[Tales heard in japanese]
"The Woman of the Snow" (雪女, Yukionna) is an adaptation from Hearn's Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things (1903).
Yuki-onna originates from folklores of olden times; in the Muromachi period Sōgi Shokoku Monogatari by the renga poet Sōgi, there is a statement on how he saw a yuki-onna when he was staying in Echigo Province (now Niigata Prefecture), indicating that the legends already existed in the Muromachi period. Shizuka Gozen1 (1165–1211), or Lady Shizuka, one of the most famous women in Japanese history and literature, was a shirabyōshi (court dancer) of the 12th century, and a mistress of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Since she, like many others, are featured largely in the Heike Monogatari (Tale of Heike), Gikeiki (Chronicle of Yoshitsune), and a number of plays of various traditions, her story is quite well known, but it is difficult to separate fact from fiction within it.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shizuka_Gozen)

Essay by Mori Ogai's son, Mori Oto.
He is a doctor and loves eggs so much that he fantasizes about half-cooked eggs while at work.
This is the story of his very funny "imaginary half-boiled egg".
Japanese subtitles are available. It could be used to practice reading.
Do you also like half-boiled eggs?
