Saw that post and immediately had to make this
[id: a screencap from the crooked man episode of the granada Sherlock Holmes series. Holmes is staring longingly at Watson. In the bottom right corner there is a tumblr post by tentativetalker which reads “if it wasn’t homoerotic to look at someone, why would they call it ‘gaze’ 🤨” /end id]

No one but an acrobat or a sailor could have got up to that bell-rope from the bracket
Yet you did, Holmes, what does that make you? I vote for cat

"In an instant he was tense and alert, his eyes shining, his face set, his limbs quivering with eager activity. He was out on the lawn, in through the window, round the room, and up into the bedroom, for all the world like a dashing foxhound drawing a cover. In the bedroom he made a rapid cast around and ended by throwing open the window, which appeared to give him some fresh cause for excitement, for he leaned out of it with loud ejaculations of interest and delight. Then he rushed down the stair, put through the open window, threw himself upon his fave on the lawn, sprang up and into the room once more, all with the energy of the hunter who is at the very heels of his quarry"

No, you don't get it. Sherlock Holmes can't be a catboy, it would be the death of him. He'd be trying to look cold and mysterious, and then the moment Watson showed up on the room he's in, his throat would start vibrating and he'd be blinking slowly. His reputation would be destroyed
#Watson would just describe him as cold and mysterious#and his straight (cis) male readers would just believe him despite evidence to the contrary#both cats and Holmes have that reputation even though they aren't#Idk why people call cats mysterious when like 80% of their personality is just predator#Simple creatures really#Live to hunt

Stuff that made me think of my favourite Holmes adaptations part 3
Is it custom to cite your sources on tumblr?
(most stuff I forgot where I got it, I would need to use a citation management program for this)
The earring quote was originally used in a text post by @angrylasagna . I usually find my tweets on cheezburger, boredpanda and @mostly-funnytwittertweets because I am not much of a twitter user. (Never had a twitter account, certainly won't get one now. Insert bad word Elon Musk.)
#Jeremy Brett was the best#Iconic#Jeremy's hoop earring#I like Ritchie!Holmes#most accurate depiction of Holmes' mental health after Granada and Sherlock and Co. imo. Also hot Watson#AroAce Mycroft#I never played the Holmes Video game but the “I want to break free” dancing scene is iconic enough for it to be a favourite of mine#holding hands#text posts#text post#i made this#not cat related#i love text posts#granada

Thanky ❤
Love it
I found a tweet that is just so Jonk:
If you like it too, could you please draw a picture of an exhausted Jonk and include this tweet as a text post? It would make me very happy.
Pigeonk is tired. Give him a rest. Get a nap momma the kids will be fine I swear

Apparently @kikikiwiart s comment was a reference to this post:
I thought she meant that I edited the picture of the one corresponding to the video and that Holmes originally drank from a cup. Which would have been a lot more work to do. Anyway, I am still glad to have had an occasion hopefully introduce some people to Whitehead Holmes.
Holmes experimenting on himself scene
Corresponding text post:
This was in the notes of my text post, and I really appreciate the compliment @kikikiwiart:
But. I didn't replace a cup with a glass. Whitehead Holmes actually tries to drink the results of a dubious chemical experiment. This is why Watson looks so shocked. Very funny scene in my opinion.
It is from The Case of the Final Curtain (1979), part of the series Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson by Sheldon Reynolds
I love this series. A happy, impish Holmes. Less depressed than in canon, good for him. In my opinion Granada (my personal favourite) and Ritchie Holmes have a more accurate depiction of Holmes' mental health, but it is also nice to see the lighthearted, humorous side of the Holmes stories explored.
Lovely relationship with Watson. The stories are not canon. As of January 2024 you can watch it on Youtube, this channel has all of them:
(Most of the effort in my text posts is finding the right tweets/posts and a scene that fits. I never had a twitter account, which I regret, but I certainly won't get one now. F... Elon Musk. I usually get the tweets/reddit posts etc. from boredpanda, cheezburger etc.)

Sherlock & Co. appreciation text post
If you haven't listened to it already, I cannot recommend this new podcast enough. It is a modern adaptation that captures the spirit of the canon perfectly. Not sponsored, I am just obsessed.
I don't really know how to draw properly. Yet. But I am the Queen of tracing photos in procreate. Ha! I used a picture of German-Jewish actor Sig Arno, who looks very Holmes-like to me. Plus he liked to pose with cigarettes, so perfect model.
Also, shout out to @halftoning from whom I reposted that absolute gem of a text. He was also my first mutual on tumblr btw.
