there's no shame in continuing to live with your parents as an adult, but it does have an undeniable poisoning effect on your brain that you can't start healing until you live somewhere else

how do you be butch while living with your parents holy shit!!! i tried posting this on the butchlesbians sub reddit but it kept getting removed </3
anyways, i'm currently still living at home. i came out to my parents as a lesbian three years ago (which they were supportive of), but i realized earlier this year that I felt a strong attachment to the 'butch' label.
I cut my hair to about chin length in march this year but i'm wanting to go shorter (wanted to have a slightly grown out buzz) but my mom told me that she "doesn't understand why I'd ever want to do that to myself" (meaning buzz my hair) and that she "wouldn't know how she'd look at me" if I did it. she's visibly uncomfortable when I wear/buy suit jackets (ever since I bought my first suit maybe 5 or 6 years ago), and she's uncomfortable when i buy men's clothes instead of women's clothes.
i'd love to hear other people's experiences and how they deal with family judgement.

watching my femme get ready is such a privilege. waiting on her is such a privilege. i love asking her about what she likes, what makes her feel good. i’m mesmerized. i love pulling up fun questions on my phone and we chat while she’s getting ready. or maybe i just stare at her in silence, or secretly take photos/record her because i just want to capture this moment forever
femmes, please always take your time. it doesn’t matter if we’re late. hell, we don’t even have to go. i just want to be present with you

“[k.d. lang] is a woman who was clearly born to perform.”
“Not that you’d necessarily know she’s a woman at first sight. Tall and broad-shouldered, wearing a black cutaway coat flecked with gold, black pants, and her favorite steel-toed black rubber shitkicker work boots, she looks more like a cowboy. Her glossy dark hair is full but short, and when she tosses her head and strides across the stage on those long, strong legs, you suddenly realize she’s moving with a kind of physical freedom you’ve never seen a female singer display onstage before.” (Leslie Bennetts, 1993)
