i make wallpapers constantly. most of them are for friends. they do not ask me to make them, i just randomly dm them wallpapers themed to their interests.

this one was my first foray into a more classic pinterest shuffles style, with the layered collage background!

this is for my oc, maira harbour (find more about her universe at @talewoods )

the older out of two daughters, maira harbour grew up in a small city on the coast of new brunswick. her father, a lighthouse keeper, drowned at sea when she was young, and her mother worked long hours as an adjunct physics professor at the local university to support them, so a lot of responsibility fell to maira

she takes great solace in dance, and is an incredibly skilled ballet dancer. however, due to an accident when she is a teenager she is never able to pursue it.

maira's mother was born mermaid nobility, but escaped the ocean and an unhealthy arranged marriage to marry her father. in the years since his death, her mother has faced both personal and professional discrimination for this, leading her to be isolated with very little support system. part of this is her history with the ocean - the harbours have been tied to the ocean for as long as they can remember, with various distant family ties and long-running magic - but the fear that the ocean might try to reclaim her daughters too haunts her, leading her to try and keep them away from it. maira desperately wants to connect to her mother's culture, but her mother refuses- keeping her daughters away from that world is what all her sacrifices have been for.

maira chooses to study marine biology, to protect the ocean that had been so dear to her father and understand the world of the mother she has always struggled to connect with. however, she knows that this, too will come with a sacrifice

she will only ever be able to see her mother's culture as an outside observer. it will always be a point of research, never her home.

the seaside cliffs of talewoods near her home are a place she has always taken great solace in, comforted by the memory of her father and the crashing of the waves.

an ambitious (somewhat unsucessful) project for one of my favorite albums of all time! it was originally supposed to be for just pink and blue (Louisiana live-oak, crows, mug) , one of my favourite songs off the album, but i couldn't find a good cardboard box photo, so it ended up expanding to other songs - particularly, jenny (motorcycle, setting sun, southwestern ranch-style house), source decay (postcards), distant stations (radio) and best ever death metal band out of denton (guitar, letters)

i had to sacrifice some accuracy for the purpose of aesthetics, but ultimately I'm happy with it!
