DragonFable Timeline Update

The recent Book 1 Revisited and Book 2 Reimagined updates have messed up my existing timeline. This is fine, but it does mean my current timeline is out of date. And you know that that means...

Yep, I have begun work on an updated timeline (because I am insane)! This timeline will probably not be complete anytime soon, mostly because the devs will have to finish their revamps of Books 1 & 2 before I can be confident about anything going on there. So, embracing my madness, I have decided to enhance my timeline, upgrading it beyond just a series of bulletpoints. I have begun work adding blurbs to each section (some original, some taken from the in-game timeline, some like the second option but altered to better show how events lead into one another), along with clarifying notes and directions when necessary. When I am finished, this will be the ULTIMATE DragonFable timeline, covering main story, holidays, and even every side story I can find space for.

Finally, after long years not visiting her hometown, Joanne is finally back home in her mother's arms

Throughout Book 3, Joanne has never stepped back to her hometown until the very finale of the Book. With how chaotix it is, thinking back of home made her homesick and actually visiting her mom feels like a luxury and danger. The Rose hated her guts, there's a bounty on her head. What if theu found out about her mother? Sure, Joanne's mother is a strong huntress, but she can't help but worry. So she decided to never go back home unless everything has been taken care of. Not even when the bounty had been put down.

Then there's the letters. Her mother never stopped sending letters, telling her the situation back at home, asking her condition, sending her fruits and vegetables if possible (a gift the people from her hometown always send to Falconreach). Joanne never answered, living in fear that giving any chance of showing hint that the letter came from mother would put her in danger. Her mother was understanding enough. But to aid both of them, Warlic was the one who'd often send letters to Joanne's mother in her place. Because Warlic has known Joanne for years. Before Warlic, it was Serenity who answered Joanne's mother's letters.

Then finally, finally, after 12 long years, Joanne finally went back home. Just her and Arc. Walking together. And once she knocked her childhood home, she finally can see her mother. How her wrinkles has increased, how her hair has greyed from age, and especially how she looks far more smaller than she remembered.

Joanne immediately found herself crying in her mother's arms. Hugging her tight and apologizing over and over. Her mother kissed her forehead and cheeks instead, greering her with the same gentleness Joanne remembered;

"Welcome home, mon papillon."

John Wings got this haircut on wind orb and somehow the wings began to grow sentience. See it as a dog wagging its tail. It also changes its appearance depending on its class!

hero appreciation day: what's your hero's Bit. like, what would make them fit into the slightly ridiculous world of dragonfable.

i'll start: mira's bit is that she never wears sleeves and if you give her a shirt with sleeves she will immediately flex off the sleeves. sun(bringer)'s out guns out.

John would be denpa. They vibes, the way they think and act— it’s just denpa! I just love how upbeat and nonsensical it gets but it suits them. I want anyone fighting them to get either brainworms or annoyed from the repeating string of words that do not mean anything but also slipping in some verses which is Just There to explain who they are. An example would be this gem of an IOSYS song.

Sometimes the Hero is just a guy who overload their head with positive nonsense, even if it gets out-of-touch.

Hero appreciation time once more, with a shout-out to @uooj601 for inspiration. Thinking musically today, what kind of music would your hero's theme be? Would it be a hard, powerful kind of thing to emphasize their role as a dominant force in combat or an impulsive personality? Would it be a more wistful and slow thing to highlight their personal tragedies or a thoughtful mind? Maybe it would be something light and slightly whimsical to channel their sense of humour or the weirdness of their life? Do you have any particular real-world music you think really channels their vibe? Would they maybe have a combat theme and a regular theme that differ in tone?

Contrastingly, is there a certain type of music your hero would listen to in particular? What are their tastes?

I'm sorry, but I don't think about anything except Dragonfable these days. So, share a Dragonfable opinion if you want.

It's okay! Even if I didn't know what that was, I'd ask about it and look it up; wouldn't that be a way to start a friendship?

Anyway my DragonFable opinion of the day is that technically speaking, majority of the Land of Dragons is an empire in just as much capacity as the Shapeless Empire and should be described as such.

More below the cut because I have a LOT to say, including footnotes!

The seat of royal authority is in Swordhaven, and the map puts Swordhaven as the capital of Greenguard, but their rule clearly expands far beyond into the neighboring areas of Oaklore¹, Maguswood², the Elemental Foothills (notably Dragesvard and Lymcrest), Braughlmurk, and even into Doomwood and the Sandsea, as seen when the Proclamations targeted³ these areas.

Given that large areas of Doomwood were originally known as Darkovia and had their own system of government in the exiled Queen Safiria⁴, the renaming of Darkovia to Doomwood- the Greenguard naming style- suggests that it was conquered by Greenguard at some point, probably during Safiria's absence; a point I think is heavily emphasized by both the vampiric nobility gathering under her banner upon her return, and the ongoing hostilities between Amityvale and Moonridge with the vampiric court.

More egregious is the situation of the Sandsea; the Sandsea also had an independent ruler in book 1's Sek-Duat, but in book 2 when the ateala arrived long after Sek-Duat was deposed, rather than discussing with a local government, King Alteon offered them sanctuary "in his lands" and that's seen as good enough authorization, meaning that the Sandsea is now under his rule.

And finally, Dragesvard ALSO had several independent rulers: Queen Aisha of the ice elves and ice dragons, King Linus of the Killguins, Huntmaster Frrwl of the Ursice Tribe, and G'joob of the Tuskers, all of whom were neutral or hostile to the human settlement of Dragesvard and all of whom were either ousted from their land or allied with Dragesvard through various mean.

Even more recently, as of book 3, it's stated that one of the major reasons the Rose came into such power was their hand in the conflicts in Kaer Sierra with Archdruid Yalla.

Pretty much the only major regions in the Land of Dragons continent not formally recognized as ruled by Swordhaven or with a major Swordhaven-aligned settlement are Ovungu Zoyo, Kaer Sierra⁵, Fairgrove⁶ and Sho'nuff Island- and Sho'nuff is in the active process of being colonized, as seen by the pirates (who are already not a native population⁷) giving way for merchants and tourists from Greenguard.

So yeah, that's Emperor Alden or Empress Victoria for you!

² Except Ravenloss and Falconreach, a point of much contention in Book 3 especially when disaster strikes

³ The attack wasn't on purpose, but the fact of the matter is that the Proclamations were already set to target those areas, which means the Shapeless Empire recognizes them as under Swordhaven's rule

Asked some friends from book of lore server for characters and I realized I haven't shared them here, so here it is.

And bonus Johanna, Joanne, and Jeannette sketch
