Do you have a sister? Or younger sibling? I'm really struggling cause she about to finish school and suffers from her fair share of mental health issues, but I find our relationship so difficult, like she wants independence and not to be told what to do and to live her own life which are all things I understand, but at the same time I'm 4 yrs older and know better, just cause of life. So I find it hard to be her friend, but am dying to be close with her and able to help.

I understand where you’re coming from. My little sister and I have a 14 year age gap lol so it’s a rough balance in trying to mother her while being her friend. The honest to God truth is…people learn things the hard way. Like it’s harder to understand stuff just by taking someone’s word for it. Many people told me a lot of things, but I learned my lesson from difficult experiences. and it sucks because you dont want to see them go through the same pain but…that’s a natural part of growing up. we can’t protect and shelter them from everything, as much as we want to :/ Be her friend. Be her confidant. Gain her trust, and eventually she will take your word for things. But you can’t protect her from everything sis, i know you want to but that’s just the way the world is set up. Make sure when she’s down she knows she can come to you and you can help her in that way. in the mean time, definitely advise her on the right thing to do. Good luck!!
