I have read several opinions about Yona’s confession and the following kiss scene. So I thought I might as well make a post about my own take on it.
Personally I think that Hak is now aware of Yona’s feelings. He might have some lingering doubts but I think they are finally on the same page. He has been presented with a healthy dose of evidence that Yona does, in fact, feels the same way. First, there is of course her confession. She said his name with it, so it is clearly directed at him. He heard it loud and clear and was even momentarily shocked before he had to move on to get out of the building. Secondly, there is her reaction upon seeing him. The girl literally burst into tears and was so happy she finally got to see him again. I think this moment took Hak almost even more off-guard than the confession. The latter can be brushed off as sleep-talk, but this cannot. Just look at his expression. He is shocked to the core.
I think Yona’s reaction here combined with her mumbled confession earlier already made him realize she feels the same way. But then Yona went ahead and literally fed him water through the mouth, which, let’s be real here, she would not do with her dragons, or any other person for that matter. There are other options for giving someone water even if there is no ladle. She literally went ahead and chose an option that put them in a very intimate position. Which, again, shocked Hak. Just look at his eyes yet again, the boy is shook.
By this point I think it fully clicked for him that Yona feels the same way. I’m also quite certain that no matter the situation, he would not kiss back like that, if he wasn’t sure that Yona is okay with it. That is just not him no matter how much he missed her.
Long story short, I think he gets it now guys.
My last point is that even if it turns out he did not, in fact, realize Yona’s feelings fully, it really does not matter in the grand scheme of things. An important point that Kusanagi emphasized in the previous chapter is that Yona deeply regretted not confessing to Hak earlier. She was also incredibly afraid she is going to die there and thus fully miss her chance of being honest with him about her feelings.
Which brings me to the obvious conclusion that the first thing Yona is going to do once things calm down is confess to him loud and clear. This seems to be further supported by the fact that she doesn’t seem to realize she actually already mumbled out a confession that he heard clearly. So in her mind she hasn’t said it yet.
TL;DR: I’m quite sure that Hak and Yona will officially get together in the next 1-3 chapters. There is no way this can be delayed even more, unless a new conflict suddenly prevents them from talking so that Yona can’t confess properly or they are seperated yet again. But Kusanagi said this arc is pretty much over, so I don’t see any confict happening for the next few chapters at least.

look im not saying Hak should be endangered again so soon but im saying that the only acceptable way for Soo won to show after a year of absence is to gallantly save a nearly-unconscious amid-enemies&blazes Hak and thats that on that

I would so want that to happen. Su-won has been absent for so many chapters and I need interaction with him and Hak. but I don't want to get my hopes up... So I don't think that scenario is very likely.... Still it's a beautiful dream *cries*
So it just occurred to me, in light of Gobi still lurking around and Hak being left behind SERIOUSLY INJURED in the castle momentarily AND the fact that Gobi probably witnessed that make out session, I’m thinking his thought process right now is somewhere along the lines of “Yona won’t use the dragons powers to help herself, but MAYBE...”
Hi!
Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past him? But there’s the question of what can he do to Hak, of all people? He’s left pinned against the wall by Hak’s spear and terrorised by his threats; he’s also alone and defenceless, and even if his henchmen came back I’d say priority numero uno is to get the f*ck out of the toasty fire, so my guess is that he can’t really scheme anything dragon related at this point. I think if he’s going to cause any more damage it would be pushing Hak into the fire in order to escape, or some other antic that’ll max our frustration even more, but the situation is pretty dire for him to be thinking what strings to pull to specifically get the dragons to react a certain way.
I suspect we might still get some Hak in a burning building angst in the next chapter, though. Maybe the roof falls down?! Maybe Gobi does try something shady?! Maybe this is where Gobi spills all the religious secrets we’ve been wanting to know and finally brings some value to the narrative?! It’s a weird note to leave the chapter on so it seems likely that there’ll be trouble in some form.
(Also, I’ve seen a theory floating around tumblr that this’ll be where Su-Won finally appears and saves Hak from the burning building. I’m not-so-secretly actually rooting for that to happen.)

I really like Kusanagi's way of handling her characters. They're so round and interesting and she has excelled at their character development.
Yona is such a great female lead and I love hearing about her inner thoughts- the conclusions she came to when finally learning about the world and the people of Kouka, what she thinks of Soo-won now that she looks at things from a more objective viewpoint. She has grown so much and it was really rewarding to watch her go from this fragile princess to this strong and determined young woman.
I was so happy when we got to see some development on Hak's part too. It's heart wrenching to see how much that betrayal hurt him and how he struggles to control his anger. He never really confronted his feelings so it's good to see him move into a better direction.
Also the HakYona development. Do I have to say anything? I was rather impartial to their relationship when I first started the series ages ago but THIS IS SO GOOD. Kusanagi really outdid herself with how complex and loving their relationship is.
Soo-won is probably my favorite antagonist and I absolutely love interactions between him and the other two. There's so much about his motives that we know nothing about yet and I'm looking forward to more revelations.
I like how nothing in Akayona is only black and white. No one is really purely evil: Everyone has their motivation and it makes you really think about what drives them.
The way the happy hungry bunch grew to a close family is also so heartwarming. I absolutely love their interactions and responsible big bro jae-ha looking out for everyone even if Zeno is so much older than him

Akatsuki no Yona Chapter 175 Thoughts
Reading this before lecture started was not a good idea hahaha! You will find out why when you read this chapter. My heart is so full, thank you Kusanagi sensei for this chapter, I am so grateful!
This chapter starts off where it left off in the last chapter, with Hak finding where Yona was, in the midst of the smoke and fire. He was extremely furious to see her legs chained up, and he holds her tightly yet endearingly to him. He then hears Yona’s confession, and just as he was about to question her, he notices the fire spreading, and immediately runs away with her in his arms.
Yona finally awakens as they were running, and she cries out, saying she finally is reunited with Hak again. She must have been feeling so frustrated and desperate all this while. Hak, upon hearing that, squeezes her tightly to his chest (AWWWW) and thanks her for being alive. The look on his face just give me so much feels and my heart ache just looking at the both of them.
Yona then was about to reply him, when she starts coughing from too much smoke inhalation. Hak then proceeds to break of her chains, and they began talking about Kuelbo and Yoo-Lan, a little bit of a comic relief in the midst of the feels. AND everyone, pls notice Ao, our cute little squirrel in the middle of this conversation. Ao is just too adorable for words. And apparently, the asshole priest Gobi (don’t mind my words) is still alive. (damn, how i wished he had died in the fire oops!)
We then have a short cut-scene of Vold and Algira, who are luckily not fatally injured and they went to get help, seeing as the fire is too big to do anything.
Hak, in the midst of running, staggers and falls under his severe injuries, and Yona runs to get water. Here comes the best part! Seeing as there is no ladle for the water, she uses her mouth to transfer water to Hak! Omg, this is the best scene ever!! Hak, obviously, was shocked at her actions, but immediately recovers to keep kissing her, even though there was no water left to transfer. Damn, his expression when kissing her is precious, the raw desire and passion he has for Yona. This kinda reminds me of scenes where Hak kept telling himself and mentioned to Yona before, about the strong desire he has for Yona. This scene shows the intensity of that, and omg, my heart is complete. My life is complete. OUR MAIN COUPLE HAVE FINALLY KISSED!! THANK THE AUTHOR!! FINALLY!!
When they finally parted, they began to escape from the fire again. Hak probably got energy from the kiss LOL! And our stupid priest is back again, threatened by our dear Hak. Good job Hak! I hope that priest takes your threat seriously this time, and leave Yona and the dragons alone for real. They have been through enough.
Jaeha, in a completely splendid and fabulous way that is uniquely his, flies in to help them escape. That landing was so awesome, plus his wink too LOL. He is just so endearing man, spoiling all my bias. Yona asks for Jaeha to bring Hak out first, but Hak immediately rejects it, causing Yona to look at Hak so endearingly and worried too, which Hak, whom I assumed is still shocked at her confession and kiss, looks back at her a little confusingly. Jaeha, our gentleman, reassures Yona that he will come straight back for Hak and tells her that everyone is okay and they can go home, to Kouka. AWWWWWW, FINALLY!! The intense and tension filled chapters are finally starting to come to a close.
This was overall a fulfilling chapter for me, my heart is so full. As you can tell from my long review, I am absolutely over the moon! Our canon ship has finally sailed!! I mean although we all knew it was going to happen, but what exactly and how exactly we obviously didn’t know, and I absolutely didn’t expect it to happen like this, which is why I am so surprised and happy! Please go read this chapter, for everyone who shipped Hak and Yona. You will be so happy. There is nothing better than seeing a ship that you have supported for these years actually happening. This was the couple that I had the highest hopes for and the couple I liked the most throughout this years. So yeah, don’t blame me for being so excited and crazy over them.
Of course, I am also a tiny bit sad for Jaeha, whom I had secretly shipped as well, with Yona. But that would never happen, which is why I feel sad for him, knowing how he would react. He is an absolute gem, he would definitely just smile, even though his heart would be hurting. ARGH, he such a gentleman, and just so nice! Anyways, don’t mind me, hahaha!
Okay, I think I have written long enough, so let’s end it here. Everyone please go read this chapter, and I absolutely look forward to the next chapter! Adios!

Some AkaYona 175 thoughts
Quick thoughts on AkaYona 175 (I wanted to share them on Sunday but I got riddled up with the GoT finale lol).
GENERAL EXCITEMENT BECAUSE HELL YES FINALLY. I was sceptical about the way things ended in 174 and expected Yona to be out cold for the rest of the escape sequence and then forget she even said anything sleep-talking, followed by a Hak being all “she was delerious and half dead, she didn’t mean what she said,” and then for everything to tumble down more hills of misunderstandings, but YAS QUEEN, WHAT A KISS(?*) SCENE.
(* It was more bite than kiss ya’ll, he basically devoured her)
Mind you, I think there’s still a big chance this will get one last brush-off? Hak’s kissing is almost angry, the way it’s being depicted, so the sense I’m getting is that he’s acting out of thirst (eyyyy) for Yona and not necessarily because he believes she loves him back, sort of like “HOLY SHIT how are you doing this to me? Are you for real? This is outright torture.”
I’m not saying that he’s harassing her despite believing she’s not into him, but that he’s in a dire situation and his emotions about it are all over the place, perhaps fanned by the fact that he just heard her say ~something that could be taken as a love confession~. It’s very much in line with the tease/thirst he showed back in the Awa ark with the honey, the impulses he decided to tame and erase for Yona’s benefit. I like this A LOT, because for a long time he’s been a character that just gives, so seeing him break and at last make a move to take is very rewarding (it’s a taking we’ve been seeing more and more since the confession burst out of him).
My take on this is that Hak at this point doesn’t yet believe Yona is in love with him? After all, as far as he’s concerned Yona has already kissed him for no good reason before (“ ‘twas but a goodby kiss, fool 🙃”), and they were in a dire situation about to legitely get roasty-toasty. Also, Hak’s history of not believing Yona’s affection for him is romantic makes me think that he wouldn’t take her sleep(unconcious?)-talking seriously. So I think we might yet get a scene where he apologises a la “I’m sorry Princess, I was delirious and exhausted, I’ll never do that again,” to be then be countered by the much awaited Yona confession.
Either way! I am so stoked!!! that this!!!!! finally!!!!!!! HAPPENED!!!!!!!!! (ngh, it was such a delicious way to frame the kiss too, so angsty.)
Other thoughts: Jae-ha swirling in to save the day was 12/10 gorgeous; but I’m so tired of the Gobi manoeuvres and scheming, please let it end already. I’m also seeing that Kuervo is heading towards a Kouren-like ending, where we acknowledge him as a bad guy with shades of grey, but he hasn’t earned it as much as Kouren did, and I’m honestly quite disappointed so far with how he’s been treated… It doesn’t seem like we’ll get any payoff on that big battle between him and Hak that Jae-ha foreshadowed, either. But well, things can still turn around? The arc isn’t yet over.
Also– Did anybody else get any weird vibes from the fact that Hak has been left behind in a building that’s literally in flames?? In any other circumstances I’d say that’s a flag right there that shit is about to go south (maybe Jae-ha somehow can’t make it back to save him?) but… I also get the feeling that the finale to the Kuervo ark is pattering out softly rather than going out with a bang.

HIS FACE GIVES ME LIFE!!!! Hak is all like “wat” but he is just happy and goes with it. I love how he never pushes Yona he just goes with what she is comfortable with and loves her no matter what. He deserves this. Yona deserves her little family she has created! I do not know how I am going to wait for the next chapter I can’t wait to see where things go from here!!
Also, look how vicious he is. Don’t fuck with Yona or ruin make out time.

I know Soo Won has his reasons and he’s not totally evil but I want to see him regretting his choices more and being emotional about it.
It’s obvious that he did not really want to hurt them. But it’s also blatant that he thinks of them as casualties. Sacrifices that are needed to achieve his goals.
I want him to see Hak and Yona with the Happy Hungry Bunch, just them being their silly and goofy self and having the time of their lives, just so he can realise the magnanimity of what he lost. And how hard it is to be alone, then doubt if he did the right thing, if there are really no other way to fix Kouka without having to lose both of his bestfriends.
I want him to think of what could have been their future if he only did things differently. But ultimately realise that no matter what he does now, he can’t change the past.
He can only look at them from afar. He’s not a part of their lives now and they had already moved on from him. For the sake of Kouka.
All Soo Won is to Hak and Yona is a painful memory and a bitter example of what it is to be betrayed by the one you love.
And Soo Won will only have their memories from childhood to keep him company on the lonely throne he sits in.
He who wears the crown must bear it’s weight.
