Pentathlon Event 5-Music Spring Big Band Showcase I loved this concert! I’ve never had much exposure to jazz music, but it’s truly a pleasure to listen to. The entire ensemble and every piece was extremely melodious. I noticed how much energy each member put into their instrument and that varied based on the piece.

Pentathlon Event 4-Film Lady Bird @ Hoff I really enjoyed seeing this film. The comedic and dramatic aspects went very well together. I was also able to relate to it because it has to do with coming-of-age. Personally, I think all the artistic elements were done very well and I could really grasp the relationship she had with her mother.

Pentathlon Event 3-Presentation Admitted Students Open House I spoke to incoming students about my experience in Scholars. I hope I provided some useful insight about the program in order to help ease their transition to college.

Pentathlon Event 2-Theatre La Foto @ Gala Theatre This performance was very relevant to the world today. Things like this certainly occur now as a result of increased technology. The actors made the performance quite comedic. Since the play was in Spanish, I was exposed to new culture that will help me continue my aspiration to be a Spanish minor. Overall, I loved it!

Pentathlon Event 1-Dance Mayuri Dance Competition I attended the classical dance competition on campus. I really enjoyed watching the teams from around the country compete. Since I am an Indian dancer myself, this provided me with a lot of inspiration. It’s such an intricate and fluid art form.

Pentathlon Event 5-Presentation Hasan Minhaj Comedy Show This comedic presentation was extremely entertaining. It included a variety of jokes that referenced a variety of current events. For example, politics is a topic of huge disagreement in society. The method of presentation was fascinating. Combining comedy with these serious subjects is difficult, which is why I believe comedy should be considered an art form.

Pentathlon Event 4-Film Girls Trip at Hoff I really enjoyed this comedy. It was part of the Fall Movie Series and I was very touched by the sisterhood that was displayed. These friends had grown apart, but when they go on this trip to attend a music festival they rediscover the old friendships. Although I can't relate to this yet, I hope my lifelong friendships will become reunited in this manner.

Pentathlon Event 3-Theatre Antigone I really enjoyed this performance. I am not a huge fan of Greek theatre, but this wasn't an extremely long show so it kept my attention. Some of the effects were unique and startling at times. There was a lot of loud banging and sound effects to set the sad tones that were needed throughout the show. The characters did a great job of displaying their emotions as well!

Pentathlon Event 2-Music MILCK at NextNow Fest After this artist became popular at the Women's March in DC, I have always wanted to hear her sing live. I think she is an inspiration musician and she conveys and important message that many people struggle with. Especially in college, it is hard to speak up when you need things, but her music teaches us that we need to be open with ourselves. She has an amazing voice and I really loved hearing all her songs!

Pentathlon Event 1-Dance NextDances at NextNow Fest I thoroughly enjoyed this showcase of multiple dancers pieces. Each performance was very unique, but they all had impressive meaning behind them. Sometimes it is hard to deliver such an intense message without using words, but these artists combined many different forms together to make a point.

Pentathlon Event 5-Film Logan screening I really enjoyed this film and I thought that it explored interesting artistic elements. Personally, I didn't have a lot of background knowledge on the film prior to watching it. The journey that the characters went through was very complex and that made the movie more exciting. There were definitely classic filmmaking aspects present, but there was another style present which allowed a comic-book type expression. Overall, this film was an incredible and modern piece of art!

Pentathlon Event 3 and 4-Music & Presentation Concert in Close Quarters: Ahamefule Oluo These artists are so talented and I absolutely enjoyed listening to their music. It was also a very unique experience to be able to engage in a conversation with them and learn how they actually create their music. Their blend of musical instruments was so clean and crisp. I’ve never had the opportunity to participate in a discussion with members of a band so learning how they compose their music was very interesting.

Pentathlon Event 2-Theatre Roe at Arena Stage I truly enjoyed this performance. The actors did an incredible job of portraying this court case which is extremely important to our society. This topic is very important in today's society and in my opinion this is valuable for the younger generation. They need to see these theatrical pieces and understand how they have shaped our society. Abortion is not a light or easy topic but it is fundamental to many aspects of our lives.

Pentathlon Event 1-Dance Company Wayne McGregor Atomos This performance was incredible. The dancers moved very elegantly and skillfully. Throughout the show there were many different configurations which allowed the dancers to use the stage in a very unique way. The 3-D effects in the show added a very special touch because it is not something typical. All these aspects such as the use of technology made it a very memorable performance.

Pentathlon Extra Event-Dance Shard MFA Dance Thesis I absolutely loved both the theses! The dancing and technical aspects were incredible. The first performance used trap doors to describe a provocative evening. The second performance used hip hop dance to explore themes of personal expression in order to show how people can bridge the gap between communities. Each piece was so different but they worked well so together.

Pentathlon Extra Event-Music Daraja Ensemble This musical performance was excellent! The group was very passionate about music and it was evident that they wanted to spread the love. I'm absolutely amazed by their diversify because they have performed in almost every continent. In my opinion, the quintet did a wonderful job of filling the room with peaceful and composed musical pieces!

Pentathlon Extra Event-Dance The Nutcracker I really we enjoyed this show. I've been going to see the show for the past seven years and it never gets boring. Ever year it is so different and I truly enjoy this annual tradition. The dancers are so graceful. It's absolutely amazing to watch the talent!
