"O-oh, uh, okay. Maybe I don't. " Arnold started calmly.
"That's true. But I know that your sister really loves you. And I think she would want you to be in the audience when she plays her Concerto tomorrow night." Once the boy finished his softly said advice, he swallowed the lump that had begun forming in his throat.

“ how would you understand ? you’re an only child, arnoldo. you’ll never know what it’s like, so just stop acting like you get it, cuz you don’t ! ”

♂how do you really feel about Helga? Do you honestly love your daughter?
Send me a ♂ and a question and my muse’s father will answer it. // ALWAYS ACCEPTING. ALWAYS ALWAYS.

“ how do i really feel about — which one, now ? helga ? right, right. she’s got an attitude on her. don’t know where that came from, since her older sister never gave me any lip.
but of course i love ‘er, she’s my kid. if i didn’t, i wouldn’t pay for her shrink appointments or keep her in that ballet class she likes. ”

Arnold almost flinched at the lack of enthusiasm in the girl's voice. It was so empty. It sounded like Helga didn't even care that she was supposed to be bullying him. It was odd, to say the least.
"You don't have to tell me why you're here then. If you don't want to." Arnold started as he leaned his bike against the cement barricade.
"Are you okay, Helga?" God, that was such a dumb question. Even if she wasn't, why would she tell Arnold what had her upset? They weren't even that close. If anything, she hated him.

helga stood on the bridge and stared out over the water below. it shifted softly with a gentle breeze that came right before spring.
she laid her arms across the railing and nestled her head in them. she tried to make out something in the river, but the only thing she could see was the reflection of a dejected little blonde girl.
her eyes closed in the hopes that when she opened them, she’d find a new reflection.

Finally Arnold was able to go out with Gerald and ride his bike. He had been dying to do so all winter, but it was always freezing. So The boys waited impatiently until the snow and ice cleared to break out the old bicycles. They had ridden around town for hours that day. It was the first nice day that the children of PS118 had experienced in a long time. Well, most kids.
As Arnold walked his bike beside him, he squinted across the bridge. No cars obscured his line of vision, but the boy just couldn't see for shit. Was that.. Helga? What was she doing on the bridge at this hour? The blond crossed to the other side of the bridge and slowly approached, making sure to make enough noise with his rubber tires to be noticed. Arnold wanted to help Helga, not scare her.
"Hey, Helga. Is everything okay?"

The young blond cranked up the bass dial on the soundboard and nodded his head. "Light" by Sleeping At Last May not have had a powerful bass normally, but when Arnold put that much power into the bass it made it shine. It also didn't help that it was one of his favorite songs.
The headphones sat snuggly against his ears, killing all foreign noises from the outside world. Although it scared him to do at first, because of the Mugging Incident, Arnold slowly got used to doing it in Mrs. Mason's music room. There was a door, so it was different.
The football-headed nerd began to hum along with the lyrics of the song, unaware of the opening of the door.
