anyway yeah jwells said gallavich exists and got the outcome they did solely because how hard fans pushed for it and yes their storyline and scenes in the last 2 seasons were probably by that definition 'fanservice' but also honestly i'm sick of hearing that word be associated with scorn and negativity
shameless screwed up as a show quite often and was far far from perfect but it also gave two kids who went through tragedy after tragedy one of the happiest endings i can think of in modern television and let them fall and stay in love and work towards healing without sugarcoating the bumpy road that healing can and will always be
i can't stress how important it is to not only see happy endings for queer stories but also to see happy endings for survivors of trauma and people with mental illness especially because it unfortunately does not happen enough in a media landscape that seems obsessed with shock value and tragedy porn
so many of us see ourselves in fictional characters for various reasons and to see that you and other people like you can and will be okay, can and will be better than okay, and that there is hope no matter what you're going through right now is so fundamental to our existence that i hardly have the words to describe its power (anyone who has felt their heart sink like a stone when a character they loved and identified with met a terrible end and couldn't figure out why and how it managed to leave them shaken up for days on end will Get It)
so yes i keep thinking of how if fans had a part in making the ending of their story a reality and delivering that bit of hope for so many that's now here to stay and no one can take it away - if that's not something to commemorate and celebrate then i don't know what is

noelfisher: "The fearless one. It takes courage to embrace the totality of who you are; the good, the scary, the downright confusing. To build yourself up, piece by piece, into the kind of person you want to be and, with any luck, the person you truly are. That commitment to self-discovery, self-improvement, and when the work has been put in, self-acceptance; that’s Ian’s superpower. His dedication to this inner journey is what makes Ian special. It allows him to overcome any obstacle that might come his way and stand up for himself and the people he loves. But the truly remarkable thing about Ian’s inner courage is that it’s infectious. To put it simply, he’s brave and an undeniable reminder to those around him; they can be brave too. #Shameless"

Guys its true it looks like Mickey is pulling himself up like he's about to get on Ian's lap and Ian's right hand is grabbing his husband's waist to help situate him. Why do they always gotta cut them short?? I wanna see how this kiss ends dammit!
