The Beginning of The End | Blanche | Prologue End

Everything had started out like the past few days. A little boring, sure, but she was able to have a nice cup of coffee and wave to a few students was on good terms with. One of them, being Daichi Mizushima himself. Though it was clear to see most of the other students didn’t care for his presence, Blanche found herself quite enjoying his company.

But she can’t exactly conversate with the corpse growing cold in front of her, can she? Blanche didn’t even register his death for a few moments, simply staring at the interaction between Ariadne and her victim before a sickening snap rang throughout the room. She watched the life drain out of his eyes, and his form grow slack.

She couldn’t even process all the information. Her mind is completely numb. And yet? Actually seeing someone get killed like they were nothing, right before her eyes? How can someone think they’re high enough to play god? Ariadne apparently did. And Blanche knew that she would make her pay for Daichi’s death.

But as she stands still, clutching her violin to her chest with a vice grip, face growing paler and paler? It seems so far away… 

She finds herself unable to look at the body anymore, so she turns, already feeling tears prick at her eyes. To know that someone she found so similar to her could be killed shook her to her core. Knowing that could have easily been her, gradually her tears begin to show.

But what could she possibly do?

As Blanche is rolling along, deciding where she wants to go first, she gets distracted by the influx of messages on her tablet. Everyone is their own kind of character, huh? As she’s walking along, Blanche lets out a soft “omph” as she bumps into the form of another character. Kneeling on the ground, she rubs her shoulder for a moment before realization hits her and she suddenly looks up.

“I’m so sorry, are you alright?”

Crescent Moon Hotel, huh? In his honest opinion, Daichi hadn’t expected much but it seems things were looking up to say the least. There was a short tour with a questionable outcome. A cute robotic girl clad in bunny ears and a smile that could put others to shame. However, that would be a hard thing to say considering the other students who were accepted on the trip. Daichi knew there was no doubt about him being selected. The crowd that came with was filled with interesting people, though. There are bright colors and lots of attitude with certain specimen. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t excited to meet everyone.

First thing’s first though, he should find his room! It takes the Lucky Student several minutes of idly lazing about on one of the couches in the lobby before he abruptly rises to his feet. There’s not a moment of wasted time as he begins the march over to the desired location. There’s a tablet gripped in his hands as he briskly moves.

Right as he rounds the corner into the wrong hall, there’s a blur of colors and he’s lost his balance. He thankfully manages to catch himself before toppling over, but it seems the other person he made contact with didn’t have the same outcome. It seemed like a girl. Someone with curls, bows, and an adorable face. Daichi couldn’t help but smile as she looked up. She asks something, but he blurts out the first thought in his head like a fool.

“I… Have you checked in yet? Because I’ve been check-in you out since I saw you. I mean–”

His shoulders tense up before he reaches out a hand to her. Helping her up is a good idea, yeah? Manners, Daichi. Be a gentleman.

“I’m fine, don’t worry about me. Are you doing alright yourself?”

Saved it.

Did he just– Blanche looks up at him in surprise, considering calling him out on that pick up line he attempted to cover up. Ultimately, she decides to drop it. But she won’t forget. Taking his hands, Blanche digs her heels into the ground to help herself get up. Aha, now they’re the same height, much better. Actually… She’s taller? Just by a little bit though.

“Thanks! That’s a relief. I’m fine, it’ll take a lot more than a little fall like that to faze me.”

Her eyes land on the young man’s star earrings for a moment before the gears in her head start to turn. Realization fills her and Blanche snaps periodically as she tries to remember something, though it’s muffled by her satin gloves.

“You’re uhh… Daichi, right? The guy who signs off his texts in the group chat with a star? Nice to meet you.”

Blanche offers Daichi a grin, and extends her hand one more. This time, it’s for him to shake.

It was a bit of a whirlwind experience, she had to admit. Blanche never expected that she’d be able to attend the resort, so she’s going to enjoy the hell out of it. The trip over was a bit odd though. She never knew herself to fall asleep with such ease. Well, what’s done is done, and she’s finally here! Ariadne didn’t have to be such a stickler for the rules though, jeez. They’re here to have fun, not be a publicity act.

She only heard about the hologram, but had never actually seen her herself, and she could confirm that the bunny girl was even lovelier than she thought before. Er… Amora, she thinks? She didn’t actually give her name… Blanche skims her head for any information she may have looked up after winning the raffle. … Nope. Nothing.

Though… Blanche could understand not going to the top floors if they held more “adult like” things, but why did they need to stick to the first floor specifically? Oh well.  She did however, take note of all the amenities that were pointed out in their short tour of the first floor.

The Lobby Well... It’s a lobby. It could maybe be a nice area for chatting with people. Nice, but she can’t see herself spending a huge amount of time here. However... Would it be wrong of her to push that bell just so she could talk to Amora? She’s an AI and the rest of the robots are also her so she can multitask, right? She’ll have to put a pin in that thought. Outside “Don’t go anywhere without Mrs. Morietti’s permission,” hmph. Blanche understood that it was probably best to get situated first, but it was a shame she’d have to put off exploring for a time. She’s never been outside of an urban jungle, so the curiosity is killing her.

The Elevators Again, no leaving the first floor. For a hotel that boasts as much as it does, there are a lot of restrictions, huh? They’re just elevators, nothing special about them. She moves on.

The Arcade She honestly had to keep herself from jumping up and down in her excitement. It’s a gamer’s dream! Blanche knows she’ll be spending a lot of time in there... It saddens her that she has to move on so quickly.

Small Hallway Nothing was said about it... Now she’s kinda curious. Maybe after she gets settled in that can be her next adventure? It might be off limits too, but it doesn’t hurt to check? Amora did only specify the first floor being open to them. And it’s on the first floor so...?

The Buffet Urk. Why is she just now realizing how hungry she is? She is practically ravenous. Could go for some sweets and coffee, maybe. It’s difficult to remove herself from the premises.

The Kitchen Blanche doesn’t know anything about it, but Amora said they don’t need to go in there so now she wants to. Hmmm...

The Dressing Rooms They’re separated from the boys’ side, so at least there’s that...? Blanche doesn’t really want to go in regardless.

Indoor Pool It’s an indoor pool. She’s not particularly interested. She hardly knows anyone here. The only thing that catches her interest is the sheer amount of technology in the area. Next!

The Storage Room More unappealing than the pool, if that’s even possible.

Room 4 It’s her room! Maybe she should check it out first? But really, what’s the harm in waiting for a bit?

Items Blanche Gained

 [Lighter] A handheld portable lighter that fits snugly in your palm. Shaking it reveals that some of its fuel has been used, but otherwise it’s nothing special. It’s not a Zippo, but it certainly is a Trident! The brand, I mean.

[Solving Murders for Dummies] The best-selling memoir written by detective Hoshi Hamada. It even has a mini-magnifying glass on the back. Cool!

[Thought Journal] A large journal the size of a novel full of blank pages to write in. It is said that if you were to write your thoughts or ideas down in this journal, it’ll become reality. Some have even tried this with their wildest fantasies, but they were never heard from again.

[Golden Beetle] It’s a fake beetle made out of gold. Looks pretty cool, but you may want to stay away if you’re afraid of bugs.

[Lip Balm] Get soft shine, moisture, and sheer color in one luscious balm that’s sure to leave your lips silky smooth.

[Bouquet of Roses] A well-made arrangement of pink, red and white fragrant roses; they appear fresh, but how have they stayed alive in the machine this long?

[RUN] A t-shirt that simply has ‘RUN’ emblazoned onto it in blood-red lettering. Should you be running? A voice in your head tells you maybe.

[Handwritten Booklet] A book of instructions on various origami constructs that vary in complexity, including cranes, roses, and oddly enough, manta rays. While the letters are a little shaky, the font is large and very clearly readable. There's a rain cloud drawn on the inner cover, coloured in a soft blue. There is also a ribbon on the inside.

[Gossip Rag] A popular tabloid newspaper. The headline “Does Jinan Nejem is Gay?” is plastered over the cover in bold letters, along with a fairly obvious photoshop of Jinan kissing a popular male k-pop singer. Who even pays for garbage like this?! (The answer is you, coin spender.)

[Party Popper] A small plastic cylinder that emits a loud noise and spouts an uncanny amount of multicolored confetti/glitter when you pull the string. Just how much is inside? Only one way to find out.

[Intercepted letter] The envelope is blank, and the paper inside has been torn in half. “You weren’t supposed to get involved, so I have to cut our little adventure short. I think your daughter would be pleased to know that--”

[Bouquet of Roses] A well-made arrangement of pink, red and white fragrant roses; they appear fresh, but how have they stayed alive in the machine this long?

[Discarded Frames] A pair of beaten up glasses that look worn down from years of use. The temples are incredibly bent out of place, the paint on the bridge is chipped, and the lenses are even a bit cracked and smeared with a greasy charcoal. Who could ever find these appealing? 

[Damaged Radio] It’s a mobile, hand held radio! These can be used to listen to whatever station you wished to, on the go! Turning the knob can-- Oh? That’s weird...The radio you hold right now only seems to give off loud static. It’s best that you try to find someone to fix this… 

[Chocolate Roses] It’s a bouquet of roses made from expensive chocolate tied together with a carmine ribbon. There’s a small tag attached to it that reads ”I adore you, my Ruby. Shall we meet again?” Clearly this person is important if they’re spending so much money on them. Oh well, more chocolate for you!  

[Collector’s White Stuffed Rabbit] This rabbit looks like a one-of-a-kind. It has white fur that’s soft to the touch, incredibly fluffy, and has patches of brown occasionally to mimic large spots. The ears are asymmetrical with one propped up, the other down. The thing that makes it stand out is how soft it is. It feels like touching feathers, or maybe the wings of angel. It’s dressed in a feminine outfit meant to mimic a Victorian queen. She has a hoop skirt that’s covered by a dress with many ruffles, satin gloves, and even has a small slice of cake in it’s hand.

[Public Bio] 

     Blanche Higasa is a violinist best known for being quite prodigious in her youth, having broken the world record for fastest violin speed at the tender age of seven by playing Flight of the Bumblebee in just 52.67 seconds. The record has yet to be contested. After this feat, she faded into obscurity before reappearing on the scene five years later. Instead of becoming part of an orchestra, Higasa has instead dedicated herself to performing on her lonesome. Millions who watch her in person and on television are moved by the beautiful stories she can tell through music and dance alone. Higasa has been invited to play at famous concert halls in and outside of the country, but she has declined them all in order to keep performing in Tokyo.

     Upon being accepted into Hope’s Peak Academy, Higasa has looked to other methods of putting her music out into the world.
