Hi!! I've been reading this comic for a while and I just wanna say I LOVEEE the way you write Shane and I'm super interested in seeing where this goes! The writing is genuinely really compelling to me, n it's always cool to see a new update on my dash. I also haven't thought much about Shelliott before reading, but it's been growing on me!! I love rare pairs and this is becoming one of my favs lol (And it's honestly inspiring me to make stuff too!)

Like, part 40 was fully birthed after I read Shelliott Ranch #1 by @mongoosingisme WHICH WAS ITSELF INSPIRED BY MY COMIC. Isn't that mental??

where did you discover the shelliot ship? I'd never seen it before stumbling upon your comic !!

Uhhhm i discovered it... inside my... head?.. Hahahha

Basically what happened is : they were the two bachelors that I wanted to marry the first time I played the game. And recently, I fell back into unemployment and the Stardew Valley fandom, as one does, and I thought... if I love them both even thought they are sooo different there must be something that ties them together.

So then I thought "Wouldn't it be be so so funny to write them ending up together? Haha! So funny! Like how would that happen?! Lol!". And like after a week of sleepless nights and falling into that obsession, I figured it out... And yeah... it wasn't a joke anymore

The pier talk is one of the first thing I wrote for the story, and I'm pretty sure it was inspired by this post from @lily-alphonse, back when I was scrounging through the terribly underused shelliott tag. I loved that idea that Shane would push too far one day, and regret it. It also laid out why I think despite their differences they would relate to each other and need one another :)

heyy! How did you come up with a story that you were satisfied with for the comic? I've been trying to write my own SDV comic and it's a bit difficult keeping it to one storyline

Oh ohh what an interesting ask! I wanna say get obsessed with two characters building feelings for each other until you can't sleep anymore, and your mind isn't your own anymore, forever and ever until you finally have a story you're happy with

But that doesn't sound very healthy ☺️

What makes a good storyline for me is firstly : the CHARACTERS. I picked Shane and Elliott because I truly love them and also relate a lot to them. I watched deep dives on them to get inspired, analysed what common traits I had with them so I could predict them, understand them. I drew a mental list of "truths" (or headcanons I guess) that I have for them, so I don't betray them when I write their story. Do you have trouble keeping it to one storyline because you have more than 2 main characters? For your first story, I'll advise you to keep it at two, and go from there!

Secondly : the ENDING! I felt comfortable posting Shells once I had a solid idea of my "ending", or my "goal" in other words (which is to make them kiss) (teehee). Having the ending first tells you were you are going and inspire you for middle and the beginning of your story. From where do they start their journey? And what needs to happen in order for them to realize the changes they need to make to reach the ending you have in mind? When you don't have a strong goal that's how your story dies, in my opinion, cause you're a bit aimless.

What I also find amazing, writing fanfiction for the first time, is that I don't have to come up with everything (characters looks, personality, backstory...), which also comes with constraints. Which is a good thing! Embrace the constraints when you write and it's another thing that could inspire you and keep you from being sidetracked.

To what you said about "having difficulty keeping ot to one storyline" I know that problem all to well. I use what I said before to cut though what does not serve the story. Ask yourself does it help understand the character better? Does it places a brick for the ending that I have in mind? Do I really believe the character would do this? And throw away OR keep aside for another story everything that doesn't fit this
