There are two keys ways to reduce both unexpected pregnancies, and abortions, that actually work:
1- Comprehensive sex education, provided just prior to and during adolescence. "Just say no" has been tried for millennia and doesn't work, where-as science backed education around the topic(s) better equips everyone to understand - and I cannot stress this enough - having sex and masturbating are natural, and indeed sometimes social, parts of our existence and there are ways to mitigate risks, has worked in every society which does it. Which incidentally leads to: 2- Provide easy access to contraceptives and sexual health resources.
Now, as an AMAB, that is pretty much all I have to say here. With one final exception:
Ever wonder why campaigners for abortion access use the coat-hanger as a symbol? Because in the absence of legal and affordable access to healthcare, desperate people will act desperately. Banning abortion does not reduce the number of abortions by a significant measure. It just drives people to underground providers or doing it themselves.
Banning abortion won't save 'babies'. It'll kill more people.
“My body, my choice” only makes sense when someone else’s life isn’t at stake.
