Over the past 15 years, Sheldon Pontaoe has managed multiple local and transnational legal teams on behalf of several organizations. With these multi-billion dollar companies, Sheldon Pontaoe has overseen very large trademark portfolios. Since 2018, he has worked with Indiana-based Elanco, where he is the associate general counsel and the head of legal operations and trademarks. In the former role, Mr. Pontaoe helped Elanco's General Counsel create an independent legal department complete with numerous attorneys, staff, legal IT systems and legal policies and procedures. Before this, he worked with Eli Lilly and Company and supported its Elanco animal health business. Alongside the business development team and others, Sheldon Pontaoe played an important role in several key projects, including Elanco's multi-million dollar acquisition of Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica's US vaccines business. A University of Southern Indiana graduate, Mr. Pontaoe has a bachelor of science in marketing. He subsequently earned his juris doctor from the New York Law School. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the International Trademark Association, Association of Corporate Counsel and Corporate Legal Operations Consortium.

From 2015 to 2018, he was outsourced corporate counsel with Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, where he provided proactive counseling to clients.
