"commit minecraft" is a censor for suicide baiting. kinda like how people say "unalive" instead of kill to bypass censors. so they're basically saying someone told them to kill themselves.

i think it came from tiktok people saying they were gonna kill people (in minecraft, of course).

Ohhh yeah that makes a lot more sense. When I read that line I took it as someone literally going "YOU SHOULD COMMIT MINECRAFT!". Like wtf does that even mean? LMAO If someone came at me like that I honestly would've laughed my ass off because that sounds so stupid.

But yeah now that I have that context, not sure if someone actually said it to them like that (as a censor) or if the anon who sent in the ask was censoring it that way. A lot less funny realizing now that someone told them to kill themselves for being an aroace person who is okay with the idea that romance exists. What the fuck?

It's so dumb that people care THAT much over team themes that don't even matter to begin with (and aren't even a guarantee). Why are y'all literally being bigoted towards each other and telling each other to kill themselves over a fucking team theme??? Even if that one were to hypothetically win, there is absolutely NO rule that says you have to follow said theme! It's not like the Art Fight staff is going to hold you down and force you to exclusively draw ship art if you're put on Team Lovestruck. This is insane, dudes.

Anyway, as a fellow person on the aroace spectrum, I honestly don't care WHAT team themes we get as long as we get pretty colors with them. 💖 And like the Anon here mentioned, it's not like we even have to follow the themes!

Unless you count Murder Drones characters having some vampire-like traits, I didn't draw ANY werewolves OR vampires for 2023. I also drew very little sea- or space-themed stuff for last year's Art Fight. It's not like you're being forced to follow those themes and you won't get into trouble if you don't - it's literally just a way to differentiate the teams! That's it!

Also "all aroace people hate romance and relationships". Yeah, FOR OURSELVES specifically. Most of us aren't bothered by the fact that people in general get into relationships and it's silly to think otherwise. And then there's me. I might not want that kind of relationship, but god do I love putting my OCs into one!

As an aroace person, I'm fine with lovestruck vs heartbreak winning if that does end up being the popular choice. Who cares? It's not like we have to actually follow the themes! I didn't draw any werewolves for 2023 despite being on that team, and very little sea-related stuff for last year, despite being on seafoam. I didn't get into trouble or anything for that, so why would this year be any different? It's not the attack on aroace people think it is.

Love how I can bring that up to people and get told all sorts of aphobic comments and to commit minecraft over it. <3 Someone even told me that I was faking being aroace by being okay with the team option because "all aroace people hate romance and relationships". What a narrow-minded view you all have if you unironically think that.

would using the picrews as icons but not having access to the images cause issues with crediting? there are some pretty petty people on the site and someone tried reporting me for having discord links to credit my friends art so I worry they'd try to report you for a lack of credits too

Yeah, that incident is a good example of why the stuff my Discord friends made me is locked to auth-only. I don't know what the proper crediting convention for someone exclusively on Discord is and I just KNOW someone is going to see that and be petty enough to go "ADMIIIIIN! SHINXEY ISN'T CREDITING HER AAAARRRRRT! THERE'S NO DIRECT LINK BACK TO THE ARTIST!!!!"

I used a similar credit convention to Art Fight, in mentioning the artist is only on Discord and naming them. But still might not be good enough since I can't just link back to their actual profile like you can with something like Tumblr or Twitter. So those go to auth-only. Other friends can see them, but not the general public because I at least know the former will be respectful about it.

As for the Picrew icon thing, I don't think I'd get into trouble for that, even if someone did try to report me. The admin can see privated characters and images, so they'd take one look at the profile, see the image in question and see that it was properly credited back to the Picrew I used, and then ignore the report. I've seen a lot of people on the site use icons of their characters that are of art that's been privated and none of them got into trouble for that. If that was a problem, everyone who's ever used an icon that someone else made for them would be instantly banned off the site.

ive said it before but as a tool and a 'place', i really love the internet, genuinely. i dont like the resignation that it has to be, and stay, a place thats full of misery and fighting. ive met a lot of really wonderful people here, and i think we could all have a nice time together if everyone did their part to make it so that was possible. im not speaking down to you as someone whos never made these mistakes, im asking as someone whos also made them alongside you.
