@opal-tea for yet another Kiesha'ra character, and he is based once again on an old RPG character of mine. One I sadly never got the chance to play and explore because the group shut down.

But now this design gets a chance to shine, and it looks pretty neat. He fits as a son of Velyo due to the blue eyes, but also the group his base design was a part of is connected with wolves. He is honoring his old RP roots.

This is Ravi, his name can be "sun" in Sanskrit. In the Kiesha'ra, the name means “to give or to make something, to make something happen”. I think it fits him well.

Ravi is the oldest son of King Velyo and Queen Shula, the current alpha pair of the Frektane Pack. He might have some younger siblings. Ravi is the future heir and is betrothed to Princess Lulu Vahamil to unite the two wolf packs. Even though the Frektane have adapted to a harsher landscape, I imagine they would very much like to share the benefits of the Vahamil's land. But marriage between the two packs has not always been on the table, namely because the Frektane Alphas tend to be huge jerks and sexist pieces of shit.

Ravi, however, is different. He is kind, patient, and willing to listen to both sides of the story. He has been taught to respect women and is sickened to learn how his father had treated Betia and Oliza.

Ravi is betrothed to Princess Lulu Vahamil and their union will finally merge the two packs together. It doesn't quite work out.

Ravi will also totally oust his father and will drive Velyo out of the pack.

Another former RP character being brought into the world of Kiesha'ra and the Den of Shadows. And she is indeed a wolf because in her old version, her people were associated with wolves and ravens (due to their goddess).

I basically took her old unicorn design (which was a smoky black) and made it into this little person doodle. This is not what she actually looks like, but this character has been tricky for me to draw in the past and I just wanted to test colors out.

In the original group, her name was Lolita. For this new role...I was going to call her Lola, but I think I will instead call her Lulu. It means "pearls" in Arabic.

Lolita was one of my favorite characters in that old group, though I do feel bad I never got to fully explore her character. She was inspired by Alice from the American McGee games and even has a little white rabbit spirit who can be summoned at will. This particular group of unicorns had control over black magic, like hexes, curses, necromancy, and possession.

We don't know much about the wolf culture in Kiesha'ra, in fact I wonder if the wolves are even around during the Den of Shadows, because it just doesn't sound like it.

Not quite sure how I will use her yet, but she definitely is considered an oddball by the other wolves. She likes to be alone most of the time and is very curious. She likes to experiment with things like poisonous plants. And sometimes she might use her fellow wolves as text subjects, she tries to avoid killing them since it can be hard to hide a poisoning if everyone knows she dabbles in such things.

Fun fact for my friend Opal. Do you remember Yelena? Well, in Fawnlings, Yelena is a red Russian sable who is Lolita's pet/ companion/ familiar?

UPDATE: Lulu is not only a member of the Vahamil Pack, but she is also a princess and future queen. My idea is that she is betrothed to Ravi Frektane, the son of Velyo. It doesn't quite work out as either alpha had hoped. Even though her age isn't implied, I am going to assume that Kalisa is older as she is a queen and there was talk of a successor (possibly a heir that Velyo likely was considering courting?), so Lulu is more likely her granddaughter.

So as with my picture of Haris/ Malachi, I decided to take this old picture of Hatia and remake her into Asta. This is the name I chose to give Araceli's daughter who was killed by Brassal during a struggle between him and her mother.

I chose this name because it has two different meanings:

asta: "because, caused by _"

Asta: "Sunset" [Sanskrit]

It just suites her in my opinion.

Unlike Malachi, I did not change anything about the image except the nose. The old one was kind of ugly and throwing things off (as was the case with my picture of Hai), so I changed that. I then updated the colors.

I actually used my old Keyi design colors for this, minus the eyes which I decided to use a cornflower blue. I think she looks quite pretty. Her outfit is still the same, but I changed the colors to ones that have specific meaning (at least in serpiente culture, not quite sure if they hold the same meaning for the falcons).

White represents children, youth, innocence, and purity. Basically, it reflects how Asta was a young girl when she died. Probably no older than Alasdair. I like to imagine that Araceli immediately took to Alasdair because here was a child who looked very similar to the one she had so recently lost. A child who had been abandoned by her own family. Unfortunately, Cjarsa makes it clear to Araceli that they have a job to do.

Silver represents Ecl, the void, etc. Even though Asta did not fall to Ecl like many falcons did during those early years, it kind of...I dunno. But we do know that Araceli has no experience with Ecl and never set foot through those doors, yet she is desperate for a heir enough to think she could save Nicias if he had fallen...I think that would have gone really bad.

Part of me wants to believe that Araceli never really got over Asta's death, even if it had been thousands of years since that terrible day. I imagine she thinks of Asta often, remembering all the happy moments and trying not to think of the bad. I also totally headcanon that Araceli's Burmese accessories were made from the skin of Brassal. She didn't have to kill the man herself, but got the Avians to do her dirty work. Basically, she feels like she has avenged her daughter every time she wears them.

I also imagine that Araceli kind of wants to bring her daughter back, even if falcon magic can't reverse the effects of death. She would definitely compare her children to Asta, which is also why she gets so upset with Sebastian. He is perfect, he shouldn't want to leave. Why? And then to declare he is in love with a hawk?! And then disguised himself as a crow? This is why Araceli was far more severe with her binding of his magic. He pretty much killed Asta all over again in Araceli's eyes.

Given how Hai's magic kept showing her visions of Anjay and the events of the Dasi through Kiesha's eyes (and a little bit of Cjarsa), I imagine Divi might receive visions for both hawk, serpent, and falcon. Many of those might be horrible images, but I also want to imagine she sees some tender moments between Araceli and Asta, and watches a woman be steadily broken over time until she is a cold, somewhat cruel lady we know today.

I had to fucking draw these two, I could not help myself. Anyway, so these outfits are full of my personal headcanons. I imagine the Obsidian Guild dancers tend to wear outfits a little less fancy than the outfits the serpiente and shm'Ahnmik dancers wear. So no skirts or dresses or those super elaborate melos outfits. They need to be practical for their transient lifestyle. So to me, pants make a lot more sense. I also headcanon that they prefer to wear greens and browns, earthen tones to blend in with the forest. Not completely unlike the avians, but I also hc that the avians may venture to wear desaturated blues and burgundys every now and then. I did edit the colors from how they looked in that original drawing so they're more.. like, character appropriate though. I can't draw Oliza in anything except reds and sunset colors lol. OH and I know it isn't quite visible but I hc Betia having freckles bc it's so cute to meeeee. 😭 And tbh I know this isn't the best, I don't really ever draw characters smiling or being happy?? Like ever??? So I know this isn't the best facial expression-wise, but I hope it suffices in satisfying the need to see some lesbians actually being fucking happy for once. We need that now more than ever, tbh. I'll be back in several weeks time with more wonderful bullshit, I prommy.

No longer is she Keyi, because I feel that has such a stigma and I want this girl to be her own unique person. Plus the fact that really I don't think even the best magic in the world can 100% predict the future. There is always a chance for unexpected twists and turns.

This is Divi, the only daughter of Oliza and Nicias. She is the current wyvern princess of Wyvern's Court and has the full power of Anhamirak, plus the royal peregrine strain of Ahnmik's magic. You would be expecting an unstable chaos baby? Not quite. Because her magic is dual opposites, they somehow managed to balance each other out. But it is a very delicate balance.

When I think of Divi in regards to her magic, I often reference Pepa from Encanto. Pepa really does fascinate me because her gift is something good, but can also be bad. She can make it rain to allow plants to grow and feed the town. But if she is upset, then storm clouds appear and it can even get up to a hurricane (such as on her wedding day). We see Pepa stressing out, only to force herself to calm down (often her husband helps). It is not good for her, but it makes me wonder how Pepa worked as a child. We can only assume that the triplets were the same age as Mirabel and Antonio when they got their gifts, so Pepa is a young child who suddenly has to deal with a very big responsibility. Somehow she figured it out, so...Divi somehow does the same but later has a big problem that leads to her own adventure.

And an old RP character getting a new leash on life.

Coming back here with an updated skin tone for Ranya, and also giving her a new place in Kiesha'ra. I originally was going to make her a wolf, but now I am going to honor her favored form being that of a lion. And her hair is still going to be a curly mess (think Rose from Titanic, that was my original inspiration for this character).

I read Promises to Keep from the Den of Shadows series a while ago and while I have many questions that arose from reading that book, I also found some interesting bits.

One being this line here: "The lions were black in human form, but this woman wasn’t just black in the way that humans were; she was actually black, like coal."

Like this is info not really mentioned in the Kiesha'ra books. Like in Wolfcry, all we knew about Tavisan and his pride was that they were well-armed and muscular (and mercenaries).

No idea how Ranya is going to tie into everything for my own Kiesha'ra stories. But I just wanted to update her, and while I feel that she would make a good wolf, I think she totally slays as a lion.
