Oh, to be a dragon from a 15th century German Jewish manuscript wearing a long, silly hat.

A really fantastic stylistic choice in Twilight of the Gods is the blood & gore settling in borre-style ribbons and swirls, intentional and artistic and beautiful and brutal. It really gives you that feel of watching events of a saga later depicted in this old artwork on scrolls and leather-bound books.
#twilight of the gods#i don't have a tag for stuff like this#thoughts#i guess#cw: gore#cartoon blood

Something a bit different. I love Wounded Wild, so it was very hard to purposefully make her into an ugly-crying mess.
Something I feel was a missed opportunity was seeing Wild BEFORE separation, pleading for you not to leave. This twisted, split-open thing, screaming that what she and you are is "beautiful," I felt would've added to the visual and psychological horror element of the scene, I think.

okay i get it now. count orlok is both an abuser and an object of desire for ellen because he represents sex and sexuality in all its forms, desire and joy as well as abuse and manipulation and all the nuances in between. he is grotesque and frightening and horrifying because that's how female sexuality was viewed in the 19th century. just as ellen tells thomas, he is her shame - the whole point is that historically, society has made little differentiation between sex and rape for women. both are viewed as shameful. and orlok represents everything that is shameful about sex for a woman in ellen's time, including both their desire and their victimisation. fuck i need to watch this film again
