Shawnee Knight from New Canaan Is Associated with Initiatives like Blessings in a Backpack
The co-founder and co-president of Filling in the Blanks, Shawnee Knight is a New Canaan based passionate chef, community activist, board member, wife, and a mother. She is classically trained at the French Culinary Institute of NYC and is even associated with initiatives like Blessings in a Backpack and a United Way program called Stamford Food Collaborative. The story of the formation of Filling in the Blanks dates back to the year 2013. What started as an initiative by two local mothers has now grown into a well set-up nonprofit organization. Shawnee Knight from New Canaan is proud of her association with the organization. Filling in the Blanks started with not more than 50 students and now has grown to accommodate the needs of more than 800 students weekly. Shawnee often talks about how the organization is based on a strong sense of social responsibility to nurture the community’s needy children and inspire others to do the same.
Diving into the details of her personal life, she is happily married to Douglas Knight – an industry veteran from New Canaan. Douglas is among the most well-known personalities in New Canaan and has the experience of working with a number of reputed firms and is also the Chief Executive Officer of WorldTek Inc. Her elder son Andrew Knight graduated New Canaan High School two years back and is currently a rising junior at the Skidmore College. Andrew is an exceptional baseball player who is currently pursuing his higher education in business and economics. Andrew is also a catcher for the Skidmore Thoroughbreds varsity baseball team and even volunteers for charitable causes whenever he gets a chance.

Shawnee Knight is the co-founder and co-president of the nonprofit organization in New Canaan that is dedicated to fighting child hunger. The organization does so by providing the children in need with nutritious meals on the weekends. Andrew enjoys playing golf and baseball and loves to travel with his family to new places whenever he can. Walking in his mother’s footsteps, Andrew volunteers for Filling in the Blanks too. He is also the volunteer coach for the little league basketball team.

Shawnee Knight Aims at Eradicating Child Hunger from New Canaan, CT
Millions of children out there are forced to live with hunger just because they cannot afford to buy enough food. If we get into the statistics, four children die of hunger every minute. The situation is clearly not pleasant at all. Shawnee Knight is one of the many individuals in New Canaan, CT who dream of eradicating child hunger. She has always been concerned about the issue and so, she co-founded a nonprofit association called Filling in the Blanks in an attempt to tackle the issue.
Shawnee Knight is also the co-president of this New Canaan based nonprofit that is dedicated to fighting child hunger by providing the children in need with nutritious meals on the weekends. The lunch program they offer provides meals to children in local pre-schools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and camps.
