Gender essentialism is still cringe if it is directed against cis people btw. Ive basically had someone say to me that cis people are biologically incapable of understanding less normalized gender identities because "their brains work differently". If anyone has this opinion please come forward now so i can block you thank you. The reason cis people dont understand gender in the same way trans people do is because trans people are naturally more exposed to the discussion about gender because we have to think about it a lot. Cis people, who have never doubted their identity, obviously dont think about it as much, if at all.

Cis people arent inherently more stupid than us, or less capable of talking about gender on a biological level. What would that even look like???

Honestly guys we don't talk enough about how fucking SUBVERSIVE the Gay Submarine Scene™️ in mi8 was (pun intended). That was the type of scene in an action movie where usually the Hot Woman who's there for eye candy for the audience of straight men is gratuitously stripped down in some way and looks indignant or helpless as the Action Movie Men oggle her (a simplified explanation of The Male Gaze). But instead of a woman who's only in the movie for 5 seconds it's ETHAN HUNT, the MALE STAR of the action movie. He's stripped down to his boxers and bashfully admired by several burly men. Captain Bledsoe was very obviously flirting with him. And this isn't even MENTIONING the role that KODIAK played. Her and Ethan's banter was indistinguishable from two sweaty buff male leads in a testosterone-filled 80s action flick who are very obviously eyefucking during their rivalry. Those types of scenes are gay enough as they are. Except in the Gay Submarine, one of the masculine male roles was played by a WOMAN, complete with muscles and short hair and that tired yet eager stare that screams 'dominant,' FURTHER scrambling up the gender roles and throwing them out the window. There was nothing heterosexual about how she and Ethan interacted, just like how there was nothing heterosexual about how Ethan and Bledsoe interacted. The Gay Submarine Scene™️ was queer. it was Lesbian. it was transgender. it was homosexual. it was butch. it was beautiful. AND IT WAS IN A MAINSTREAM ACTION MOVIE SERIES INSTALLMENT SEEN BY THE WORLD. Those types of movies ALWAYS have The Male Gaze scenes. Not Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning. This movie had The McQ Gaze, and the hot woman being objectified was internationally beloved Hollywood movie star and president of movies Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, showing off his tits and the curve of his ass in a distinctly non traditional way. Amen. Tony Scott is smiling down upon us, I just know it.

So - Ghost Protocol - Ethan says ‘only pack what we need’

Benji says ‘you never know’ and packs the climbing gloves.

Later on I imagine - Benji does the cool throw of the climbing gloves at Ethan

Ethan says ‘it’s a good thought, Benji, but I can’t climb in a suit’

‘I know, I packed your climbing gear’

‘I thought I said only pack what was needed?’

‘Yeah but - I’ve read your file. You always end up climbing something - it’s kind of your thing - so I thought - pack climbing gear. Is that - I mean - is that ok?’

Ethan suddenly really impressed by Benji’s foresight, knowledge of Ethan’s skill set and ability to work out what was needed

‘Yeah - yeah, actually Benji - that’s really good thinking - thanks’

And Ethan begins to seriously consider keeping Benji - someone who can not only predict Ethan’s probable actions but fully prepare for them - around for good.

Just watched Final Reckoning oñ IMAX just like TC intended.

It was truly the ultimate cinema experience.

I was constantly at the edge of my seat.

Thank God the seat to my right was empty, so I could lean over in FEAR whenever a dangerous situation happens (it happens every 2 seconds).

Also thank you McQ and TC for slipping in a little something something for the lesbians and the TC cake enthusiasts (I am both) 🤍

My working theory is that the President and the Admiral were once lovers but after the mutual loss they drifted apart. And the President and Miss Walters were ex-wives or estranged wives. Somebody write the fic or I will !!!!!

Bad news for benthanists because they barely interacted throughout the movie!
