I was rambling on the issue of museums and human remains and how certain populations are more likely to have their bodies put on display to be gawked at and then went "well I guess the Pompeii casts were of Europeans. there are bones in there right?" and Googled it to make sure, at which point I confirmed that yes there are bones in there, but more interestingly DNA testing revealed that a cast of an adult holding a child everyone assumed was a mother and child were, in fact, a man and a kid entirely unrelated to him. Honestly that's more moving to me. Maybe they were connected in a way other than blood, but maybe a stranger saw a child when the world was ending and thought the one thing he could do was hold them.

I must not engage with the discourse. engaging with the discourse is the mind-killer. engaging with the discourse is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will ignore the discourse. I will permit it to pass over me and around me. and when it has gone past, I will turn to see its path. where the discourse was there will be nothing, and I will remain.

One year ago today, I uploaded the last chapter of I Don't Mean to Pry! In no small measure, writing this story was one of the best times of my life, and continues to inspire me as I've moved onto other projects. (fics included! I've been steadily making progress on Bygone Days and it's become a lot bigger and more complex than I originally thought! So I'm taking my time. & I've been very busy :,,,)
I hope this doesn't seem conceited.

babe. I know we’re all going thru a lot rn but I just wanna give u the heads up that sesame streets future is in jeopardy. hbo has chosen not to renew it for new episodes (a series that has been going since 1969) and the residents of 123 Sesame Street no longer have a home :(

A Bronx-bound #6 train shows off its snazzy new sealed beams as it barrels along under Manhattan in November 1957. The updated headlights, which could be seen from up to 1,500 feet, were installed as a warning system—part of the city’s attempt to mitigate the number of maintenance workers killed each year when they were caught unawares by an approaching train. But the City Transit Authority (the M.T.A. wouldn’t take over until 1968) soon found that the shiny new features offered an added benefit. “The long beams also save platform standees the trouble of craning to see if a train is approaching,” the NY Times reported. “The authority was pleased with the collateral effect of restraining people from leaning perilously from platforms to peer into the gloom of the tunnels.”

Hello internet user whose entire concept of feminism comes from tiktok. In front of you are three ancient myths about women. You have five minutes to figure out which one of them was made up in the 1970s. If you choose wrong, you will be ripped to pieces by Maenads.
