Concept: an apocalyptic or post apocalyptic tv show centred on a group of disabled protagonists
Must include:
-enough details about how they survive that no one can call it “unrealistic”
-mental and physical disabilities
-a character who isn’t necessarily contributing to the survival of the group, but is not abandoned or looked down upon
-at least one character whose disability is actually less of a problem for them now that the world is ending/ended (example: autistic character who used to be constantly overstimulated but no longer is)
Optional features:
-abled person says “the only disability in life is a bad attitude” and gets told where to stuff it
-creatively weaponized mobility aids/assistive devices
-character who abled people think isn’t worth helping because of their disability, but actually has at least one skill essential to the survival of the group
-every time an abled person says something ignorant, all present disabled people look into the camera like they’re on the office

Hello hello!
I know I missed last week, my weekend was jam packed with getting ready to go camping this weekend. Our state just got locked down again but lucky for me, staying in a tent in the woods by yourself is still an allowed activity.
Wear your masks. Please. This pandemic has been going on FAR too long.
Anyway! Back to books! I haven't made the BEST progress on my audiobook mountain, only finishing 5 books in 2 weeks. And this weekend will be spent trying to catch up on Critical Role episodes 113-116 so I don't project much book listening being done.
Ah, well! Next week is a chance to do better!
So last week I only managed to finish 2 books. Not my most productive week, but I'm glad I finished anything at all.
First was The Power of Self Compassion by Laurie J. Cameron. It was nice to learn tricks on how to be thoughtful toward myself, how to turn my mean inner voice into something more tender. The guided meditations and writing exercises are ones I hope to carry forward with me into next year. It was refreshing to curl up at night and just...listen. No hustle and bustle, no concentrating on 2 things at once. Just me and this book. 💜💜💜💜💜
I also finished Ghostsitter: A Crazy Inheritance. This is another middle grade read Audible liked to throw at me for free. It had a full cast and was rather cute, honestly! Totally enjoyable, with a kickass theme song they played between the chapters. The story was very simple of course but the characters were just so fun that I didn't mind. I loved it so much I ended up finding the second one, which ALSO happened to be free on Audible! Can't argue with that price. There are I think 5 books total, but only these 2 have been translated from their original German. 💜💜💜💜💜
After a whirlwind week of packing and grocery order pick-ups and making sure I still have enough hand sanitizer and toilet paper, I was able to finish 3 books this week!
Second Skin by Christian White was a mystery/thriller/vaguely paranormal thing? A little girl named Erin seems to be the reincarnation of a man's dead wife, a woman who jumped to her death after a car crash that killed her daughter. The premise was okay and executed well, but the ending was just a little lackluster I guess? There was a halfway decent plot twist I enjoyed but overall I just felt rather meh about the whole thing? 💜💜💜
With the movie out on Netflix, picking up the first Enola Holmes book seemed like a no-brainer. I didn't expect it to be another middle grade book, but that's on me. It was cute, but overall I felt that things wrapped up too fast? Enola made some good discoveries but I felt that a lot of her 'skills' ended up being more coincidental than anything. Also have to love the rampant misogyny of her brothers, whose only purpose in the story seemed to be for sprouting off how women are the weaker, more illogical of the sexes. Overall this was an okay story that was pleasant without making you think too hard about the actual mystery. 💜💜💜
Lastly I finished......Ghostsitter 2: Beware the Poltergeist! I won't spend much time talking about it, but it was just as cute as the first one. Same cast, same just-right level of cheesiness. Made me smile. The theme song is only played at the end of the book and not between each chapter, and let me tell you that is a shame. A SHAME! 💜💜💜💜💜

Hello!
I know I'm a day late, but I was trying to finish one more book before my weekly update. This week bad a lot going on, so I wasn't able to listen as much as I'd like.
I ended up buying a betta fish! He is a small little guy, who has captured my heart in about 0.2 seconds. Pictures to come soon! I also had several work meetings this week, leaving little time for listening. I WAS able to finish my last three books that were under 4 hours!
The first audiobook I finished this week was Once More Upon A Time by Roshani Chokshi. It was really cute, a nice fairy tale about a couple who thought they were cursed never to love one another, only to find that true love surpasses even witch magic. Yes, yes, super cliche I know. But it made my heart happy, so what's the harm in that? The main characters were great and relatable, the hijinks were hilarious. I only wish there wasn't the whole 'I'm not going to be with you over a misunderstanding instead of talking to you like an adult' bit near the end. 💜💜💜💜
Next was The Supervillain Handbook by King Oblivion, PhD. Very thorough instructions on how to be the best villain you can be. Learned how to avoid cliches, where to hire the BEST henchmen, how expensive building lairs are, and most importantly...how to get evil superpowers. It was a cute, silly book that...I felt went on too long. I ended up speeding it up to 1.65x because I felt my attention span slipping. It was a great concept that just didn't do it for me. 💜💜
And lastly, the book I rushed to finish this morning, Interview With The Robot by Lee Bacon. It was another middle grade read, and a good time through and through. When a social worker sits down with a 12 year old girl named Eve, nothing is as it seems. Some 'plot twists' were pretty obvious while others still surprised me, and I found myself really enjoying this one. The voice acting was a little over the top but the story felt organic, if not a little mean to 'robot nerds'. Worth my time. 💜💜💜💜💜
And that wraps up another week-plus-a-day! Now that I'm into 4+ hour books I expect to be finishing 3 on average, though that might go down to 2 on busier weeks. I feel like I'm making SOME progress, though I keep finding interesting things to add to my library.
Right now I have 111 books to listen to....let's hope I'm able to make that number go down, not up.
