I was a student at UC Berkeley during the 2000 presidential election. The propaganda at that time was that Al Gore and George W. Bush were exactly the same candidate wearing different ties. There was no difference between them, so you should vote for Ralph Nader.
In 2016 the propaganda was Bernie Bros—and going both ways ("Hillary is an establishment candidate! You're not a real liberal if you don't vote for Bernie!" and also "Bernie will never win! If you EVER supported Bernie you're not a real liberal!").
This time the propaganda was Gaza. "How can you vote for a candidate that is a part of an administration responsible for GENOCIDE?!"
The thing with propaganda is it's always true—kind of. You can go right down the list and see the truth in all of these things:
Both Al Gore and George W. Bush were establishment candidates. Al Gore was the sitting vice president and a career politician and George W. Bush was the son of former president and vice president George Bush, who himself was vice president to Ronald Reagan.
HIllary Clinton was an establishment politican, the wife of a former president, and the sitting secretary of state. Bernie Sanders didn't have the party support to become the Democratic Party candidate on account of his history of independence.
Biden and Harris were in office during the Hamas attack on October 7th, 2023, and the US government has offered continued support to Israel in its couteroffensive.
Those things are true. But the true things were being used to distract the distractible from other arguably more important true things, e.g. that Al Gore's actual policies were more liberal than George W. Bush's; Hillary Clinton's policies were more liberal than Donald Trump's; and a Kamala Harris-led government was going to be better for Palestine than a Donald Trump-led government.
The goal with the propaganda each time was exaclty the same. It wasn't to get votes for a third party candidate or change policy or help Gaza.
The goal was to get liberals not to vote.
And it worked. Every time.
It'll work again, too, if we don't teach voters how to recognize this. It's pretty obvious though. If it's near an election and it's a wedge issue between liberal voters and ultra-liberal voters, that's the propaganda.
And it is 100% active and alive here on Tumblr.

If you need further help in a quick format, here is one, but i urge you to also add in the details for requiring an investigation, not just recount.
I know its a shitty situation and were tired but we still have to try to fight for a life that's worth living.
If you can blaze this post, GO FOR IT!!!

my mom and I are watching the DNC right now and she's feeling the energy too. she's excited. she used to split ticket vote but ever since 2016 she's been straight blue and gone even more left. I have hope 💙
The thing that's been so refreshing about the DNC this year (aside from like, them literally murdering Donald Trump for five hours straight on prime time national TV) is that the Democrats have finally taken back the USA FREEDOM message from the Republicans who have monopolized it since AT LEAST 9/11 and before (everyone once more stare hard at Reagan). That has been used to justify even more restrictive assaults on rights and freedoms, fascism and militarism, etc. (For you younguns, the major surveillance bill passed after 9/11 was literally called the Patriot Act). Basically, if you've been waving the American flag and shouting FREEDUM, you're probably a MAGAist, and that has driven a lot of people away from feeling it and the Democrats from using that message, because they didn't really have a good way to counter it.
But now that the Republicans have gone fully off the deep end of militarized fascist theocratic police state in the name of Freedom (somehow?), and Trump snuggles up to the world's worst dictators and shit-talks America all the time and hurts American people, the Democrats have managed to craft an effective and resonant message that no, WE are the party of freedom and American values-- the best and more aspirational values, rather than the well-known shit ones. And judging from the sheer number of Republican and ex-Trump voters/officials speaking at the DNC, that's reaching and persuading non-Democrats and ordinary people who are responding to an uplifting and joyful message (just as they did in 2008) far more than this constant vindictive hateful negativity and violence that is the only thing Trumpworld is capable of putting out. And I think that's very important.

AOC’s full speech^
Big applause line:
“We know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends. And I, for one, am tired of hearing about how a two-bit union buster thinks of himself as more of a patriot than the woman who fights every single day to lift working people out from under the boots of greed trampling on our way of life.”
AOC also noted that Kamala is “for the middle class because she is from the middle class,” that she has called for a ceasefire in Gaza and return of hostages, and that we need to elect robust Democratic majorities in Congress “so that we can deliver on an ambitious agenda for the people.”

Great news!!
We have to grow this lead. Keep the momentum. The best way forward is progressive, not regressive and reactionary.
The world is moving forward, not backward.

I think one of the reasons the Harris / Walz ticket has so much momentum is because the campaign is genuinely trying to put out this vibe of fun. Like that's all the "brat" thing is, the coconut jokes, just being kind of silly and fun.
And I think it's working, because let's be real, we are all exhausted. It's been all about preserving democracy, defeating fascism, the past eight years. The message has been "vote for us because the country is literally on the line". The vibes are not good when we are stuck back at that fight, and not even discussing trying to make progress on things like housing, healthcare, education, etc. And the fight to just stop fascism? All still true. Project 2025 is real and is extremely scary. We can't let that man back into office.
But the vibe was "vote for us otherwise we're all fucked :(" and now has shifted to "get in, we're making popcorn and then bullying fascists." Like a lot of the issues conservatives bring up, the Harris / Walz is just not engaging them in good faith, as they shouldn't. Republicans bring up abortion, and the Dems are just like, "you want 14 year old to give birth? Weirdo" and just leave it at that. Like YES, that's what you should do. Because it SHOULDNT be a debate. And it's working. This is how you defeat the identify politics thing Republicans have been trying to push for a while. Just mocking them for the stupidity of it all. "Like seriously? You think a book can make someone gay??? Hahaha." None of the Republicans are reacting well. They can't stand it. Vance even complained about bullying!!! Like do you KNOW who picked you as vp??? It's actually laughable, because they have no room to stand on when it comes to bullying.
And a huge part of the mocking and dismissing of Republicans is that the message is clear - were done debating all this stupid stuff. We've won the last two elections' popular vote - most Americans do NOT want christo-facism. It's time to move on. And that's what gives me hope, and the feeling of hope I think a lot of people have picked up on. It's time to address all the issues we've all wished we've been addressing the past decade. It's important we move onto that, and that's the message I'm getting from this campaign (We're not going back). I think it will resonate with a lot of people, because plainly, we're all just sick of this same old news cycle and fake rage bait over things like "should women have rights?", "Should gay people be allowed to exist?" The general populace have answered YES to both these multiple times, and it is time to move on. Maybe I'm being naive, but I am genuinely excited at the idea of putting to bed these debates (it's exhausting trying to fend your very existence) and moving on to actual economic and social policies that could fix a lot of deterioration over the last 2 decades.

As someone who lost their father to cancer I feel this is very important to share. Please vote in 2024, and vote for those who care more about the people rather than bullshit politics.
(I don’t typically talk politics or world affairs but this hit me hard.)

The Republican unquenchable need for control over women/girls, the endless misogyny, and sadistic patriarchy is going to destroy the GOP.
Decency, respect, and trust are on the ballot.

With Kamala/Walz going up DAILY, I've seen more people talking about voting third party/Jill Stein (EW) and I believe the above screencaps from @three--rings can explain WHY Third Party votes NEVER work NOR is this the election to screw around in.
Everyone....like she says above.....PLEASE LEARN FROM HISTORY!!!
(Because if Trump gets in, he's NEVER LEAVING).
