COMPLETE JOURNEY TO ALL GURUDWARAS OF SIRHIND, FATEHGARH SAHIB, PUNJAB.
Introduction: Punjab is known as the land of Saints and Gurus. So, it is considered a religious land. The major religion practiced here is “SIKHISM”. It would not be wrong to say Punjab as the land of gurudwaras because it has a number of Sikh shrines in almost every city and village.Most of the Sikh Temples(Gurudwara) have historical significance and are related to some historical event of Sikhism.So, to know more about gurudwaras, today I am going to write about the Gurudwaras of Fatehgarh Sahib. The land of Fatehgarh sahib is known by the name of “LAND OF MARTYRS” because here the two young sons of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji (tenth Guru of Sikhs) were brutally killed at this Sirhind, during the rule of Wazir Khan.

I live in Patiala and I usually visit the gurudwaras of Fatehgarh Sahib on regular basis. But this time, I am going to share the important information about these gurudwaras with you.

A COMPLETE JOURNEY TO TAKHT SHRI KESGARH SAHIB (ANANDPUR SAHIB) & ITS NEIGHBOURING GURUDWARAS​
Punjab is the land of Gurus and peer. It is the land of five water rivers and is famous for its magnificent history and culture. Punjab is also a land of Gurudwaras. The principle religion which is being practiced here is “SIKHISM”.
There are number of gurudwaras in Punjab as well as in other states of India in the memory of different Sikh Gurus. Most important are the FIVE TAKHTS:
Takht Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.
Takht Shri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib.
Takht Shri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda.
Takht Shri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra.
Takht Shri Patna Sahib, Patna.
It is the wish of every Sikh to make a holy visit to all takhts once in his/her lifetime. These takhts are the pillars of Sikhism and epicenter of Sikhi.
Being a Sikh, I always remain enthusiastic to visit Sikh Shrines all over the world whether historical or not. I feel the sense of calmness and positive energy from these places. To quench this thirst, I  planned my holy trip to Takht Shri Keshgarh Sahib, Anandpur in the month of November 2021. I visited this place many times since my childhood but this time I am writing about my complete journey to this shrine.

What is the Historical significance of Takht Shri Kesgarh Sahib (Anandpur Sahib)?
Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, is the THIRD takht out of Five Takhts of Khalsa Panth. It is the birth place of KHALSA PANTH. On 1 Vaisakh Samvat 1750 (March 30, 1699 AD), the day of Vaisakhi Festival, Guru Gobind Singh, 10th Sikh guru demanded for five heads from the huge gathering of sikhs. First, Bhai Daya Ram offered his head, second time Bhai Dharam Das, third time Bhai Himmat Rai, fourth time Bhai Mohkam Chand and fifth time Bhai Sahib Chand offered theri heads to Guru ji with great devotion. These five sikhs were from different castes, religion & subcontinents.
Guru Sahib established “Panj Pyaarey” (Five Beloveds) after giving them Nector (Amrit) and sufix “SINGH” with their nameand blessed them with:

SUKHNA LAKE – HEART OF CHANDIGARH TOURISM
The City Beautiful, Chandigarh is located near The Great Shivalik Ranges in Northern India. Chandigarh is the capital city of two Indian states, Punjab and Haryana. It is famous for its clean roads and green lush vegetation. You can even find trees that are more than 100 years old.

There are number of places to visit in Chandigarh like Elante Mall, Rock Garden, Bird Park, Sector 17 Market, Rose Garden, Chattbir Zoo, and many more. But in this blog, I will focus on the famous tourist spot of Chandigarh i.e. SUKHNA LAKE. It is the most visited place in Chandigarh.

BEST WAY TO EXPLORE TAJ MAHAL, AGRA, INDIA
Taj Mahal in Agra, one of the seven wonders in the world is a classic tale of declaration of love by an Indian Mughal Emperor Shahjahan for his beloved wife, Mumtaz. This artistic marvelous masterpiece was built by Shahjahan after the death of his wife during childbirth, as a token of love in her memory.

Taj Mahal is situated at the distance of only 400 km from Patiala, my home town. I booked my train and hotel in the month of November 2021. I started my journey from Ambala Cantt station of Haryana state because there was no direct train available from Patiala City as per my schedule. It took me around 8 hours to reach Agra from Ambala. I spent two days and one night in Agra to visit the famous tourist spots.

When Taj Mahal was built?
Taj Mahal is located in the center of Agra city and it can be accessed by four gates. The construction of the Taj Mahal was started in 1631 and completed in 1653.
It was built by Shahjahan the, the 5th Mughal Emperor of the Mughal Dynasty.
It took 22 years and 32 crore Indian rupees (at that time) to complete this wonderful symmetrical structure.
Taj Mahal was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1983.

A Short Trip To Dholbaha Dam, Hoshiarpur.
What is the historical significance of Dholbaha?
Dholbaha is an archeological site which exists since prehistoric times. Based on the dating analysis of artifacts found here, it is opined that Dholbaha was one of the sites of early inhabited sites of the world.
Most of the discoveries from the Gurjara-Pratiharas and Paramaras dynasties can now be viewed at the Hoshiarpur Archeological Museum.

The famous point to visit in Dholbaha is Dholbaha Dam. It is situated on the outskirts of village Dholbaha in Hoshiarpur District of Punjab state in northern India and is surrounded by hilltops. The nearest famous city near this dam is Hoshiarpur. The construction of this dam was completed in the year 1987. This dam is used for the purpose of irrigation, hydroelectricity, and flood control.

Shimla also famous by the name of “Queen of Hills” is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh state in Northern India. It was the summer capital of India under British Government before Independence and was declared as the capital of Punjab after the independence of India. Then it was made the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is the principal commercial, cultural and educational center of the state.
Shimla is at a distance of approximately 150 KM from Patiala and I have been there twice before this third visit. I planned this 3rd trip to Shimla in the month of November 2021. Previously I traveled there via my personal car, but this time I completed my journey via the famous Kalka-Shimla Heritage Toy Train.

Where is Shimla situated?
Shimla is located at 2276 meters (7467 ft) from the sea level in northern India against the snow-covered mountains of the Great Himalayas. It is also spelt as Simla. It is situated at the distance of approximately 110 KM from Chandigarh, the capital city of Punjab, and 350 KM from Delhi, the National Capital of India. It is a famous hill station in India.

KALKA SHIMLA RAILWAY (KSR) – TOY TRAIN TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
Visiting mountains always fascinate me due to the reason that I reside in the plain areas of Punjab state whose weather remains mostly warm except for the four months of the winter season (November to February). To enjoy the cold weather, the mountains of the Himalayas are the best option.

Out of the various hill stations nearby Himalayas, Shimla is the most famous one and is situated at a distance of only 100 KM from Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab. Although I had visited Shimla twice by car but this time I decided to travel through Kalka-Shimla Rail (KSR). The journey through the Kalka Shimla toy train is a wonderful experience.
