It was late, had left the hideout in need of setting fires and mild respect given to the rules. Smoke like a warm blanket clinging to the fabric of their clothes. Hood up as played with their lighter on the way back. Pausing in a twirl of it around fingers; at the person in their way and standing still. "Need a light?" Giving it the spin but with an flourish to shut it. Not out of consideration but fuel saving.

Mercer definitely never gets babysitting duty in the firelights. Is clearly more friendly towards them than adults; but still very much only short lived patience and not the best behavior model. Plus just an awareness of it being a bad idea. Which is one of those signs that could be rational+taught better than they've taught themselves & their life of survival.
Very willing to play games with them though/it best behaved in those cases. Tag, hopscotch etc. Or unafraid to sometimes mild scare tactics 'if you don't eat your healthy things, you'll become super flammable'.

Something's Wrong With You (senses)
Eyes
"Can you focus on me?"
"Hey... I'm over here?"
"What are you looking at?"
"Whoa, hey - sorry, didn't mean to startle you."
"I'm - I'm right in front of you."
"Can you... can you not see?"
"When did you lose your vision?"
"Hey, it's okay - it's okay. Let me take your hand and lead you."
"Don't be scared - it'll be okay. We'll fix it."
"Don't flinch - I'm going to touch you."
Ears
"Hello? Hellloooo?"
"Are you ignoring me?"
"God, you never pay attention -"
"I'm talking to you!"
"Why aren't you listening?"
"Pay attention!"
"Listen!"
"Can you not hear me or something?"
"Why are you looking at me like that..?"
"What - wait... you can't hear? Why am I saying this you can't hear it."
Mouth
"Why are you making that face? I spent ages cooking that."
"Why are you adding salt to that?"
"Whoa, you're drooling like crazy."
"Are you choking?"
"Bland? How can it be bland?"
"I can't taste anything."
"My mouth just tastes like blood."
"Everything tastes of nothing."
"My tongue's gone numb."
"Bleh."
Nose
"Eugh, can't you smell that?"
"Oh, that smells hideous."
"It reeks in here!"
"You stink."
"I think I broke my nose."
"I can't smell anything?"
"I think I've gone nose-blind."
"Should I... be able to smell anything?"
"I think I burnt my nostril hairs out."
"Everything just smells like smoke."
Feeling
"I think I just burnt my fingerprints off."
"My hands have gone numb."
"I can't - I can't feel anything. At all."
"Are you touching me? I can't tell -"
"Your hands are shaking."
"Okay - if you're going to keep dropping things you need to put them down."
"Can you feel this?"
"I'm going to run my fingers through your hair."
"I'm taking your hand."
"It's okay - it's okay. Just take a breath. The feeling will come back."

does your muse feel strongly about helping others?
morality / ethics / one's character headcanon q's
For the most part, they don't really actually care about helping others. Present the image frequently to get by; but feels so jaded by their life that helping others isn't the most authentic thing for them. Does warm up to the idea of it within time (or presented with people that ease them into the concept of helping others). But when they want to help sincerely, good luck getting rid of them. Very much the sort to be like 'oh hey you're cooking in a small kitchen, let me help' and proceeds to be very much in the way. Offering tools to fix things but due to their eye condition accidentally smacking people with the tools, etc.

does your muse accept responsibility for mistakes, or are they prone to making excuses to avoid it?
morality / ethics / one's character headcanon q's
It depends on the mistake, often they tend to double down if feel really cornered about it. Toss fuel onto the fire- rather than apologize or own up to them. But with time or if somebody has been fairly patient they will sheepishly appear at some point afterwards to apologize. Maybe just to bury the mistake in the ground, sometimes though it'll be a genuine one.
And even more often that apology, accepting of responsibility comes in less typical forms. Like doing something they view as equal (in their eyes) to balance things out. If it is direct+sincere they will also likely just disappear afterwards because it's a taxing vulnerability, chore to them. "I'm sorry." Proceeds to vanish before it can be accepted or rejected/or another lecture and reappear hours later.

what importance does your muse place on rules?
morality / ethics / one's character headcanon q's
For the most part rules, are viewed as suggestion or a joke if made by anybody else. They don't grasp a lot of rules+have the instinct formed to 'you said I can't so now I want to.' As well lingering traces of a childhood impression of being above such things. The only ones they adhere being their own, but even those usually change with the ebb flow of their mood.
Secretly though they slightly crave reasonable restrictions/rules,etc. Can work around their attitude by simple careful framing of things, or behavior redirection though. Might give somebody a little grief if its blatantly obvious but will take the trade off if it's intriguing enough.

WHAT'S PECULIAR ABOUT YOUR SOUL?
Your soul is... Volatile There is a deep, painful energy harbored within this soul… At its very core festers malice, and a deeply rooted pain that craves nothing more but to inflict itself onto everything around it. Special care has been given to it- to stop examiners from coming into any harm should they draw too near to it. You coil like a serpent, awaiting a moment to strike. To claim your revenge. It never comes.

"So what do you think?" It was somewhat rhetorical in tone; self preservation tactic as much the question for once was genuine. White hood knocked off their head to reveal the animal mask. Upper face that of scrap metal worked into an rabbit shape for fun. Still an work in progress especially given the lack of ears but the design was organized chaos. The only time they bothered let their face be visible. Especially since had actually taken to less eye distracting makeup. Skin all sparkly however with some little white, silver stars painted all over especially where the mask didn't cover.

Fake it, till you make it or whatever the phrase was. Hood of their reflective jacket up as determined to not mess up what they had been trusted with. A supply run for the group of misfits that was their current semi stable address. It was going just fine till their vision messed up right as they tried walking around somebody.
World going black- their hands defensively and offensively shoving the body they collided into away. "Hey watch it."

It was their more casual attire, still plenty of reflective features for eyesight purposes but the fabric was darker in color. Black hood sheltering their face which still had all it's decorum for don't look at me purposes. A rare day of actually being fairly laid back with no major needs for stirring up trouble. That being said a little boredom led them to pick the first face they saw while roaming, as somebody to bother. "You there!" Dramatic pointing at them, "What's your name?"
