We had our @wethreedesign offices painted a few weeks back, and though we can’t enjoy them quite yet, I’m itching to get this specific room decorated. The paint color is @sherwinwilliams Mulberry Silk (sw 0001) and the carpet is @florsquares Finer Things in Cream. We went neutral in the other main office areas, but wanted this smaller room to invoke a deep, moody feel. We are adding a few more rich colors in the furniture and art. We have kept our kitchen busy these past few days. In fact, Eden has crowned herself the in-house baker. Last night she made a GF/dairy free almond sponge cake that was SO GOOD! Home is a reflection of who you are and what you love. Today’s simple tip for your home is all about displaying what you love in a special way. If it’s a piece of art that you inherited from someone close, display it in a way that’s meaningful. I have a few black and white pieces that I adore, so I created a small gallery wall and filled with only neutral art. Or let’s say that you love collecting books and want to arrange them uniquely. Have you tried color coordinating them? Or arranging them vertically AND horizontally? One last tip. My personal favorite way to display items and art is by creating collections. Fill up a whole shelving system with all of your favorite pottery, and then marvel at what you’ve collected. When I styled these shelves for our client, I used only items found at her house. It becomes a treasure hunt when we decide to do this. I walk around the house looking through cabinets, drawers, pantry etc. It’s amazing what I can find being an outside second pair of eyes. It’s easy to store things away and then completely forget what you have. One tip to sort your stuff is to bring it all out, display everything on your dining table and have a friend go through each item with you. We’ve been in the desert of southern Utah for the past few days. Because looking at red rocks isn’t apart of my normal day to day, I cannot get over the gorgeous terrain down here! Shane and I sketched out what our home would look like down here (which is a typical vacation hobby for us) and it resembles this home with a bit more achromatic coloring. Though the soft desert tones are stunning when surrounded by desert hues. If you could build your dream home in any terrain, where would you choose? Surrounded by pine trees in the mountains?
