A Kit for (Fake) Above Ground Pools

You may know the technique for raising a pool using the CFE cheat. See this post or this video. The wonky foundation stuff annoyed me. I ended up making "specialized" objects for it: -> A fence with the look of an above ground pool wall. -> Wall and floor coverings to match it. -> A tall ladder and diving board. The fence has two variations, with and without the half-circle pattern on the "external" side. I did my best to have it line up with the wall covering, but it's not perfect. The ladder and diving board are fully functional and animated. Though as you can see, there is some foot sliding, clipping, and snapping into place. Their target height is a pool raised by six clicks. They can be used with an unaltered one, but the snapping will be more obvious. Both are texture-repositoried to their Maxis equivalents. I included a simple set of recolours for those, seen in the first preview picture. Both ladder and diving board can be placed over fences and walls (by the water) without the MoveObjects cheat. However, placement may still be finicky. Place them directly on the ground. Make sure you have enough space for their full footprints, and that your pool water is flat. Thank you to Gayars for helping me test :) (Turns out pool stuff in general can be tricky. Any ladder or diving board placed on a foundation will have Sims swimming through the ground!) -> Download at SimFileShare.

A while back somebody requested that I edit the nose shine from the recolours that Lilith did of her Feathers skin set, so they would match the other edits I did. Kaldorei Ears

The iconic Night Elf ears converted from World of Warcraft, made into accessories for ages toddler-elder.

After discovering @whattheskell‘s repositored vampire/elf ears I did the same to these ears, which means they will pick up the textures from whatever default skins you use in your game(s1-s4 + alien + mannequin)

The custom colours are based on some of @berrynooboos Seishun Feathers Skins.

3t2 - Vineyard Villa Door & More

If the Vineyard Trellis Door from the Sims 3 'Vineyard Villa Furnishings' store set wasn't so pretty, I would have stopped its conversion halfway through and let it go. As I happen to very much like it, I proceeded to struggle with its faces and vertexes, moving everything back and fro a million times. The result isn't perfect, but it's not terrible either.

The 2-tile door is accompanied by the Hoisted Terra Vineyard Vase originating from the 'Vineyard Villa' set as well, the Trader Ashai's Baskets from the Sims 3 'World Adventures', and the baskets and demijohn separated from the 'Al Fresco Street Market' Share Your Wares Carry Cart. As always, there are plenty of recolors (door colors stated in the file names) and as almost always, each object has two subsets.

HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY, WEIRDSIMS!

I meant to post this at the beginning of the month, but life has been so busy these days!

10 years ago this month, the WeirdSims Tumblr was born!

Back then I was a young 23 year old with the idea for "Weird Sims Through the Ages" where I would show my plethora of strange moments/glitches from playing the game since 2000, then it just snowballed (and the name shortened to WeirdSims) to a point where I think I have over 8,000 posts and 12k followers!

It's been a crazy decade y'all. I never thought I'd still be here today updating this but I've had such a fun time doing it, and I love how many of you have followed along for the ride. Life has been a rollercoaster but I have gotten so many kind messages over the years from people who say they really love WeirSims, and I love it too! It's my own therapeutic hobby in a way.

So keep Simming, thank you for all the support and here's to many more years of Sims being weird!!!

3t2 - 'Midnight Hollow' Door & Windows

After a lot of hair pulling and almost giving up on it, I finally managed to convert the 'Portal of Dreams', the 'Unstained Glass Window' and the 'Cathedral Window' from the Sims 3 'Midnight Hollow' world.

Each of the objects has two groups so that frame and door/window bars are mixable, and of course, everything is color-coordinated. The 2-tile cathedral window pulls its texture from the 1-tile unstained window, with the unstained window being the boss.

There are even diagonal versions, though the wall masks drove me nuts. 😠

Inventory Inheritance

With this mod, when a Sim dies, content of their inventory is transferred into inventory of another Sim who:

is alive,

does not belong to a family of special NPCs,

scored the highest number of points based on their kinship and relationship. In case of many same-scored Sims, one of those who had the highest lifetime relationship with the deceased is randomly chosen.

Additionally, depending on a config version, a Sim has to meet one of additional conditions in order to be considered as a potential heir:

mild: is related to the deceased, has ever met them but isn’t their enemy, or lives in the same household,

strict (with friends): is related to the deceased, is their best friend, or lives in the same household,

strict (family only): is related to the deceased.

As for the scoring, in brief: in strict versions, the kinship-based succession order is strictly followed. In the mild version, the succession order is significantly influenced by non-familial relationships and Sims from unplayable families are chosen as a last resort.

Items that cannot be given as a gift (e.g. HB’s traits), except of urns and gravestones, won’t be transferred. They’re called special items in the inventory inheritance dialog.

Both core and config files are necessary to make the mod work. Use only one config file at a time. You need to have at least one expansion pack or stuff pack installed to be able to use this mod.

Available translations: Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Russian, and Spanish.

Update (29 Oct 2022): Added German translation.

Scoring details

Kinship scoring (multiplied by 100 in strict versions):

+1 – cousin,

+2 – uncle/aunt,

+3 – grandparent,

+4 – nephew/niece,

+5 – sibling,

+6 – parent,

+7 – grandchild,

+8 – child,

+9 – spouse.

Relationship scoring:

-20 – enemy,

+1 – friend (only if not a best friend),

+1 – crush (only if not in love),

+1 – boyfriend/girlfriend,

+2 – best friend,

+2 – love,

+3 – engaged.

Other scoring:

-50 – is in an unplayable family (eg. townies).

Conflicts

Despite a conflict, this mod can work with Better Ghosts - AddOn - SpouseFix by simler90 but must load after it.

The Proper Window

Yeah…the Proper Window…because it’s propped open…you get it? I’m a sucker for a good pun, what can I say? Anyway…

Another new set of windows, this one actually started as a 4T2 conversion done by @cozy-sims, but as with most 4t2 conversions, I hated the textures, hated the mapping, but liked the general mesh that EA came up with and the idea of it. So I took the meshes from there, edited them more to my liking and give them a more general vibe, and then of course recolored the crap out of them in my usual colors, plus added some woven textures. Two subsets so things can be chosen independently.

Comes in two tile, one tile, and diagonal versions of both. 19 Pooklet Naturals and 10 ACYL colors for frame/shade. 19 additional woven shade recolors.

Huge thanks to @hugelunatic​ for helping me with making diagonal versions, enabling hoodview where I forgot to, and fixing wonky thumbnails!
