saw a TikTok comment that I think deserves to be shared

it’s canon that the only person who made mike wheeler truly GENUINELY happy, told him he’s loved for who he is as a person, described his leadership qualities + what he does for people + how he’s needed and gave him more strength than everyone else in the show combined, is WILL BYERS.

his best friend who’s in love with him is the only person that made him feel truly loved. more than anyone in his family, more than his girlfriend, more than his other friends.

mike was suffering in silence and drowning in insecurities and anxiety until will gave him that painting and said all those beautiful words to him.

it was will. this is canon. this is literally in the show.

will using el’s name to lie changes nothing, it only makes it more embarrassing for those trying to make excuses or defend mike and el’s relationship even after everything we’ve seen. because those words were all will’s. those feelings were all will’s. that painting was carefully crafted by will’s hands only while he was thinking of mike and all the reasons he loves him. that entire van scene wasn’t about anybody else except for WILL’S LOVE FOR MIKE, and THAT is what made mike the happiest he looked all season.

and what shows will’s kindness and selflessness and proves his unconditional love for mike even more? the fact that he sacrificed his own feelings and lied. THAT proves he loves him more than anyone else. because you would have to have such an incredible amount of courage, strength and love for a person to do that and hurt yourself so they can be happy with someone else.

will not only gave mike strength, but gave someone else (el) credit for it, which makes it so much more gut wrenching and completely unacceptable if they just leave it like that and let mike and el stay together. like seriously, i don’t think any writing decision would disgust me more than that, ESPECIALLY after doing it to a traumatised gay kid who has suffered enough.
