The Fashion of it All
Growing up, I was surrounded by creative inspiration. My mum has always loved photography and interior design, and never failed to encourage me to pursue my thirst for creativity. I would create outfits for my dolls from household items and would paint any surface I could get my hands on. As I got older, I would visit the local Good Sammy’s every weekend and carefully scan the racks, searching for pieces that I could possibly alter in some fabulous way, whether it was through sewing alterations, embroidery, printing, or anything and everything else. Vintage and second-hand finds nurtured my interest in fashion history, patterns formed through re-emerging trends, and the cyclical nature of fashion. Through high school, I knew that my career would be doing something in fashion and in particular textiles - I simply refused to believe any alternative to that fact. So, I carved a pathway that would get me to the career and life that my soul would be satisfied with.
Above: Me in high school holding an award for a red dress I made with cotton roses and a felted silk fibre bodice.
I currently work as a Fashion Production Co-Ordinator and Digital Textile Designer for a Fashion Wholesaler in Melbourne, Australia. I love what I do and am constantly pushing myself to do better with my work. Since the brand I work for is relatively small, I am able to be involved in all stages of the wholesaling process, from design idea conception all the way to boutique delivery and customer purchasing. I love the broadness of my role, and it has been able to open me to all kinds of possible endeavours. It has allowed me to discover and home in on what kind of future I want in fashion.
Above: Printed silk swatches with designs I digitally made.
Along with my fascination with vintage clothing, being immersed in the Fashion Industry has sparked my curiosity about what inspires other designers, and how inspiration is translated visually into their own design language. I believe that the constant need for more and the rising prevalence of “fast-fashion” has caused inspiration to journey to the realm of copy culture. I want to have an open discussion with people, whether they are active in the fashion community or not, as to what defines the difference between inspiration and copy culture. Where do we draw the line between the two? With this blog Ctrl+C, through highlighting important pieces in fashion history and forming patterns between the then and the now of fashion, I hope to facilitate that discussion.

Ohh, gotcha. When you said sustainable I thought of Emma Watson. She's become a champion of eco-friendly fair-trade fashion. A few years ago she made an instagram account @the_press_tour to showcase her 100% sustainable wardrobe on the Beauty and the Beast tour. You might find some ideas there! EW only wears eco conscious clothes so might find inspo there. & Dries Van Noten: DVN has championed faux fur as a signature style continuously being inspired by both animal prints and ethical materials.
That’s so cool of Emma Watson! I’ll definitely have to check out her posts.
Faux fur is great in terms of a substitute for animal products use in fashion, but I kinda have this thing against faux fur...
Faux fur is typically made from acrylic, or some blend of acrylic. Acrylic is plastic, so in terms of environmental impact, faux fur isn’t great. Plastic is melted down and then spun (think sort of like fairy floss/cotton candy). And as we all know, plastic takes an incredibly long time to break down if it ever does break down (I think it’s something like 1000 years? But someone pls correct me if I’m wrong)
If anyone is interested, there are environmental substitutes to faux fur! These include denim fur, recycled plastic fur and hemp fur!

If you’re looking for an upcycled, rough edges, sort of boho look for eco lifestyle I’d recommend Rodarte’s earlier work, Loewe, Ralph Lauren, Junya Wantabe, Dries Van Noten, Haider Ackermann (a bit more polished but still a lot of mixing fabrics), Madison Martin Margiela, Mary Katrantzou? If you look up “upcycled fashion” on Pinterest there are a lot of other runway looks there too~
Omg Margiela is literally my favourite designer 😍 I’ve got a few more eco designers in the works, have any of these designers made it explicitly committed to or built their brand on sustainability? If they have I would love to know more! At the moment I’m trying to do brands that are working towards sustainability, rather than brands jumping on sustainable aesthetics without making any changes to their production process.

Do you guys want to see more eco-themed (upcycled/handmade) cc? Let me know! I’ve got some ideas in the works but want to know what y’all think!
SIMSRUNWAY is back!!!
In celebration of the Eco Lifestyle release (which I am obsessed with btw), I’ve made a new mini collection inspired by one of my favourite eco-conscious designers, Ksenia Schnaider!
Ksenia Schnaider uses off cuts of knitwear and denim to make upcycled clothing. If you haven’t checked this brand out, you can see their real life collection here!
In this collection you’re getting:
- Reworked Denim Shorts in Blue Denim and Black Denim (you need this mesh by @serenity-cc) (download here)
- Reworked Denim Jeans in Blue Denim and Black Denim (you need this mesh by @serenity-cc) (download here)

If you use these recolours, make sure to tag me! I want to see what amazing stuff you guys are doing!
Enjoy and Happy Simming! xo

BABY COME BACK, U CAN BLAME IT ALL ON ME... (and bring some haute couture)
I was fully planning on doing some new cc this weekend but then my computer just died! So I’ve ordered a new one, it should be ready on Thursday so hopefully I’ll get a chance to make some cc then! I’m thinking a collection with a witchy aesthetic in celebration of Realm of Magic (think Alexander McQueen Resort 2019, Ermanno Scervino Pre-Fall 2017, Chanel Pre-Fall 2016)
Sorry I’ve been gone so long bby xo

Do we have yo be a patron to make request or no
Hi! No, no patron is required to make a request - all you have to do is ask! Basically I have a big list on my computer of everyone’s requests and am slowly making my way through them - so even if I don’t publish your ask straight away, I’ve definitely added it to the list! Personally I don’t believe in charging for cc, so I don’t use any money-making services such as patron or ad fly.

Western-style CC
I’m really feeling western style cc (think embellished shirts, cowboy boots and wide brimmed hats) for Strangeville - but I can’t find any that I’m loving.
So I’m thinking about making my own - would anyone else be into that? Or is it just me?
(Think Dior Resort 2018 and Alexander McQueen Resort 2019 vibes but more casual, everyday wear?)
Let me know if you’d want to see some stuff like that!
