Last thing I’m gonna say on the matter is that as the societal policing of fat bodies intensifies both on tumblr and otherwise and as ozempic usage and diet culture continues to wipe away the performative faux body positivity companies previously exhibited when pretending to support ‘plus size’ people was still trendy, it is now more important than ever for leftists to give a shit about fat liberation. The diet industry wants to sell us starvation on a silver platter as if bodily conformity alone can nourish us. You can’t topple capitalism without toppling the diet industry and the fatphobia it’s shilled to us in the process. :)

thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.

genuinely kinda tired of how every discussion of trans rights in the uk turns into something about jk rowling. like yes we know every penny spent on harry potter is funding bigotry at this point, but convincing people to stop buying overpriced hogwarts scarves won't magically fix the damage. i just think people are too eager to find a singular villain to pin everything on because they don't want to acknoweldge that transmisogyny is deeply rooted into our society and shockingly normalized, even by those who consider themselves lgbt allies. even by other lgbt people. don't get me wrong, ditch your fucking harry potter nostalgia or die by my blade, but like. i think you also gotta acknoweldge this is much bigger than one rich woman y'know. JKR is a symptom of cultural transphobia, not the mastermind behind it.

It took me way too long to realize this, but: the Valentina parts of TPF #7 aren't about how Valentina was in love with the Queen for a few months. They're about how she's still in love with the Queen ten years later. She talks about how wonderful everything was, makes excuses for why the Queen tried to destroy reality... I think the Queen was the only person (entity, whatever) who really made Valentina feel heard, or like the things she wants were possible. And so she's not over that, ten years and nearly a billion lives later.

[EDIT: Oh, and for another thing: from one perspective, Eliza had to sell her soul because Valentina didn't go along with Etienne and Magus wanting rid of the Queen earlier. I feel like that makes Eliza's insistence on Valentina's confession make a lot more sense.]
