Constance Perkins House a cc-free shell by moonwoodhollow This house is among my favourite designs by Richard Neutra, one of the most famous midcentury modern architects, and it's - at least for me - a timeless classic. It only made sense to finally try my hand at building this beauty, and I can only hope I somewhat succeeded.

This house was born when Constance Perkins, an art historian, commissioned Richard Neutra to design a house for her. Her budget was merely 17.000$, and the lot in Pasadena that she bought was small and on a slope, which made the design process somewhat of a challenge. Perkins and Neutra collaborated on the design, and she had chosen him specifically because she liked his previous work: open spaces, large windows, unpainted redwood or stained pine walls and doors. She "wanted a very small house in which she could live and work, but also a place where she could entertain. These criteria required Neutra to reexamine the familiar single-family home [...] and to rework the conventional patterns of the type." (p. 176)

To get to know his client, "he requested [Perkins] write an autobiography and supply him with a list of "likes and dislikes" on every subject from textures to light levels to colors and smells." (p. 174)

When the house was finished in 1955, the reception was mostly positive and Perkins herself was full of praise: "To me, a truly great architect is not one who merely skillfully manipulates a construction to meet the individual needs of a client, important as these are. He [Neutra] is one who, doing this, also creates an "art object." My home is not just my "machine for living"; it is my environment. Living includes thinking and feeling as well as mechanical existence. Living is a way of life. To be full it needs an environment that pricks every sense with which the human being is endowed, an environment that is specifically ordered to give direction to ordered thought." (p. 184)

So what do you get?

The Constance Perkins House is a 40x30 residential lot best placed in San Sequoia on the “13 Acacia Avenue” lot in the Gilbert Gardens neighbourhood. It might also look good somewhere else, though.

The house consists of an open floor plan with a living and dining area, a kitchen, and a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. There's also a spare room that could be used as a 2nd bedroom or as an office. There's a 2nd bathroom as well. The house has two terraces, one has a pool and is only accessible through the living room.

WARM SOCKS

When I made my Chuni, I also made warm socks to go with them! They also work well with ankle boots or sneakers , try them out. With some types of shoes the textures may clip and this is normal, it is not a bug! This will be especially true with above the ankle shoes, as they can share the same textural space.

The entire set is Base Game compatible, with two exceptions: – The "Harmony" Chair uses Spa Day – The "The Art of the First Impression" Front Desk uses Get to Work But don’t worry — I’ve also included Base Game versions of both objects (with functional differences, of course). Via dell'Alpino - a cc-free build by moonwoodhollow

Right in theme with my previous build - it's time for another Euro Summer™ building download. This time it's fictional Italy, aka Tartosa. Enjoy this little reimagination of the premade lot "Rifugio dei Pirati", now coming with an extra shell and a much more detailed interior. Let your sims spend their summer vacation here or have them (re)start their life in this little idyllic place.

So what do you get?

Via dell'Alpino is a 30x20 residential lot that was born out of my dislike of the floor plan from the original Rifugio dei Pirati build. Instead of just bulldozing the lot, as a sane builder would, I changed up the whole layout of the house and added a second building/shell as well. While the original Rifugio dei Pirati house didn't change much from the outside, I completely redid the interior. The house currently has one bedroom, one hobby room (currently a painting room), one bathroom, and a kitchen/dining space, plus a living room. The garden has an area specifically for gardening and a terrace underneath some wisteria (very romantic!).

The furnished house is ideal for 1-2 sims, the hobby room could be changed into a nursery if you so wish.

The shell could be split between 2 families or just one, and is ideal for 2-4 sims.

The lot was created for the Terra Amorosa neighbourhood in Tartosa, but it might also look good somewhere else.

MORE WINGS!!!!

It's just too hard to hide my excitement when it comes to fantasy stuff and I finally got my favorite supernatural: FAIRIES! I felt SO blessed when I figured those wings out because it is a DREAM to be able to make my own fairy wings. I hope everyone haves fun with it too so I can download everyone's tries on it <3

There might be a bit of clipping because I haven't played much with the weights, but they work just fine.

They were supposed to have cute thumbs :( but they wont work. You will find them at the bottom of the wings section, but the thumbs look like the original wings from where I got the resources.

Hidden Palms - a cc build (+ shell version) by moonwoodhollow

It was about time to share this glamorous Midcentury Mansion, because who doesn't want their celebrity sims to spend their summer in one of the most (in)famous mansions of Del Sol Valley? Famed for its house parties since the 1960s, Hidden Palms has been a magnet for Del Sol Valley's crème de la crème, (wannabe) starlets, and other rather dubious important people in the simworld. So let your sims grab their most dazzling outfits and get the party started! This lot comes as a furnished version and as a shell version. I'd also like to thank the person who commissioned this build for allowing me to share it with everyone!

This build was a commission, so I wasn't completely free to build whatever I wanted, but it almost felt like I was. The person who commissioned me wanted a celebrity mansion in a midcentury modern architectural style. It was supposed to be a funky colourful build with warm colours and a proper celebrity vibe. The 2 photos underneath were part of their moodboard, and I really like the combination of wood and stone on the exterior wall and a sort of overhang between the floors. So in this building, I added orange tiles on the exterior walls and overhang-flooring, because there are MCM houses that use colorful tiling details on the facade, and I liked that idea, and it really worked out quite well, I think. The inspiration for the basement pool area actually came naturally to me. There wasn't any particular building that inspired me. I was trying things out and spent a lot of time on the floor plan. Initially, I didn't want to create such a large basement, but as it turned out, I wanted to add a lot of rooms, and the floor plan also had to make sense, so that's why I ended up with such a large build. I could probably write a lot more on the process of building this lot, but I still plan to do a little video tour at some point (?), so I might revisit this build then and give you all the details, if you like!

So what do you get?

Hidden Palms is a 50x40 residential lot best placed in Del Sol Valley on the "The Ward Den" lot in the Pinnacles neighbourhood. There are 2 versions of this lot, that you can choose from:

An almost fully furnished version; Every room except for 2 rooms on the 2nd floor is furnished. On the basement level, you'll get a music studio, a private living room, a bedroom, a bar, a spa area, a fitness room, a laundry room, plus the outside pool with stairs into the garden area on the ground floor. On the ground floor, you'll find a guest bedroom, a kitchen with a dining area, a large living room, and an outdoor barbecue area, plus a lush garden. On the 2nd floor, there's a master bedroom, an office, and 2 empty rooms. Bathrooms are scattered all over the house, so your sims won't have trouble finding them!

The shell version is pretty self-explanatory. It's a shell with the flooring and wallpapers of the furnished version, but that's about it. This version is perfect for people who'd like to furnish the house themselves or for everyone who doesn't want to download too much cc.
