It’s funny – that she’ll be the one to die. After everything she was told about mistrials and how they worked, Mayumi is finally realizing what it is – in the most difficult way possible.

“I hope… you aren’t lying, Kou-san. I don’t want… to… say goodbye for nothing.”

It’s always the same. People lie. She believes them. She gets hurt. 

“I’ll grow up strong and healthy for the two of us. ‘Cuz that’s what Minmo-san wants.”

It’s a horrible thought to have, really, but she thinks… at least she can see her dead friends one more time.

Execution Reaction | Ch.4 [2]

9 students left. What a pathetic number.

Igarashi Naeko lied to the group, lied about not killing anyone, and now she was dead. Mayumi was speechless. They promised. They promised that they wouldn't fall to the mastermind, Naeko made them promise. She admitted to her faults as a leader too. Mayumi didn't know anymore. She couldn't trust anyone. She was just scared. She was this reality? Was this her fate? Death and despair? Yes. It appeared so. She almost cried during this execution, but then remembered that Himemiya Otome told her crying wouldn't do anything. She almost cried.

She exited the courtroom and met with Nariko, and then went to the gift shop filled with items that made her remember everyone who died. Funny. No, not really.

Execution Reaction | Ch. 4 [1]

God. Why did Mayumi come to Hope's Peak Academy? Why didn't she just listen to her parents and stay miserable at her old school? Why? Mayumi never had much luck at making friends. But the the people she actually considered somewhat of friends were there, lying dead in the store. Every time she made a friend or did something, they always ended up getting killed, or so it seemed. Misery was better than this. This was despair. Pure despair. If only Mayumi didn't hate Yoshiro, then she'd probably have gone insane at this sight.

She cried. She cried for Hibiki, and maybe Yoshiro, if she didn't hate him with a burning passion. She wanted to run and just leave this insane place. She wanted to go back to school and be herself and live a normal life. No elevators, no hamburgers, no knives, nothing. Normal, quiet, lonely life.

"........."

To a Good Listener [Event]

A voice comes over the intercoms, while the screens by the information kiosk and mounted around the floors light up.

What did the bear want now? Everyone was beginning to hate each other; what more could he want?

…

"Ehh, this is a security announcement! I hope you idiots are happy! Everyone report to Club BR and hurry up! I know how slow you can be."

He doesn’t sound happy. You hurry to the store, wondering what could possibly be happening. The shutters are down and Monobear waits expectantly in front.

"Listen up, kiddos! Have you noticed two of you are missing yet? I would laugh, but this isn’t a laughing matter. Two of your friends and/or enemies decided it would be a good idea to wreck the place. I’m not beary happy with any of you right now!"

He’s fuming. You wonder what could’ve happened.

"None of you are taking this seriously! You need to get ahold of yourselves. There’s no hope and there’s no way you’re ever getting out of here. Now, go see who’s inside. Hopefully they’ll set an example that this isn’t a game."

And with that, he waddles off. The shutters of Club BR open. You all enter the store and are immediately greeted by a mess. Towards the back of the store, though, you’re met with a terrible sight.

I Spy... | Motive Reaction | Ch. 4

A spy? Mayumi could never imagine any of the others to be betraying them, but she had been there in plain sight the entire time. Igarashi Naeko was spying for the mastermind? Mayumi didn't know her, but she couldn't believe that someone would just betray the others like that. Surely it wasn't Naeko's fault... right? Perhaps talking to her and getting to know her better would change Mayumi's opinion about the matter.

As for the motive... Mayumi thought it was kind of weak... more information? Definitely not something worth someone's life... Mayumi had been wrong the first three times a motive was announced... but was someone really that desperate for answers...?

"... Perhaps I should speak with Naeko-san about her motives for spying..."

Fumio Yasu had been impaled. He killed Miyagi Haruna to save Matsuoka Chiko.

Mayumi felt bad... again. And there was nothing she could do... again. She didn't know him, but watching him and Chiko get upset made Mayumi uneasy. Why did this have to happen? If only... if only...

More stores? Huh. No, not now.

"...."

Mayumi saw a few people in the hallway arguing and just kind of brushed the event off. She headed over to her room and slammed the door as hard as she possibly could.

Why? She was just... angry? Walking over to her bedside, she skipped over and collapsed on her bed and just stared at the ceiling.

Case 3 - Wilting Rose

It’s early in the morning and Himemiya Otome awakens. Except something is different… she can see. Startled, she causes quite a stir. The rest of the students awaken and realize they too are cured of their ailments. And that begs the question: what happened?

A search begins to find what could have possibly happened. Yet soon they realize there’s a major problem: it’s not yet 7 am and all the stores are still locked for night time.

Yet as soon as the clock strikes seven, Himemiya enters Bear & Company. A startled screech alerts the nearby Mayumi and Yoshiro. They hurry to the scene.

And soon Monobear appears on the screens, his voice echoing throughout the mall.

"Following a brief period of investigation, we will commence our trial!"
