skyrim custom followers are great but they set your standards so high. you get two choices. either you travel with a fanmade character that will grow with you and interact with their surroundings or you travel with bethesda's character Finkle Dirt-Finger that only wants to come with you because you beat him up in a brawl and will call you a shithead every time you try to trade with him
