Did a ship template! In case the paragraph parts can't be read, they're all under the cut! Had gobs of fun with this one, coloring feels easier when everything is on fire... all of that red hurts my eyes while working on it, though. These two are so important...
What draws them together? They have similar interests (philosophy, science, music, etc.), similar ideals (Chronus essentially acknowledged that Asuka understood The Original's intent the best), even similar aesthetics (similar naming sense, as well as doing cool poses neither nerd has any business doing). Those are the things that drew them together initially—and are still things that draw them together now—but perhaps the most important part is how they care for each other through thick or thin, even through 180 years of separation. The time they spent together is now but a drop in the bucket in their now long lifespans, but both regard this time as important to them. Their love, platonic or otherwise, lived even beyond the cruel passage of time.
What stands in the way? THEMSELVES. They are allergic to happiness and self-forgiveness. Both of them are deeply idealistic people whose actions, while well-intentioned, have invariably caused damage to things they held dear. The world, other people, those close to them. And precisely because they are idealistic and hold themselves to high standards, they find it difficult, even impossible, to forgive themselves. Asuka responds to this by isolating himself. Chaos deals with this by denying himself.
What are their good traits? As a ship, I think one of the good things they have is that they are still pretty interested in each other, despite everything that happened and how much has changed between them. Chaos's voicelines towards Asuka are laced with fondness, and Asuka's still trying to understand what his master is thinking. They manage to be on better terms than any sane person would expect, after the White House fiasco. Both have traits that are double-edged swords—Chaos is incredibly resilient, and Asuka is extremely stubborn. If it goes in the right direction, those traits will help them find themselves again (and each other).
What makes them hopeless at romance? The same things as what stands in the way. These two don't have much rizz, but they are each other's bad bitch they pulled by being autistic. So even if they would probably be bad at romancing most people, they simply don't need that with each other. In a way, they understand each other too well to need that. That said, they really need to talk first, before anything. They need it badly, but Chaos is going to skirt around doing this (really talking) like his life depended on it, and Asuka is going to feel bad about the fact he has needs and deprive himself.
Describe them with one trope: Devotion

Did an art challenge with some dudes to make a gijinka of something! I think I could have further refined this, but didn't have enough time (sad 9-5 worker sounds). I'm pretty happy with it though! I missed drawing afab bods because a lot of my favorite characters tend to be amab...

This is right to left due to the force of habit. I played with some friends who are way above me in skill level and drew some of my experiences eheh.
Me and my friends are represented with characters here, so that's why the Testament is a "he", by the way.
It's my first time playing a fighting game and my friends are really good at it, so I really got my ass beaten. I'm like, stuck in floor 2. I am learning a lot from the experience though, and it's just...it's so new. I wanted to know what it was like to feel like you're having a conversation with someone via a competitive thing, I suppose because I have avoided such things for so long.
Well, though the reality of it is really that I loved Asuka so much I had to play him, no matter what. Well, it's a nice bonus to have a silly badge of "my first fighting game character is Asuka". Jokes aside, I guess... I missed trying new things. And I want to learn to take criticism and advice, so something out of my comfort zone (I avoided FGs for all my life because I believed I couldn't possibly get good at it) works pretty well.
Oh, and... this was exaggerated for comedic effect. I actually had a lot of fun (even if I didn't understand what was going on because my friends had a massive variety of gameplans and were fast).
I don't really know how to say it. I'm having a lot of fun and it's nice to have a tangible reminder of how I can still grow.

I wanted to draw something stupid for them for April Fool's!
I kind of bullshitted as I went, so sorry if it's confusing. The basic idea is, Happy Chaos finds Asuka vomiting and feeling unwell, probably for an experiment, and to call R# for such an emergency, he sends the latter a meme that will boil his blood with so much rage he nyooms at the speed of light to kill him.
I feel like if R# does it enough times, he'll figure out Chaos was just avoiding asking him to take care of Asuka.

I had difficulty finding out what even counted as an evil art style, but I wanted to try doing the evil art style challenge.... (also, I definitely forgot to post this weeks ago).
The first one was using a more textured brush for lines and colors that are hopefully a bit more muted and cool. The second one was... erm, trying to do a shoujo-ish art style?

I love them so much, I HAD to make Christmas art of them. It was so busy this year, and it's a bit late, but hey, better late than never! Happy holidays, and I hope everyone gets a good break!

POV: Your husband and daughter are tired of waiting for you to finish giving the daycare staff advice.
It took me so long to finish this, but it’s a Googol furniture theme. They don’t fit anywhere but they kinda look like a kiddie thing, so I made it a daycare thing. I’m always so soft for zhongxiao + Qiqi family!!
Qiqi’s talisman is just a notepad page with instructions for herself. In a modern AU, she is perhaps a forgetful/easily distracted child and needs the notes. A friend opened my eyes to pastel Xiao and I’ve never been the same since; it looks really good on him! I usually only do white/black/neutral variants on him but now I always want to be accenting him with some kinda pastel.
I totally forgot Qiqi’s braid. Please ignore that.

Noragami AU? I love zhongxiao so much I brainrot on so many AUs for it...
This was pretty fun though; I liked writing the names. I have 0 calligraphy skills but still.
I’ll put AU details under the cut because...it’s kinda long.
First, I must note I’ve read only up to volume 6 of the manga (end of Bishamon arc), so I may get some things wrong/incomplete!
Zhongli is a major god that's a victim of consolidation. You know how some gods get consolidated into one? I'm not sure what will actually happen to them in Noragami-verse. My best guess is—whoever matches the description of the consolidated god more gets to retain the prayers of the new followers, the other/s falling into obscurity. I was thinking the latter is what happens to Zhongli and how he started from being an upper god to low tier nameless god that writes his number everywhere so people call him and he can do odd jobs for them so he gets prayers, in true Noragami fashion.
Xiao is a shinki who's an ex-stray. He died maybe some hundreds of years ago and had the misfortune of an abusive god being the first to name him in true Xiao backstory fashion. My thought is that, shinki are a god's moral compass... but what is that, really, if a god gaslights them really badly/doesn't take notes from said moral compass, all under the excuse that gods can do no wrong? So my thought is, this is exactly what Xiao's former god does. Whenever the god caused him harm, which in turn causes Xiao to sting them (bc he has feelings and being treated badly made him feel terrible) , they would abandon Xiao, erasing his old name, and later taking him back with a new name. Remember that in noragami lore, names are very important—beyond just identification, it's taken as a sign of acceptance, of belonging somewhere, of loyalty and whatever else. The name his former god gave him is wrapped in bandages on his left leg. You know how people tend to hide things they’re afraid of losing? That.
On top of that, I'm thinking he also was forced to become a stray by his old master, who was a minor god. Letting other gods make him do dirty work to earn their favor, stuff like that. The minor god has had a reputation of offering assistance to major gods in difficult situations, and perhaps this is when Zhongli seeks them at some point—not knowing that the reputation was due to the stray they're keeping. And that's when he meets Xiao (it’s the moment that’s drawn here).
Now, gods and shinki (at least, the ones without any shady business) don't want anything to do with strays, who are seen as corruption personified. But Zhongli, who is open-minded in true Zhongli fashion, doesn't avoid the stray. He learns of what his god was doing and decides that the god has fallen into depravity—laying waste to them himself. After that, he sought out all of the gods that named Xiao, asking them to release him, one by one. This gave him a bad reputation because he's a god who's openly involved with a stray what the hell is he doing. After Xiao is released by the last one, maybe Zhongli asks Xiao if he wants to come with him, which Xiao fully wants to do. Then Zhongli names him in true zhongxiao fashion.
Then perhaps some time later (or centuries later more like), religion evolves; Zhongli's godhood got consolidated with some other major god, turning him into a no-name. When this happens, I imagine he'd sit down and talk to all of his shinki about it, and what they would like to do, if they would like to be released. There isn't much future for shinki with a no-name god who might accidentally die and not revive, and since they don't have shrines, well... think of it as living in poverty. A lot of them leave, only a few staying with him (maybe only Xiao, or including other characters like Ganyu or Madame Ping or Mountain Carver etc. if you wanna add more characters to the AU).
And I think that's mostly it, Zhongli then starts basically being an odds job worker with his shinki.
I have a design in the works for what he’d be like in modern times (no longer a stray, etc.) but that’s perhaps for another time.
Funny thought: Like all other shinki, Xiao doesn’t remember his mortal life. Except for Zhongli, everyone thinks he’s some kid around 16-18 that maybe just acts kinda mature. In reality he died as a 23-year old babyface.
Hope you liked it!

More stuff for fun! I basically drew this one day while thinking, “what if I draw my avatar, but Kaine”. And then I proceeded to draw her in my favorite sleepwear. I just love Kaine a lot somehow.
This style of coloring is kinda fun, actually!

A little something I made for the zx1d1w on Twitter, for a prompt some weeks ago! The prompt was “Journey”. I pretty much want these old men to explore leisurely; they both need to take breaks sometimes.
The title is a reference to “Lover’s Oath”, which plays the first time you meet Xiao. The details I referred to are in this tweet! Of course, it’s all conjecture and there’s no canon confirmation; but I agree with this take because the poem describes a relationship that’s been there for the longest time—and remains undying. A long-lasting love that’s been going on for generations, not love at first sight. Not to mention Zhongli matches “rock” better. “Gentle and long” also suits Xiao really well, no? Some people hc the song as being Guizhong’s, but I personally think it wouldn’t be given the only time you hear it in-game is when you meet Xiao. The way it’s also when traveler tells Xiao of Rex Lapis’ death... heart-breaking, no?
(That is to say, all of that above is only my headcanon; I’m pretty sure Mihoyo left it vague on purpose so people can have their own headcanons.)
But yeah uh...pampas grass is light unlike the rock. So Xiao goes yeet. That’s the joke. I think. Yes.
