Of course I don't know what kind of a book you guys wanna read--very different from what Elriels want to read--but an MMC being a little lapdog to his High Lord, doing everything he is ordered and not fighting for anything doesn't make for a great romantasy book.

I am going to be honest, I don't think that SJM will make Azriel Rhys's lil bitch and Azriel would just fold and say, well, if Rhys said no, then it's a no.

But hey, if that's your wet dream, enjoy it!

He was actively trying to keep himself under control in a room full of people and Elain’s mate, and he followed her laugh.

But, sure. That’s just lust. He’s not in love with her at all.

Its stated explicitly that Elain has joy, and purpose, and friends.

Nesta was the most miserable at the Night Court. She had no friends, pushed people away, and physically looked ill. If anyone was going to leave it was her.

Elain is constantly shown to be in good health, happy, has hobbies she participates in, has friends, is repairing her relationship with Feyre, and even feeling comfortable enough to come out of her shell and show new facets of her personality.

Also, peep that Elain’s smile was as bright as the setting sun. Dusk Court, the Prison, the Last Sister peak.

Elain may look ill suited in the Court of Nightmares but as she herself said, this is her court too. Dusk for Elain the quiet dreamer in the Court of Dreams.

For if the Court of Nightmares is the darkest part of night, where nightmares take hold, so too is Dusk the beginning of the night and dreams.

Dusk. Where light and dark meet.

Dusk, the last peak, the last mountain to be conquered. Three sister peaks, three sister Archerons. UTM for Feyre, Ramiel for Nesta, The Prison (Dusk) for…Elain.

There’s more to the Dusk Court that I think links Elain in HOFAS—maybe I’ll get around to posting it one day.

You want to see the switch up from elriel to gwynriel after acosf? Look no further than good reads.

If Sarah wanted to convey that elriel was going to be endgame in acosf and the bonus she failed miserably. Most people that read the bonus are disgusted by how az acts with elain.Their part comes across as hollow and icky. Why do you think that is?

Here is the thing.

And I’m gonna be blunt here.

You don’t need to force yourselves to like Azriel.

Because you clearly don’t.

None of you actually like him as a character. None of you accept him.

Your entire platform is all about changing him. Changing his personality. Changing his thoughts. Changing his feelings.

Yiu hate that he likes Elain. You hate that he is against the Elucien bond. You resent him for standing up to Rhys and for wanting Lucien out of the way.

He is lustful. Disgusting. His thoughts are gross. His attitude is appalling. He needs therapy. He is deranged, he is rude, he doesn’t know what he wants.

According to you people read the bonus and are disgusted by him and his thoughts. His thoughts are icky. His attitude is hollow.

The question is…what exactly are you fighting so hard over?

You clearly detest him as he is right now. All you are clinging to is some idea of him drastically changing his entire personality and his behavior.

You’ve been fighting for five years over a boring character that you deeply dislike and yet you want to put him together with a rape survivor when you can’t even handle him thinking sexual thoughts.

What you saw in the bonus and in hofas is exactly how SJM sees him. This IS the character. He isn’t going to change. She LIKES him the way he is. That’s how he is in her mind.

If you think that she is going to change her writing and how she views him, you’ll be sorely disappointed. You’ve had a bunch of books with Azriel. He isn’t changing.

So again, I ask, what are you fighting for? A character you couldn’t really care about and who you hope will be rewritten completely to satisfy your purity culture-centric views that doesn’t allow for ‘icky thoughts’ and ‘disgusting actions’ (whilst all he did was touch a girl’s neck).

I think it’s time to really check yourselves.

Elain and Azriel may not have a mating bond between them, but they’re still drawn to each other in an unexplainable way. I cannot wait to see the heated moments this connection leads them into. We will likely see them trying to resist their connection for a while, but ultimately, the pull is too strong to ignore.

What I really love about Elain and Azriel is that I never expected to love them that much... Like everyone else, I started the series for Feysand's sake, and I loved them, but then Elain and Azriel's story unfolded to me on the sidelines -- quiet yet noticeable -- and when I finished acosf, I really wouldn't have given too much thought to the series overall. I remember that I told my best friend that it's overrated and started ranting about Elain and who she's going to end up with.

I moved on with my life, read different books, but Elain and Azriel wouldn't leave me. I kept rereading their scenes over and over, digging for their fanart, looking for theories and people's opinions about them (which I still really regret, because you know what I found), and then came the most shocking reveal of my life — that Elriel ship was really hated. By manyyy people who are active in the fandom’s online spaces...

And I kept asking myself, why? What is there to hate about two of the least troublesome characters in the entire series? But now I can understand. I've found many answers to that. Elriel isn’t hated but rather unaccepted by many, who think that their opinion over a couple in love will change the course that Elain's book will take.

Elriel, as a ship, is too real for many readers who think that being loud, hateful, and mean to other people — who only want them to be together — will ever change the fact that these two are meant to be.

Elriel will always have a special place in my heart, not out of defending them or feeling protective of them — they are fictional characters that don't exist — but because simply, I loved them a lot. And that is real, beautiful, and mine to cherish forever.

I’m going to call it now. Elriel’s mate bond will predate Lucien’s.

We saw this with the other sisters and their subsequent bat boys. Before they were turned and the bond snapped into place through acceptance, Feysand and Nessian knew each other before they were turned and mated.

Reality check: Azriel in general predates knowing Elain before Lucien ever did.

For all the antis who say Lucien deserves his mate, ugh no, Azriel was always first and I fully believe he has always been her true mate from the start.
