My Acquired Knowledge

In our subject ICT, i have learned a lot when it comes to technology, security online and other skills in using application such as Microsoft Word. Based of what i learned, The use of numerous technologies, such as cell phones, telephones, computers , the Internet and other gadgets, as well as software and apps to find, store, transmit and control information, is also the subject of information and communication technology. Data and communication technology is now the focus of the use of various devices to distribute and monitor information.

Due to the enormous development of ICT-related employment, one of it which is BPO(Business Process Outsourcing), or call centers, the Philippines is referred to as the "ICT Hub of Asia." It had a huge influence on culture and business when the internet was fully commercialized in 1995. With the advent of near-instant email communication, instant messages, telephone, two-way digital video calls, and the World Wide Web with its chat boards, blogs , social networking, and online shopping portals.  The Internet is the global web of interconnected data networks that communicate between networks and computers using the Internet Protocol Suite.

The World Wide Web is an Internet information system that uses hypertext connections to bind documents to other documents, allowing the user to browse for information by going from one document to another. Tim-Berners Lee invented it. The program for the World Wide Web browser, such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer and more kinds of browser helps users to move through the hyperlinks found in documents from one web page to another, the Web has allowed individuals and organizations to publish ideas and information at a dramatically reduced cost and time delay to a potentially broad audience online.

There are three types of web the first one is web 1.0 or "the web", that is the first step of the evolution of the World Wide Web, it is a flat or stationary website, because the user is unable to control it. Next is the Web 2.0 or "the social web", it encourages people to connect with the website, enabling the user to comment or create an account for the user. The bulk of the websites we are visiting today are Web 2.0.0. Lastly, the web 3.0 or "semantic web". The semantic web offers a platform that facilitates the exchange and reuse of information to provide web content directly targeted at the user. From each search we do, the Search Engine will learn about us and our habits and compile information about us from our previous behaviors such as likes and social posts and display the answers according to your preferences.

There are also some trends in ICT. First is the Technological Convergence, the synergy between developments in technology to work towards a common purpose or task. Second, Social Media. It's a website, program, or online channel that allows web users to produce, co-create, debate, alter, and upload user-generated content. Third, Mobile Technologies. It's over the years, the use of smartphones and tablets has grown dramatically. This is primarily attributed to the willingness of the machines to do functions originally found in personal computers. The fourth one is Assistive Technology, any computer, program, or equipment that helps individuals solve their problems.

Online platforms also amazed me because it has been used to describe a variety of Internet platforms, including markets, search engines , social media, innovative entertainment channels, app stores, communications services , payment systems and many more. Presentation or Visualization, Cloud Computing, File Management, Mapping and social media are part of online platforms.

Netiquette is no longer new to others but it is the most important thing that we need to apply in ourselves because netiquette is a code of good behaviour on the Internet, just as etiquette is like a code of having a respectful behaviour in society. On the their side, There are several threats in the internet that's why we must considerate some reminders for us to be aware such as avoid giving private information about us and our personal life, we must be mindful in what we shared online, make sure that the site we're visiting is secured, read the terms and conditions before first before we accept it, do not share our passwords to others and make sure that we use strong kind of passwords, avoid talking to strangers whether online or face to face and lastly, do not post any information about our future vacation. These kind of reminders will help us to be safe in the internet world.

The last thing that i learned in my subject ICT are skills in manipulating app such as Microsoft Word. Microsoft's word processor was developed and first launched on October 25, 1983. It is the most useful software for me because i helps me a lot in doing my activities and also improves my creativity in some aspects. Microsoft Word have its own environment that contains the options and the menu bar, features that helps us executing our documents properly, keyboard shortcuts to make our time manageable in doing our activity, customizing a document and many more that is useful in helping us to do our works. The activity that we did in this topic was mail merging. It's a simple function that contains Microsoft Word data which helps us to build several documents at once, such as emails, saving our time and effort to retype the same letter over and over again. We also did an infographic that promotes our strand. Over all the topics that we learned in this subject, i liked it all because it gave me a deeper meaning about technologies, online safety, social media platforms and about software that i use in my everyday life.
