@iamthebonecarver I tried sending it as a message and kept getting an error (still fairly new to Tumblr), so I figured submitting it was just as good?

Reading more Holly Black (The Coldest Girl in Coldtown), she also has a character named Gavriel, and references a Russian myth about Koschei the Deathless. That’s your evil, firebird-queen-capturing death god brother’s name, yes? I’m curious if his myth will tie in to future spin-off books and what he Band of Exiles need to do to defeat him.

I’m also curious if SJM really has gotten these influences from reading Holly Black or if it’s a coincidence that they’ve found some of the same source material.

AHHH. I was reading The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black (Cruel Prince, anyone?) and she mentioned the ballad of Tam Lin, so of course I had to see if it had any influence on Sarah J. Maas’ character, and it totally does! In the ballad, Tam Lin is saved by his true love from the wicked Queen of Faerie. He also shapeshifts. Did everyone else know this already? Because my mind is a little blown.

I’ve had several paintings of Nehemia throughout the years, but only one I’ve finished. Each painting I tried to do, I just felt like never actually captured her. I’ve tried so many times to even come close to this beautiful, strong, amazing princess. I hope I did her some sort of justice.

I couldn’t get this out of my head. It was “paint or die” situation… so I painted.

I always try to look at characters in different way, and with Azriel my mind was haunted not by handsome face, but scars of the past he carries.
