Still, there were some upsides, and she felt a smile coming to her face as she entered the Leaky Cauldron and spotted Sirius already waiting for her. At least this career made it easier for her to see him.
"It's not like you to beat me here," she teased, slipping into the seat opposite him. "Should I be worried?"

A soft chuckle left his lips, and Sirius offered a half shrug. "Sounds like an interesting week..." He trailed off and laughed once more. "They sound like they were amateurs though." Sirius had perhaps too much knowledge on the area of sucessful pranks. "My week was... okay." He said, his smile faltering ever so slightly. "Moody's been in... well a Mood. He can't get his head round how to solve the issue of muggles posting pictures of their sightings online...i'm not even sure Moody understands the concept.... Honestly I barely do myself."
the tap might have made her jump if she hadn't recognized the voice immediately afterwards. she turned with a grin before responding. "avoiding you, of course," she said, her voice teasing.
she sighed before continuing. "st mungo's is keeping me busy. you'd be surprised how many wizards have issues with attempting to prank someone and it backfiring on them." it had been a long week of attempting to keep a straight face while listening to people explain why they had suddenly sprouted cat ears or grown an extra arm. "i hope your week treated you better?"

Sirius didn't always like going into the leaky cauldron, in no small part because it was where his boss liked to drink. But there were a couple of exceptions to that rule, James, Remus and Marlene. He had seen Marls at work, but they hadn't really gotten the chance to speak, not with how hard the ministry was working them.
Somewhat uncharacteristically he had arrived first and he fell into their usual booth, ordering two butter beers. Something about hanging around Marlene always soothed Sirius, days had been wasted wondering why that was, but he didn't even bother asking anymore. He knew why. But it wasn't something he wanted to think about too much, just being around her was enough. It had to be. @wildheartmarls

It was never lost on Sirius that he was lucky to have Meda. Although he bad mouthed them alot, family still meant alot to him. If he could just walk into Regulus's life again he would. If he could talk to his other two cousins he would. He probably wouldn't however look at his mother and father again if he didn't have to. But the only blood connection he had was Meda, over the years their connection felt closer to brother and sister than cousins.
Knocking on her door, as soon as it started to swing open Sirius spoke, "Alright let me in I'm hungry" @andromedas-curse

Sirius had meant to check in on Lily for a week or so, he'd just been getting absolutely hammered at work. Moody seemed to be even more aggresive than usual, which meant that Sirius's previous behaviour wasn't really accepted anymore, such as showing up late and leaving early. It was tiring actually holding down a job. But he now had a honest to god day off, and he hadn't spent much time with any of his friends. Spotting the red head, a smile across his face and Sirius tapped her on the shoulder. "And where have you been?"

Sirius was starting to get the hang of some tech, though he had to admit he couldn't quite understand the ins and outs of exactly how they all worked. Magic was logical, there were spells and incantations, some requiring a level of skill... maybe this was the same and he just didn't posess the skill required. Either way, he really enjoyed listening to music on the enchanted phone he had acquired. "Did you know you can just put anything on here? And listen to it? Whilst it's in your pocket? Amazin"

It had taken some time, but Sirius was finally back at training to become an Auror. He wasn’t quite himself, though it would be hard to know that based on his outward appearance. His brothers funeral was looming on his mind, and it was part of the reason why he had forced himself back into something resembling a day to day routine. Yes, he was better than he had been when the news of Reg had first reached him, but he still hurt. He hid that well, and he was enjoying catching up with some work friends in the Ministry lobby. “Its been a long time since I saw you last, how you gettin’ on?”

Influences
To be honest, I could probably talk about Sirius all day, he’s definitely my favourite character in both the books and films. Along with Dirk and Barty, he’s also one of my favourites to write.
Obviously, none of us write an exact copy from the books, but I try my best to keep his fundamental views the same. He’s really just out here trying his best. Theres been three fictional characters who have really influenced my Sirius, and helped with muse. (Luke was actually a close second choice for a fc after Matt.)
Daryl Dixon is another fave of mine, he’s actually a very complex character, and often zigs when you think he’s going to zag. He’s got a tough exterior, which the show heavily suggests is to do with his background and the way he was raised. If you have never watched the Walking dead, the only person we as viewers meet from Daryl’s life before the outbreak is his brother, who pretty much out right says that their father beat them both. I think that his experiences actually made him a better person, rather than a worse person. He’s really a bit of a softie deep down, but could absolutely kill you.
Like I said, Luke was nearly my choice for a fc, the main reason I ultimately went with Matt was because, I have never watched anything Matt’s in, except for one film. Still never seen Shadowhunters Whereas, I watched and rewatched Skins several time, especially the second generation. I think Freddie is lost in life, he knows where he wants to be, but he doesn’t know how to get there. His friends are his world.
Okay so.... in terms of Lip, I actually mean the British/Original version of Shameless However, there is basically no gifs of the og Lip. To me, Lip, along with Ian are the black sheep of the gallaghers. They have the most ambition, but they’re constantly dragged down, especially by Frank. Again, I’m mostly talking about the UK version, which is a vastly different show. Theres more of a community feel to the US series, but in the UK one, it’s actually pretty depressing in the middle seasons and Lip ends up leaving because he can’t cope with his family anymore. Need I say more?
***** In terms of why did I choose Sirius? Basically because I always wanted to write him, from the canon characters he and Ted are the two I relate to most. Sirius just deserved so much more than he got, which is also why our rp is AU, he definitely isn’t the only one who got a shitty deal.
Fresh Start Fever - You Me At Six is his anthem

“I don’t think I’m overreacting either.” She knew she wasn’t. The attack was, and should have been, plenty to be worried about the safety of the students. It’s not like these masked people would just go away when school started. “I did hear.” Anyone in the wizarding world who even half paid attention heard about Regulus. Though she wasn’t entirely sure the truth of any of it. But it was clear from his expression, it was not something Sirius wanted to talk about. Though she couldn’t let the moment just pass. She put her hand on his arm, squeezing gently. While she did have a thousand questions, this was clearly not the time. That point was made obvious with the quick subject change. “He’s the one. It’s been…rather nice, honestly. His mother is kind. And Barty…” She trailed off, tucking her papers back under her arm. “He’s a lot better than I thought someone my father picked out would be. He took me home from St. Mungo’s the night of the attack. Spent the night next to my bed and everything.” She shrugged one shoulder. “He at least doesn’t actively hate me or close to one hundred years old. That’s already better than what I had been expecting.”
Sirius appreciated Georgie not asking anything further about Reg, he would more than likely talk to her about it, just not right now. He gave her a quick smile as she squeezed his arm which echoed how he felt.
Sirius didn’t actually know all that much about Barty Jr, just that he seemed pretty up himself, got his job probably because of nepotism, and was generally considered pretty unlikeable, at least in the circles Sirius was in. He listened to Georgie speak, and a cheeky smile cracked at his mouth, “Don’t tell me you like him.. Sirius chuckled softly, which was actually quite nice, he hadn’t done that in some time. “There are probably worse, like that slimey fucker, Malfoy or Mcnair...” Sirius dramatically shuddered in disproval at the two names which fell from his lips. “Wait.... he stayed by your bed?” Sirius tilted his head, the smile fading slightly. He had always had a soft spot for Georgie, along with the very different, Molly the pair of them were like sisters he never asked for. And he’d take on anyone who even so much as slighted either of them. “Sorta goes against pretty much everything I’ve heard about the guy.”

It was strange to be around Sirius now. He knew her when she was much more free willed, much more rebellious. That was the nature of growing up together. But as soon as he was cast out of the family, she was forced to choose sides. It wasn’t ideal, but at the end of the day, she was still a Black and she would have to deal with the aftermath of any sort of talking back that she did on his behalf. No, it was the safe bet to conform to her family’s expectations.
“I guess it depends on what you order. Chamomile is supposed to be good for sleeping, but a little bit of Dreamless Sleep potion mixed in might do the trick. I don’t know where you can get that aside from swiping it from St. Mungo’s or in Knockturn Alley,” she suggested as she ran her perfectly manicured nail around the side of her teacup plate.
Sirius always found that being around his family was odd. Odd because, in the case of his cousins and his brother he could still feel something close to a connection. Maybe it wasn’t shared, but to him he still felt something twist in his gut when he was around any of them. Something close to guilt or loss. It was never them he wanted to leave behind.
“I try not to use that anymore, I practically relied on it when I was at Hogwarts...turned into abit of an issue for a while...” He replaced it with alcohol, which he was only kicking now. “..Some tea might just do it.” He struggled to find his cousins gaze, but when he did, his head tilted slightly. “How are you away?”
