This is a theme I have always wanted to depict.

thinking about how self-loathing is the core of siffrin's character. so much of siffrin's issues revolve around thinking that there is something inherently, fundamentally wrong with themself. they're disgusting, terrible, a fraud. people only love siffrin because they don't know the truth. but when they do, they'll surely hate siffrin. they'll surely leave siffrin. they'll realize that siffrin is not, and never was, worthy of their time or attention or love. it's only a matter of time.

but then loop is confronted with an alternate version of themself. and they act like a jerk sometimes, but they also show so much genuine care for siffrin's wellbeing. they try to tell siffrin to let go of the things that hurt him, they try to talk siffrin out of doing things he'll regret, they get mad on siffrin's behalf when he's wronged by others. when siffrin is in need of help, they push aside their personal reservations and hurt and complicated feelings about seeing their friends again to do what is necessary to get siffrin that help he needs.

and siffrin, though they find loop annoying, is fond of them. they care about loop deeply and see loop as someone important to them. when asked by loop to kill them, he laughs and says he doesn't hate himself so much that he would literally kill another version of him. finding out that loop was themself all along doesn't make them think any more negatively of loop. it doesn't change how he feels about them. loop is loop. they are siffrin, and they are siffrin's friend.

there's something about looking at yourself from an outsider's perspective, and not feeling any of that instinctual disgust that so often follows you everywhere you go. seeing yourself as what you are, a person. as someone who is flawed, and being able to recognize that those flaws don't make you irredeemable. realizing that you aren't as terrible as you thought you were. and that despite everything, you are deserving of love. because the proof is right in front of you.

CHAPTER 0

Your body starts to feel lighter, unburdened by your organs. Siffrin holds you as tight as he can.

You finally close your eyes.

Nothingness. A dark void of emptiness. There's no stars, no people, no gods… you're alone, but you don't *feel* alone.

Even your body feels… like nothing at all. Your body doesn't feel chained down to the Favor Tree, your soul isn't attached to strings, and you're finally free.

And suddenly, a bright light in the distance. It blinds you for a second.

You decide to follow.

Your limbs sluggishly walk towards the light, your hand outstretched. It's so warm, so comforting, and you're so curious…

The gentle waves brush against Loop's feet, their unconscious body laying on the warm sand.

You jolt awake. Looking around, your surroundings are unfamiliar. The sand under your hand feels rough. You grab a fistful of sand and let it fall through your fingers, blinking a few times.

Fortunately, your sleepiness wears off.

[Where am I?] Is the only thought you can muster up.

[... Why am I here? Didn't I disappear?]

[Okay, let's think, Loop! You woke up on a mysterious island alon— Actually, now that you're looking, it's not surrounded by water. Yay! That's good! At least you won't be stuck here all by yourself!] You grumble and drop your happy mask.

You get up and look around, a million thoughts going through your head.

[I'm not Siffrin anymore, so that's… good. I still have this blinding star head. That's hardly important. Where am I? Why am I here? What happened? The loops ended, right? So why am I here?]

Suddenly, you hear wailing in the distance. Your pace picks up.

Laying in front of you is…

[Okay.]

[Well.]

[... That wasn't something you were! Expecting!]

You're standing next to a CHILD in a broken boat. Focusing on them, they're a YOUNGER YOU. It's almost laughable.

The child looks up at you with tear filled eyes and immediately hugs you. They whisper something that makes your ears ring, yet the words are clear enough to understand. The forgotten language. Your language.

“Guiding star! G-guiding star, help me!”

They sniffle and sob, holding onto you tightly. You can't do anything but stare.

You take a deep breath in and pick up the child, which instantly calms them down. You don't know where to go, really, so you start walking towards the inland.

Right now, all you need is a bed and safe room to think about this blinding situation.
