I am excited to share my new collection of night sky, startrail timelapses. These trails were created by blending hundreds of long exposure images for each individual timelapse. The intro sequences are a blend of startrail timelapses mixed with regular night sky timelapses to create a singular shooting star effect. This was a super fun passion project to work on over the years, I have a few more time-blended videos to share in the near future!

‘Space to Roam’ is a film inspired by all the unique structures, patterns, and overall “otherworldly” landscapes found in Southwestern America’s public lands in hopes of protecting them. 

This project is dedicated to the people who preserve the history of and protect our public lands. It is also in honor of 'astronaut' Kyle Hague's grandmother who unfortunately passed away during production.

I vividly remember my first experience of New York City as a kid, before I became a photographer. The shear sense of scale, the incredible architecture and just the over all feeling I got walking around the city. That experience became one of the reasons I got into photography. Ever since then, it has been my dream to recreate that feeling into a short timelapse film. From the sensory overload of standing on a busy New York street corner. To the tranquility of standing on a skyscraper, like being on top of the world. This is a dedication to my favorite city in the world.

"Liberty" Is a visual journey through New York City captured through timelapse and hyperlapse photography. The video consists of about 15,000 still photographs captured from 2016-2018.

This time I wanted to expand upon the idea, creating scenes that feel like new worlds in alternate universes. I utilized camera techniques such as hyperlapse and aerial video to further showcase the surrealism in the video. Arrival of Light - Dolomites Timelapse 4K from Michael Shainblum on Vimeo.

I am proud to share my second timelapse film featuring the Dolomites in Italy. As the summer storms pass through, these mountains can be fogged in for long periods of time. Waiting them out can feel like a lost cause sometimes. Every once in awhile the storms break just enough to reveal some of the most incredible light. This video showcases the progression of the storm through the dark clouds and then focuses in on that special moment, when the light finally hits.

Some places seem like they were ripped straight from the pages of a fairytale, Cinque Terre is definitely one of those places. The coastline has five villages which are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park. I was lucky enough to spend a few days shooting timelapse of this beautiful place. The towns featured in this video are Manarola, Riomaggiore and Vernazza.

I travelled 5500 km in six weeks exploring the vast landscapes of British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, always looking to place my camera gear in the most beautiful sceneries possible.

With 54.000 single photos shot along the way I created ALIVE - a timelapse film which takes you on a vivid journey through wild forests, along the shores of crystal lakes and up the hills of massive mountains.

By making this project, I want to raise awareness of our wonderful planet earth which we have the privilege to be part of. That’s why we have to take responsibility for it - for the place where we are alive.
