I’m surprised to read about so many fans who hate Malcom and wish for Lyra and Will to be reunited in the Book of Dust 3, completely ignoring all the subtext about Lyra liking Malcom and needing to move on from Will (actually that last part isn’t even subtext it’s spelled out as such in TSC).
Although I understand wanting your OTP to be endgame (and believe me I’m a Will Parry fan) I feel like if the story is leading to a specific place you have to follow it to its natural conclusion. I feel like bringing Will back would negate the ending of TAS and the meaning of the first trilogy :(
