But we really, demonstrably are not. The police said "Luigi Mangione is the one who killed that guy" and so many people just believed it.

Most of them supported him, sure, but they still believed he did it. You shouldn't. I could list all the reasons I personally don't, but that's not the point. Why are we taking the word of the police on this? It was very clearly in their interest to arrest someone, anyone, as soon as possible.

You can support the person who did it (in fact, I encourage it), but don't get them mixed up with Luigi. That is doing the work of the police for them, and screwing over Luigi.
