Lukewarm take: If you want to get good at practical sorcery, you're probably going to have to do a lot of magic you don't need to do, just for the sake of practice
I do not like or support the idea that ~all~ witches are supposed to be spiritual bodybuilders who are ~supposed~ to do daily training drills.
But some people really would like to really practice certain skills related to witchcraft (as in, habitually engage with a skill for the purpose of improvement).
I'm really into sorcery, and every time I bring up the idea that to get good at it you should practice it, I feel like someone always ends up saying, "but I don't need anything."
IMO there is a very unhelpful vibe when it comes to ""practice discourse"" where it is assumed that if you don't need something, then it isn't useful to practice it.
Case in point, cleansing!
A lot of people say that you don't really need to cleanse things, not even spiritual tools; that it's a handy skill to have if you need it, but it's not necessary.
My point isn't whether or not you really need to cleanse things.
My point is the practice that cleansing can bring!
Cleanse a hundred objects, and you have a hundred more interactions with magic under your belt.
Depending on the method of cleansing you're doing, you've enchanted a hundred dishes of salt water, a hundred sticks of incense, said a hundred charms.
You've engaged your willpower and magical mind a hundred times.
You have a hundred more experiences with how working with that energy, or that correspondence, or that charm affects you; how it leaves you feeling; how it leaves the object feeling.
Imagine how effective a charm might begin to be if you use it a hundred times. Imagine the experience you might gain using ten different cleansing methods ten times each.
You've got a lot more experience with objects before and after they've been worked over.
A person who does a hundred cleansings may not begin to develop an innate sense for the spiritual grime that can accumulate in the world around us, but I imagine they'd be a lot more likely to than someone who doesn't cleanse at all.
The thing with magic is that (IMO) you can never just practice one thing at a time. If you practice cleansing, you may also be practicing enchantment, energy work, psychism, petitioning, and so forth (again, depending on your methods).
And when the time comes to cast, idk, a prosperity spell, I would put my money on a guy who has only been cleansing because he had nothing better to do, than someone who hasn't been practicing any magic at all in the same timespan.
It goes for anything. A hundred energized little rocks to change the mood of a room. A hundred bits of string to tie up an annoyance.
Maybe you don't NEED an annoyance tied up.
But if you WANT to practice magic, then what does it matter what the magic is for?

Energy Tethers 101
*this post is fueled by angst*
Okay, no, seriously though, it really does make me sad that so many people seemed to have no idea what I was talking about when it comes to connecting things for energy transfer.
So, what even is an energy tether?
I personally use the term “energy tether” to describe this type of energy work, but they could be called anything - energy cords, energy feeds, etc. Basically, it’s a metaphysical connection to allow a direct and continuous flow of energy from a source into a target. And I say target, because it doesn’t need to be an inanimate object - it’s possible to do this with yourself too.
That sounds a little convoluted, Richtor; can you break it down a bit more?
Yes, I know, I’m fancy with my words. You’re creating an energetic line between two things, one thing to be used as a battery, to allow energy to constantly flow from the battery into the second thing, keeping it charged / powered forever.
Are you serious?
Yes.
Why don’t we do this for everything in magic?
Honestly, I don’t know. If you’ve got an understanding of energy work and visualization, it really isn’t even that hard to create one. It can even be done with representational magic if you really wanna go that far, but it’s not that complex when you get down to it.
I’m assuming it’s just a case of, people don’t think about it like that, or, it wasn’t as widespread a thing as I thought it was.
Can’t we just do this with passive charging, like how we charge things in moonlight?
Yes, but objects only hold a limited amount of energy before they become full; once you’ve used up the energy, you need to recharge it again. Creating an energy tether allows a constant flow of energy, so as it is being used up by your intent or goal, it just refills itself.
To me, passive charging is no guarantee that the energy will stick or be absorbed by the object, and that is also why I prefer things that require focusing on the energy yourself (direct channeling), or this method.
What *can* you use energy tethers for, anyway?
Basically anything you want to keep charged for extended periods of time. Optimal for sigils, any sort of charms - hell, you can even connect thoughtforms / servitors this way. But, seriously, anything you want to keep constantly charged with minimal effort, this is a way to do it.
What can you use for “batteries” or power sources?
Anything that produces an almost endless amount of energy. The sun is the first and most obvious one I think of. You can use anything else that produces a lot of energy, though. If you live near a dam, or those electricity windmills, those would work. Power lines and electric generators are awesome, and a great way to incorporate different feels of energy (and tech magic) into your practice. Space, even; like, the entire damn thing. If it produces energy, it can be tethered.
What do you mean about different feels of energy?
This isn’t specific to tethers - all things that have and produce energy have different “feels” to them. The sun is more hot and energetic than the moon, which is cool and calming. Rose quartz is a bit more gentle than, say, jasper, which is hot and firey. Tiger’s eye is more solid and stable than clear quartz, which is fluid and mold-able to almost any intent.
We all experience feels of energy differently, however; these are just how I “energetically feel” those things.
(You also don’t need to “feel” anything to still do energy work, but that’s like a whole ‘nother post.)
Can you tether to something that doesn’t have unlimited energy?
Sure, yeah, but you’ll drain it, and then it won’t be fulfilling its purpose anymore.
Can these energy lines be broken?
Yep, absolutely. You can do it yourself if you no longer want them, someone else could do it if they could sense them, or they can naturally fade over time if you don’t give them proper upkeep and care.
Wait, upkeep? What happened to endless energy?
Yes, upkeep. You’re creating something to funnel energy, with energy. Energy needs to constantly be molded and kept in shape, or else it tends to just drift away. It really isn’t that hard to upkeep, though.
How do you keep your energy tethers safe from other people?
Just program that into them when you make them.
Any disadvantages to using an energy tether?
It depends on how you view the term disadvantage.
I think the thing that energy tethers lack is that bit of personalization that we often talk about being important in witchcraft. For example, you can keep a thoughtform powered by the sun, but it won’t contain your energy, won’t be as personally tied to you as if you charged it with your own energies. That can lose a lot of impact, when you really think about it, especially considering the nature of thoughtforms and the like.
Not to mention, you can overwhelm yourself with energy if you use a tether to connect yourself to an external source that produces more than your body can handle. You know how you can be overwhelmed by external energies, just by walking around? Yeah, now imagine that pumping straight into your body without a natural exit channel. Not fun.
Are there any other applications for energy tethers?
Fuck yeah. Use them to draw energy out of a target, in the form of a curse - literally sap their energies away so they have none left for their daily lives.
You can even connect yourself and another person with energy tethers, if you want to be able to share energy more freely and with more ease. (This is basically what I did with @ashesforeverashes, in a sense.)
Some people don’t like their energies taken without consent, though, and certain witchy protections can even prevent these sorts of tethers from forming in the first place, so keep that in mind.
Okay, all this talk about tethers, are you gonna show us how to make them?
Only if you ask nicely.
Please?
Okay that’s better.
It is essentially just a combination of energy work, intent, and visualization.
The first thing you need to do, is have an object you want charged.
Now, pick an energy source. You don’t need to be able to see it, but it can help.
Relax yourself, clear your mind if you can. Hold onto your object in your hands.
If you can, look at your energy source; this is clearly not applicable with the sun, so close your eyes and have your face turned toward it. If you can’t see your energy source, picture it in your mind as clearly as you can. Try to get a feel for its energy as well as you can, too.
Once you are confident with your source, imagine a cord connecting from it and to your object you want to keep charged. A nice visualization for this would be seeing the particles form together out of thin air to form your tether - literally materializing out of nothing and attaching to the source, creating a line that is slowly building down from the source and to your object. This can be done in whatever way you wish - just make it.
Take as long as you need to allow the cord to be build from your energy source to the target - it can take some time, depending on the distance and how experienced you are with energy work.
While you are creating it, focus on any attributes you want it to have - a thick cord that is hard to break, a shimmery appearance so no other magic users can see it, etc. Keep in mind the purpose of the cord, what you want it to do, how you want it to behave, and fuse that into it as it is being formed.
Once the cord is in place, you want to draw energy from your source and into the object, through the tether. Make it clear that energy only flows one way through this particular tether. Continue to draw from the energy source and down into the target, until you begin to feel the energy flowing through the tether naturally. Once energy is accumulating into the object on its own, you know the tether is complete.
For the upkeep; about once a week or so, focus on the tether and visualize it still being strong, without any gaps for energy to sift through. See a smooth, clean flow of energy from your energy source and into the target. If there are any obstructions, break them down and funnel them out.
What was this “representational magic” method you mentioned?
Oh yeah.
As a boost, you can have a representation of your energy source physically attached to the object or target, if you can. So, for example, you could have a tiny model of the sun, connected to the physical vessel for a thoughtform, by a piece of string. This can help keep the energy tether strengthened in a “physical” aspect, especially if you bind the physical to the energetic. Not to mention, just looking at it, you are reaffirmed that the tether is there and the object is charged, and that can assist with the upkeep.
Are there any “modifications” for energy tethers?
Totally. You can change the “material” you make the tehter out of. Think of how people can put spikes onto personal shields, or make them have reflective surfaces - it’s sort of like that, but moreso changing the tether itself into something besides a beam of light. It can be a black cord like the ones electronics use; it can be made out of natural rope or hemp; it can be just a metal pipe that the energy slides through. Try to think about how each “material” might impact the flow and/or feel of energy.
You can also have one tether break off and charge many items at once - you don’t need a separate tether for each thing. Just focus on your tether and how it can fork, and imagine another branch coming from it naturally. Or, if you’re adding a separate line after the original tether has been “installed,” imagine a separate line growing or being molded from the first and down to the new object.
And there you have it - my post on energy tethers. Obviously this isn’t complete or all encompassing. This is just my view on these energetic cords, what they are, and how they can be made and used. I wrote this off the seat of my pants, but I think I covered everything I intended to. (And it feels hardcore like the old windvexer posts to me, which I’m not bothererd by lol.)
I hope this helps you guys, or inspires you, or whatever. If you have any more questions, I… guess I can open my ask box, as long as y’all behave. Good luck, and have fun!

Additionally: you can get NewPipe through here, a youtube frontend with NO ADS
Also plenty of mobile games for free with NO ADS
If you hate capitalism, or just really like free stuff that's cool, check this out:
Have any of your gotten frustrated by Google's Play store? If so, check out F-Droid
It's a store that has open source apps which are described honestly by their creators because they're not trying to sell you something. It actually lists "anti-features" of apps right after the "features" list so you know all the flaws too.
I found the Saber notes app on it, which is actually also on Google Play but is drowned out there by all the other more annoying less functional apps.

Hi! Can one ask for a confirmation sign from a diety to see if they want to work with you?
Just so we're clear, we don't mean work with as in like religious or spiritual worship, right?
We mean work with as in contractually involving that god in your sorcerous practices, right?
Because I've genuinely never heard of pagan gods from open traditions being like "nope, don't want your worship."
I mean maybe it happens. Idk, I'm not a pagan. You should ask a pagan about that kind of stuff.
But I am a witch (probably) and I do "work with" gods, sometimes, for the exclusive intent of sorcery, and I have noted that not all gods want that kind of business relationship with just anyone, and so for the purposes of non-spiritual, non-religious witchcraft which has nothing to do with worship or veneration or learning from a god for personal growth and spiritual pursuit,
I mean like we're talking paying a god for goods and services as a part of like getting Becky fired or securing a great mortgage on your new home,
YES, you can ask for a confirmation that a deity wants to "work with you,"
and indeed for the purposes of non-venerating sorcerous witchcraft it is probably a good idea to check first.
First, it is a good idea to build a temporary little shrine to that god, decorating it in polite and respectful ways, and leaving a small offering once a day for three days.
(This is simply a polite way of making an introduction if you and that god have never met before).
Each day while leaving the offering, express your intent through words, signing, or writing, such as: "Hello [god]. I have heard you are very talented in [such and such] domain. I would like to work with you in exchange for offerings or other services, in order for you to provide me with boons or aide that I seek. Specifically, I want your help with [this certain spell]."
If this god also has hymns or poems from lore that you can recite, that is all the better.
On the third day, after all this has been done, pull out a tarot deck. Say something like, "Hello, [god]. I have made my introduction to you for the purposes of working with you towards sorcerous ends. I now seek your reply. Are you willing to work with me towards [magical goal]? Let this deck speak your answer."
Shuffle and draw a card. If it is a swords card, the tower, or the devil, the answer is "no." Any other card may indicate "yes," with certain omens (such as the World, Sun, and Magician) indicating more enthusiastic agreement.
If you have a "yes" answer, go about negotiating the contract of service.
If you have a "no" answer, be like, "cool, I appreciate you letting me know," dismantle the shrine, and hit up another god to be your business partner.
Of course, if your intent is to just develop a personal spiritual relationship with divinity in order to grow as a person and learn more about yourself and nice stuff like that, none of this is necessary.

Sobek is an Egyptian deity of fertility and life, who created the Nile river with his own sweat, and brought life to the whole river. He’s also well known for being a god who enjoys of terrenal pleasures, as food and sex. “Serve me, and your pleasures will have no end” (Ok, I need MUCH MORE practice with colour).

"And it's not like the spell is locked behind a glass wall in some faraway astral space (or at least, it shouldn't be... it can be. This is too much for one post, let's stay on topic)" oh please, please elaborate! 🙏
its all well and good for me to use a metaphor that magic is ever-present and really close at hand, nigh tangible, even,
but there's obviously more than that to successful manifestation.
like it's an actual large deal in practical sorcery of how the hell you get the spell to do something, or much more relevantly do what you want it to do.
so a while ago I used to talk on manifestation using a metaphor that there is a conceptual sphere of glass that separates physical reality from magical reality.
as the metaphor (analogy?) would have it, you can set intent and focus willpower and manipulate astral energies all you want, but those things are stuck in magical reality, blocked from manifesting in the physical world by the glass.
so the spell, obviously it's a good boy and it wants to be helpful, it's going around and around the glass looking for a crack or a foothold to find its way into physical reality.
but this spell is made out of a finite blob of energy. sooner or later, the battery is going to run dry. and all that time it's spending trying to get into our world is burning energy.
by the time it gets here, it could have burned a lot of energy and it doesn't have a lot left to produce strong results. or maybe it doesn't find its way at all.
if this is all true, then the solution is to make cracks in the glass yourself.
overall it's a pretty rough analogy and I'm not even terribly sure if I'd consider it to be more than a parable at this point.
to mash this idea together with the underwater shark thing, the concept would sort of be like...
okay, so let's say metaphorically half of a person is above water and the rest is underwater.
and we're where there are sharks, which means the WHOLE OCEAN is under there.
maybe the ocean is an elegant metaphor for the supreme depths of magical reality. certain layers of magical reality are very close to the surface and truly are interacting with the floating humans, right?
but we can go deeper, and deeper, and deeper.
it wouldn't be true to say that a fish from a mile down is touching the floating humans. it's actually really far away and has a long way to travel before it could touch them at all.
so hypothetically, while all humans are (hypothetically) always partially within magical reality, that doesn't mean that everything within magical reality is close to them or can easily access them.
and this would also be true of spells, when the sorcerer has inadequately developed the spell too far down (or too far up), or failed to properly draw the spell to the surface.
of course, all of these ideas assume it's true that when spells are created they exist somewhere far away, or in any location at all.
just to clarify I think all of these ideas are most useful when treated as thought exercises and not in any sense literal. I think its perhaps true of witchcraft, or at least the kinds of witchcraft I'm familiar with, that one of the witch's primary sorcerous (and mystical) jobs is to "bridge the gap" and learn how to bring things back and forth between our world and the spirit world.
but even that being said, I think there's an element of mysticism in sorcerous witchcraft. I think maybe the best way to talk about it is in stories, or extended spatial analogies, because that's just about the truest way some of it can ever be written down.
sometimes I feel like if anyone can really write it down, like step-for-step for real, then it's got to be one tiny part of it. because it's a big machine out there, you know. it's so decadently complex that it might be more alive than we are.
so it's good to know how one or two cells work, step-for-step. but in the bigger picture, maybe the best way to impart knowledge is in stories and poetry.
and with some step-for-step details of the biology of a few kinds of cells, and with some nice poetry, maybe a person can crest a cliff and see something that will put its own stories inside of their mind forever.
which is to say that I don't know how magic works but i've seen some nice landscapes out there ✌

find some stuff to do magic about (feat. practicing sorcery is fun and good)
Do you want to do magic? Yes. Do you know what to do magic on? Maybe not. Here is a post for that. Take what you like and leave the rest behind.
Confront your learned helplessness face on because I'll bet money that there's a shit ton of stuff in your life you'd change if you hadn't trained yourself to pave it over just to make your highway of life a little less bumpy.
Let me tell you something I believe. I believe that most all of us have been trained to think that:
wanting things to go well,
wanting to be happy,
wanting little joys and pleasures in life,
and wanting not to be aggravated by the small things
somehow makes us weak, lacking, immature, or insecure,
or even worse,
that putting up with bullshit is somehow automatically makes us a better person, as if we've all got a cosmic thermometer that won't ding "good person!" until we've had it up to here with bullshit and then still force ourselves to grin and bear it.
"If I do magic to shorten the Starbucks drive-through doesn't that make me impatient? I don't want to use magic as spiritual bypassing in order to avoid my flaws."
Well then. Far be it from me to decry the kratophany of Prometheus getting his liver pecked out by eagles every day, manifest in your sacred sacrifice of having your minutes pecked out of your day, one by one, as you wait in line.
Make a list. Keep it with you. On paper, on your phone. Doesn't matter. It's a list of things you'd like to change. Little fleeting things that rear their head only for a second or so before our industrial-powered steamrollers smash it into the ground. Big things that you stew over day to day.
No problem is too petty. No splinter in your side is too insignificant. Betty at the office blows her nose every day at 8:15am and if you have to hear it one more time you are going to burn the building down? Put it on the list.
Do you have to leave 20 minutes early for work on Thursdays because a freight train blocks the freeway for five minutes and your city backs up like Betty's nose? What is magic going to do, rearrange the city's entire traffic patterns? Maybe so. Who cares. That's magic's problem, not yours. Put it on the list.
Have your eye on quite a cute designer bag? Does it cost your monthly rent? Put it on the list.
Learn to stare your life in the eye again with the verv of someone who has just found a reality-warping gun with unlimited ammunition. Game night gets cancelled too often? You never remember to use your pizza coupons? You can never remember to get ginger ale at the store? Put it on the list.
Feed yourself what ails you like a crab going absolutely bonkers in a plankton-filled tank.
just do some of that normal "witchy" stuff, why not
Protections: Not only for spirits and stuff!
Against unwanted solicitors
Against your room mate's creepy partner coming over
Against debt collectors finding your new phone number
Against surprise quizzes in your course
Against nightmares
And from time to time a sorcerer does like a good house ward. Experiment with yours, why not? Waiting until you're under attack to learn how to put up protections is like waiting until you're drowning to learn swimming. Sure, the sheer adrenaline-fueled terror might get you somewhere - or it might get in the way.
You don't normally use altars? Build one, why not. Build secret ones in shoe boxes. Experiment with altars and compound magic.
Perhaps you'd like a mini spellcasting kit to go? I don't know if making one counts as doing magic, but it's fun to make them.
Why not develop and prepare an oil or incense blend that must steep for a few months before it's ready? You don't need it now, right? So that means it's prime time to make things that are supposed to "mature" before use.
And hey, what's the deal with cleansing? A lot of people make fun of it now. Some people say it's important and necessary. Why not get really into cleansing and develop your own take? Practice gentle cleansing, nuclear cleansing, cleansing with pure energy and cleansing with candles, cleansing with cleaning products and cleansing with joy.
casting a spell right now is not the same thing as activating it right now and you can still gain a lot of experience in magic without releasing spells into the wild
I think that a lot of people think of spells as I light the candle and the spell is activated and it goes and does the thing, so if there is no Thing right now, then I can't cast the spell,
whereas if you reframed it as I am creating a spell-creachur that will hibernate in this little vessel until I spill it out into the world,
you may actually find that there are dozens of spells for you to actively develop, experiment with, cast, learn from, and passively benefit from - without necessarily needing any of them right now.
And the benefit is, if you don't actually need it right now, that takes a ton of pressure off of you. If you're not acting out of desperation, experimentation can be very fun indeed.
What about the most intense jaw-breakingly stupid strong protective amulet you've ever conceived of? Make it, why not. Make five prototypes on your journey to the strongest danged protection amulet this side of social media.
Who cares if you don't need them? Maybe some day you'll meet someone who does. Or, you know, magic is fun and doing it is its own reward.
What about a talisman for dreamwork and astral travel? Make something that reeks so intensely of the moon that it launches people out of their bodies just by walking past it.
Decide to perfect the most dazzling money-drawing candle spell. Make that your thing. You don't need cash right now? No worries; donate it to charity.
Have fun. Experiment. Made something that came through a little too hard and now it's causing problems? What a wonderful opportunity to learn how to disassemble a spell vessel.
Make yourself a cabinet full of enchantments. Learn how to contain the energy radiating off of all those enchantments. Realize you need more space and learn to combine multiple similar enchantments into one vessel.
make trusting friends who will let you cast on them.
(self explanatory)
#Magic#Thanks for the ideas#We keep not doing magic because so many of the decisions are hard#And because we rarely feel there's anything we need to magic#So this legit helps i think#Witchcraft#spellwork#Spellcraft

How do I strip the everloving fuck out of your home's energetic microbiome. do I just put big salt on everything?
We are in reference to this post.
> Engage in the help of Allies who are already known to have good ability in Cleansing (once again have to champion my bud Bay Leaf) > Instead of asking them for normal help ("let no ill-intention last!") ask them for Big Help ("sterilize this room from all energies to the point where it's a horrifying deadzone that even my pets will avoid!") > Take necessary magical actions to apply your intent and permission to the operation (steps of enchantment, etc) > Expect that this operation will be more draining for you than any typical cleansing
I find it easier to work in a good deal of enchantment over something infusing or simmering, because you've got the repeated shaking or stirring motions. So if you have trouble packing a big wallop of magical energy, try making a simmer pot or a vinegar infusion.
But even so, it should only take you an afternoon to absolutely ruin your house's vibes.
Since we're on about fucking with your own environment in pursuit of finding out, try way over-doing it in one specific room only, and performing a normal gentle cleansing on a second room, and then leaving the rest of the home untouched. Compare and contrast, take notes, etc.
Hey! This post is talking about intentionally making a space uncomfortable to be in, and in my experience, it can take days for the sterilized space to return to normal. Please don't do this if you actively rely on your space's current vibes for necessary comfort and relaxation.

This is also why I don't know how to recommend spells to people because to me most spells are just:
Find a Guy who's really good at the thing (probably other people talk about how good he is)
Ask him to do the thing for you
Provide auxiliary support to make his job easier (and say please and thank you!)
And one Guy can often do a lot of things. Like, Rosemary can help with memory problems, sleep, cleansing, protection, healing, and nightmares.
So you can show up and say, "Rosemary, when I drink this tea of you, please infuse me with good memory so I can remember important details of this upcoming conversation."
Or, "Rosemary, when I hang up this sachet of you, please stand as a sentinel of my sleep and guard against bad dreams."
Or, "Rosemary, when I place your pot by the front door, please cleanse the air of all sickness that may enter, and keep the home healthy."
(And yeah, there are Techniques to this, but that's not what this post is about)
But the problem is that sometimes, the Guy might not be that helpful until you get to know him a little more and things get chill between you two. Or he might show you hidden aspects to himself that are not common and not talked about by other people.
So you can get into a situation where you've been hanging with Rosemary for a while and have a really weird dream and all of the sudden, Rosemary can make other people tell you the truth.
That's not a Rosemary correspondence and it's probably not something that other people can do with Rosemary.
But it's something you can do with Rosemary because you've gotten to know each other on a friend level.
A missing factor for me, and maybe for other people, was treating spellwork like a potion-making game where you just gather X amount of Y-aligned correspondence and if you mix enough of them you get a Potion of Y.
Like if you need protection, you just go to a correspondence list and find enough Protection-aligned plants (regardless of how they work or their personalities or attributes) and put them together in a bag and saying an unrelated charm or prayer that you say no matter which plants you put in the bag.
Which is how people end up with 50 little jars of dead plants that stay dead because they have no connection to them, still looking up what ingredients to use in which spells.
Which is fine, but it's also like... not necessarily what everyone is looking for.
So my point is that if correspondences are reduced to 4-5 purposes on a chart, then you get the correspondence brainrot which is like "which kitchen herb is a gentle cleanser, and which kitchen herb is a strong cleanser," when the reality is that if a guy can Cleanse he can show up gently or strongly in his own unique way,
And it all makes more sense by just treating him like a Guy and asking him to do what you need to do.
I genuinely think that if a practitioner is looking for something deeper and more relational in their practice, a really good way is to scale everything back and start using like one activated (evoked, prayed over, petitioned, etc.) Ally in each spell and just asking if he, as a Guy, can or wants to do something for you.
Like if you go absolutely bonkers over a good cup of Chamomile tea, what's the harm in asking Chamomile to cleanse for you? What's the harm in asking Chamomile to protect your home, or bless your sleep?
At the very least you're going to begin learning a lot about Chamomile in an interpersonal way, where you can begin understanding the "correspondence" for yourself. And you can also learn some fucking cool stuff, like, isn't it weird that when I ask Chamomile to protect my home, we all started finding little bits of cash we had lost?
Idk. Magic is just easier when more things are Guys.
#r posting#You have literally just filled in a knowledge/understanding gap that i've been trying to fill for so damn long#Thank you#Witchcraft#Spellcraft#Spiritwork

what cards do you think represent "same as usual" in context of a daily spread? i always feel like im expecting something crazy to happen whenever i do a daily spread to see how my day will play out
Great question. I do not do daily spreads so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice on this.
But here are some ideas.
1. All cards are "same as usual" unless you get really wicked specific portents of something big happening.
E.g., only major arcana cards indicate something big is going down.
Or, all cards specifically point towards backstabbing and lies.
Or, all cards are King cards (perhaps indicating a person?).
You can develop specific portents for yourself. E.g., when you do your special daily spread, an Ace indicates that something really big is going to be coming up, so cards have to be pair with Aces to get an "it's going down" meaning.
This is kind of more related to Lenormand type stuff and if you're looking to expand your reading skills, learning Lenormand is a fun way to look at tarot in a new light.
2. Expand your understanding of card meanings to include small ideas.
7/Swords doesn't have to be an act of betrayal towards you from a coworker or whatever. It could be an uncomfortable memory that you haven't dwelled on for a long time popping up to ruin about 20 minutes of your day.
The Knight/Wands doesn't have to be a dashing new adventurer who comes into your life, it could be an exciting but brief creative idea that you ruminate on during a coffee break but then forget about.
Personally I'd recommend this take if your goal is to get better at tarot specifically because it's useful to challenge our notions of what the cards can be.
3. Don't use tarot for daily draws.
Such a cop-out answer, I know. But, I have never been able to sustain a daily draw practice because I personally think tarot sucks for daily draws.
I think tarot is a really great system for what it is, which is displaying broad and typically spiritual archetypes and concepts that are best used for a bird's-eye view of large situations, and not only that, but situations which lend themselves to the microcosm proposed by the tarot.
When you get right down to it, there's a lot of shit in day-to-day living that simply is not represented in the tarot at all, or if it is, is a niche meaning or one you might even have to invent yourself.
Other systems of cartomancy, like using playing cards or Lenormand, tend to lend themselves much more readily to "mundane" questions. And learning them can make you a better tarot reader.
4. If it's about learning tarot, do your daily draw at the end of the day.
Even doing this temporarily can help you understand how cards relate to the more common stuff that's going on.

The Wellness Wheel Tarot Spread
**Based on a concept discussed in one of my counseling courses, where each slice of the wheel represents a section of your life and how well you feel like you’re doing in that area**
The idea behind this spread is to pull one card for each area of wellness to give you an idea of how you can improve that area of wellness. Under each section of wellness I’ve included just a few topics that might relate to that section. You can ask about a specific topic or just the overall area of wellness for each card.
1. Spiritual Wellness
-Connection to nature
-Belief in the divine
-Connection to a community
-Sense of self or sense of purpose
-Meaning in life
2. Financial Wellness
-Abundance and income
-Stability
-Paid vs. Unpaid work
-Productivity and work ethic
3. Physical Wellness
-Sleep
-Diet and exercise
-Medical appointments
-Medication/ vitamins
4. Emotional Wellness
-Awareness and acceptance of emotions
-Mindfulness
-Ability to Identify and express emotions
-Emotional stability/ regulation
-Use of positive coping strategies
5. Social Wellness
-Healthy and positive interactions
-Communication
-Sense of community
-Hobbies
-Social connections to family, friends, pets etc.
6. Intellectual Wellness
-Stimulating activities
-Challenges and engagement
-Productivity
-Continued learning
7. Environmental Wellness and Safety
-Do you feel safe in your immediate environment?
8. Overall Wellness
-What do you need to know to raise your wellness overall?

What the Fuck Am I Doing? Tarot spread
(Please excuse the poor editing I did this on my phone)
1) What should I be focusing on?
What needs to be done that I am not/cannot seem to focus on? What is my goal? What should I be doing?
2) What am I thinking about instead?
What's distracting me? What is keeping my attention away from what I need to do?
3) Why is it distracting me?
Extra cards optional, pull as many as you need to figure out the root of the problem
4) How do I refocus?
What do I do to get rid of this block? How do I move past the distraction? How do I solve the root issue of the distraction? Again, pull as many as you need.
