btw my advice for anyone who wants to read tribe nine ch4 and ch5 + ch3 extra story (until a proper translation comes out) is to install the deepl web browser extension (theres also a firefox ver which I can confirm works bc im using firefox myself!) and translate it through that instead! its extremely convenient since all you have to do is highlight the text you wanna translate and a little indicator will pop up that translates it in a separate window instead of manually pasting it into a translator like so

the default translate function on websites is extremely hard to understand and despite having to manually select every few lines of text due to deepl’s limitation, you can get a WAYYYYYYYYY better reading experience by a MILE. look at this scene here for comparison (browser mtl vs deepl mtl)

the inherent tragedy of Q and kazuki’s relationship is that they’re literally orpheus (kazuki) and eurydice (Q)

ojiro being chosen as the heir to the otori family while kazuki manages to escape the facility, ojiro’s mindset from when he was younger being replaced with his desire for strength from his time in the facility = eurydice’s death

kazuki sneaking into minato tribe and all his efforts in the anime to work towards saving ojiro = orpheus’s journey into the underworld

kazuki saving ojiro at the end of the anime after the chiyoda battle and vowing to work towards being better people from here on out = orpheus taking eurydice back

chapter 3 of the game up until ojiro leaves to fight the UDX robot and kazuki didn’t go after him = the journey back to living world

kazuki looking for ojiro at hina cafe, Q showing up and revealing that he has no memories and in his immediate realisation that things have gone very very wrong, kazuki runs back out (literally turning around) to meet zero where he is finally told the news of ojiro’s death = orpheus looking back thus sending eurydice back to the underworld

both tragic stories of love with similar sequencing, and on top of it all what matters most is that orpheus and kazuki went to hell and back for the ones they loved the most (even if you view ojiro and kazuki’s relationship as platonic, there no denying that he cared deeply for ojiro, love is a broad term after all)

fucks me up that every step of the way kazuki always puts ojiro’s happiness and wellbeing before his own, he really is far too selfless but at the same time I hope Q can reach out to him back and determine his own happiness for both their happiness’s sake especially with the ch5 twist reveal

tribe nine ch3 extra story spoilers

at the end of the ch3 extra story, kazuki wound up telling hina, ichinosuke and saizo the details of ojiro dying and coming back to life as Q after they tried to gift him a beam bat they found alongside documents detailing tenshin’s xb program with the orphan kids from the anime

after dropping this info bomb, they hand over ojiro’s documents from his time in the xb facility to kazuki but kazuki decides to burn it thinking that Q would be better off without his memories of the past. the story concludes with them all wanting to support Q as he is and shouldering the burden together instead of just kazuki alone…

but isnt it still cruel? the akiba siblings have to live with the knowledge that ojiro is gone and the only memories they have of him were from their short time as his vassals. on the other hand, kazuki is the one who knows pretty much everything else about ojiro since his childhood up till now and is STILL the only person who carries this specific burden. with the state of the future and how dangerous its getting, theres no guarantee that kazuki himself wont die himself and have his memories missing in the revival process. worst case scenario this would leave the akiba siblings in the dark forever about ojiro and thats a sad thought to think about

most of ojiro’s life will be a memory that only kazuki will live and die by… doesnt that mean kazuki is still alone in shouldering the brunt of this burden anyways? kazuki……. please
