Eve: A My Candy Love Mafia AU
please read the disclaimer here before reading! thank you!
Prologue: Genesis
The dark room around them grows cold enough to make the small soft hairs on his body stand up straight as he presses his thumbs into the woman’s neck, feeling for the few diminishing pulses she has left. A minute passes after her heart’s last beat, and yet his fingers remain in their place, wrapped tightly around the neck of the woman’s now lifeless body. He slowly releases his grip, dragging his nails across her skin and pushing himself off of her. He sits up straight on the side of the bed and inhales deeply. When did he let himself become so bored? Lysander, a new aged leviathan of pharmaceuticals and street drugs alike, still did not have everything he wanted.
A knock on his door disrupts his train of thought and he welcomes the person on the other side in. His bodyguard, Kentin, ever alert on the other side of the wall between them puts himself to use, desperate for the boss’ words of approval.
“This is maybe what? The third one this month?” Kentin asks while taking the woman’s pulse, his tone careful not to step on Lysander’s visibly fragile state. He takes the woman in his arms. “I don’t mean to sound like I don’t agree with your… uh, lifestyle… but you know there’s something about dead women that creeps me out more than dead guys.”
As Kentin speaks Lysander remains silent and unmoving, his chin resting in his palm as he sits naked on the bedside. His eyes lose focus as he returns to his internal monologuing.
“Are you okay?” Kentin asks, standing by the door, somewhat impatient to exit.
Lysander continues to stare into the darkness enveloping him, his back illuminated only by the hall light coming from the doorway.
Lysander inhales. “’I have no right to call myself one who knows…. I was one who seeks. I still am, but I no longer seek in the stars or in books-’”
“’I’m beginning to hear the teachings of my blood pulsing within me.’” Kentin finishes the quote Lysander had begun reciting, as he did in such times.
In that moment the phone in Kentin’s pocket begins to ring. Kentin arranges the body in his arms over his shoulder and pulls the phone up to his face. After reading the number he quickly answers.
“Kentin speaking. It’s fine…. You’ve said that eight times already. You better mean it this time I don’t think he can handle any more.”
Lysander’s attention is piqued, and he turns his head over his shoulder, listening more intently to Kentin.
“Who is it?”
“It’s Castiel.”
“What did he find?” Lysander’s tone is sharp, his mind coming to again.
“I….” Kentin is hestitant to tell his boss the truth, as the person Lysander has been after for all these years has still yet to be found and every time they come close it turns out to be nothing more than a farce.
“Tell me.” Lysander’s tone is demaning now. The unshakeable man Kentin loves to work for returns.
“They found her. It’s quite a trip though.”
Lysander stands from his bedside, striding towards his closet. “We leave immediately.”
