God I think so often about the Second Kinslaying it's kind of absurd, but there's something so heartbreaking thinking about the potential of having Thranduil entwined with the narrative, esp combined with personal headcanon/conjecture.

Personally, I just think about the possibility of him growing up with Lúthien or at the same time as her, maybe knowing her from afar or being friends in a fashion, and watching her abandon everything for this mortal man, and the struggle it would be to accept her choice while recognizing that he will lose his friend forever.

And then just the idea of him watching Dior grow up (at least seeing it in snapshots) and then watching Dior's children grow up too until their father and mother are slain and the twins are gone, missing, knowing that the children are dead but clinging desperately to the fading spark of hope that maybe, just maybe, they're alive.

Thranduil watches Elwing grow up alone for a time, watches her grow from a quiet and isolated child to a contemplative young girl with far too much grief on her shoulders, watching the spark return to her eyes when she meets Eärendil and falls in love. Meeting their children and being happy that something, something good and pure came from being driven from their home and hoping that wherever Dior and Nimloth are, they can see what their daughter has become.

Only to have it all taken away by the same hands that killed his people and destroyed his home. Really I'm just thinking about Thranduil finding out what Elwing has done and where the twins have gone and fearing the worst, assuming that the worst will come again as it always has.

Because how can he have hope when there is none left?

The fate of Eluréd and Elurín

My personal headcanon is that Nessa found them and brought them to Oropher and Amdír who were migrating to the east with the refugee of Doriath who didn’t got to Sirion.

To hide their identities and protect them they both adopted one of them as their son and gave them new names, Thranduil and Amroth.

1- They are both Sindar so it works

2- It means the three main locations of the refugee of Doriath (Sirion, Greenwood and Lothlorien) get a descendant of Thingol and Dior as their leader 

3- When Oropher and Amdír died at the Dagor Dagorlad Thranduil and Amroth became kings at the same time in canon which is a nice parallel if they are twins

4- Legolas is affected by Nimrodel and Amroth’s love story, that would be super cute if it turned out Amroth was his uncle

6- Amroth love story really have the vibes and intensity of his family

7- Thranduil has a powerful sleeping magic in the hobbit, which is super appropriate for a descendant of Luthien

Feanor, Fingolfin, and Finarfin each mirror one of their parents:

Feanor and Miriel are creative geniuses who lay irrevocable doom upon themselves and their family. -> “But in mood he resembled Míriel rather.”

Fingolfin and Finwe lead the Noldor to new lands, follow Feanor into exile, and die fighting Morgoth. -> “Fingolfin was his father’s son.”

Finarfin and Indis marry into a different culture and refuse to follow their loved ones into exile. -> “Finarfin was of his mother’s kind in mind and body.”

Miriel’s son begins the war, Finwe’s son continues it, and Indis’s son ends it.

Elves at a Party

↣ Maglor - the underground artist who slips 100 dollars for the Dj to play Noldolantë on the system.

↣ Feanor - plays every drinking game and passes out thirty minutes into the game. Found on the dance floor knocked out by 9pm.

↣ Celegorm - he's on Project-X. One of the adrenaline junkies that commits every illegal activity and gets locked up before the night is over. Probably the one who threw the party.

↣ Turgon - the one that stands in the corner the entire party and everyone trust him to hold their drinks. He's judged everyone, got tired and straight up left.

↣ Aredhel - she's on Project-X like Celegorm and they both get locked up before the night is over

↣ Thranduil - hoards the entire drinks table and challenges anyone to a drinking competition, he wins.

↣ Elrond - questioning himself on why he's there. He's the one who ends up drunk sitting all the drunk ones.

↣ Elladan - plays Just Dance and is killing every dance routine

↣ Legolas - Tried karaoke once and sang "They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" became a hit and surpassed Noldolantë that night.

↣ Glorfindel - ate weed brownies thinking it was regular brownies and is now running around fighting every shadow thinking it's a balrog and urging everyone to tie their hair up.

↣ Erestor - the neighbour who calls the cops on them. Or the definition of "I ain't get no sleep cuz of y'all, y'all not gon get no sleep cuz of me"

Sindarin Portraits pt4: Saeros, Eöl, Oropher, and Thranduil.

First time drawing Saeros! He gets the leafy crown since he’s part of Thingol’s court; I imagine Turin rips some of it out of his hair when they have that scene, so um, yeah ^^;;

I also updated Oropher’s design a bit! I drew his initial design for Doriath Week 2020, and I felt that it was a bit rushed, so I wanted to take my time with this one. I’m much happier with it now! :D

And that’s all the portraits I have so far for the Sindar! I think I missed a few, alongside Annael, but I feel like I’ll run out of juice if I keep drawing more ^^;; So I’ll take a little break now, and we’ll see if I get to any more design updates XDDD

I've been reading The Lord of The Rings again. Has anyone else ever noticed that, apparently, Thranduil cajoled Celeborn into re-naming Mirkwood after his son? Eryn Lasgalen = Wood of Green Leaves. Legolas = Green leaf.

That is one well loved elven Prince.
