[I made my way to the kitchen and filled the tea pot. I just need to gather myself for a minute. I almost jumped out of my skin when someone touched my shoulder.

“Easy, hermanita it’s just me. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

I wasn’t expecting Esai to be the one who would be checking on me, but I welcomed it. Turning around to face my older brother, I buried my face in his chest.]

  It’s okay, I’m sorry that I am so jumpy. He’s not coming here, right?

[If looks to kill, the piercing blue eyed gaze of my brother would have killed me right there in our parents’ kitchen.

“Juliana Marie, no he’s not. I’ve got you now.”

I inhaled deeply, taking comfort in the smell of leather and Esai’s cologne. He was one of the most feared Mayans, but I never asked why. I really don’t care now. I was happy that he was alive. From the moment that I was brought into this family I’ve been protected by Esai, and I loved it.]

Thank you, Bubba. I’m not looking forward to all the people who are going to show up here.

[The chuckle that came from my brother caused me to roll my eyes.

“Don’t worry about all of them. You just focus on Jax and Abel. Papi and Mama will take care of the rest.”

I could tell that I was blushing, and I hated it. The fact that @ofcrosnangst was here with Abel spoke volumes to whatever we were. When the kettle whistled, I settled in on the serving tray along with mugs, sugar, milk, and spoons.

Pouring some of the tea into one of the mugs, I caught Esai watching me.]

What?

[He chuckled leaning against the counter.

“What are you doing?”

I shrugged my shoulders and smiled a bit as I answered his question.]

Making JT his tea, do you have a problem with that?

[Esai held up his hands and shook his head.]

“No, J, I just found it funny that you remember his tea since you haven’t seen him since you were a kid. Are you making Jax’s too?”

I shook my head as I added honey to the tea for Gemma.

No, he doesn’t drink tea. I’ll make his coffee in just a second.

[Esai touched my arm, and I yanked it away.

“J, people would understand if you weren’t the perfect hostess right now.”

[Anger boiled in my veins, and I turned to face Esai.]

Look, being a host is the only thing that is keeping me sane. Back off!

[I poured the coffee into a mug and added my special touch with the cream for Jax. Carefully, I made my way to the living room handing out the tea to everyone before handing @ofcrosnangst his coffee.]

Be careful it’s really hot.

Not Again

[My hands shook violently as I pulled into my dad's driveway. He met me before I could even park my car. "Mija, I'm so sorry, everyone will be here soon." I got out of my car and wrapped my arms around my adoptive father, Marcus Alvarez. He adopted me after I was sent to foster care when I was five. My biological father, Jesus Vargas was his best friend and VP when I was really little. My father was on death row in Stockton for killing my mother and her boyfriend at the time for abusing me. When I got to work this morning I got a call from the warden that my father was beaten to death in the showers very early this morning.] I DO NOT want Angel here, Papi. [Marcus kissed my hair and whispered. "I know and he won't be. Mijo! Come get your sister huh?" I was confused, but I couldn't form words. Then I hit my knees as my older brother Esai stood in the garage watching me. "J Bug, what's wrong? Did you spend way too much time in Santo Padre? You look like you've seen a ghost." I couldn't move but I was picked up off the driveway by Esai. "J, seriously what's wrong with you?" I looked up at Esai and shook my head.] You died! SAMCRO stabbed you in the head and Papi paid them! [Esai held me tight. "Pop! Angel told her SAMCRO killed me. You wanna call Charming and get Teller here? That's why she disappeared on us." As soon as I was brought into the house I could smell all the wonderful food being cooked. "Esai! She looks sick. Marcus! What did you do to our baby?" My mother the only one that mattered other than Gemma Teller. "Mama, Angel was telling her lies this whole time. She thought Pop had me killed by SAMCRO." My hands were shaking as I listened to my mother. GOOD GOD! NO! Juliana Marie, you know your Papi wouldn't do that! Jax wouldn't either he's your best friend. He knows how much Esai means to you. Is that why you haven't said anything to anyone in a few years?" I nodded and hugged my knees.] I left him, Mama. I left Angel. [I was pulled into a hug and my mother's soft voice soothed me. "For more than the lies?" I swallowed back a sob as I answered her question.] He got someone else pregnant. [The roar of Harleys in the driveway made me want to hide. Not only was my biological father killed, but I'd just broken my own heart all over again having to tell my family that my marriage was over. "Mija, someone is here to see you." I groaned.] Papi, I really don't... [I stopped talking when white Nikes came into view. I lifted my eyes and saw @ofcrosnangst standing at the end of the couch.] Jax!
