“ No that a friend at all, just so tool that thought he could put his hands on me.” She huffed standing up. Hope had changed a lot since her Hogwarts days. She didn’t have to hide who she was anymore and she grew tougher. “ I hope I didn’t ruin your evening.” She said.

“Nope, he’s not a friend of mine either,” he said with a small smile. “I don’t think he’ll be doing that again to anyone else any time soon.”

Lily felt her cheeks starting to warm as she averted her gaze and hung her head. She’d only been outside, alone, for approximately five minutes and thought it had been safe to do so. “I’m sorry,” she muttered, looking up at Kingsley. 

“No, you don’t---” She shouldn’t have to be sorry. He sighed and gave her an apologetic smile, “No, I’m sorry. But there was some incident earlier today near here and I just think it would be wise to stay away from the area for a while.”

“No but sometimes risks are worth taking.”

“Because they’re not,” he replied simply, attempting a somewhat comforting smile despite his cold words. “How are you doing? Ignoring all of that mess?”

“You know I would never do that, mate, being reckless I mean. These streets are scary nowadays.”

“Yeah, things are...” he trailed off, not even sure how to put in concisely. “Are you doing alright then, Amos?”

“We can barely breathe freely these days, never mind be reckless,” he said, rubbing his eyes in frustration.

Amelia instantly rolled her eyes. “I know that Kingsley, no need to remind me,” she stated.

“Alright, alright,” he said with a small sigh, giving her a smile. “You just never know these days.”

Lucy rolled her eyes at his lecturing. “ Last time I remember you aren’t my father and have no business lecturing me, Shacklebolt.” She said. “ I can do what I please, but thanks for the advice.”

“I’m not lecturing you, I’m just trying to give you some advice,” he replied. “But that fine if you don’t want to take it.” He couldn’t force people to be careful.

“I’m doing just fine, Shacklebolt, no need to get like that. How have you been anyhow?”

“If you say so,” he replied, seeing no point in arguing further. “As well as can be expected. I heard you’re playing for the Magpies?”

   Greta childishly puffed out her cheeks in minor frustration, heaving a sigh. “I know, okay?” Her hands fell to her hips, facing him off at her semi-laughable five foot five height. “I appreciate that you mean well but I am fine. I just– got a little turned around is all. I wasn’t off gallivanting, gleefully running amok, or anything of that intentionally reckless sort.” She almost tagged on that it wasn’t like she was one of the more highly-ranked ‘offenders’ under current circumstances but Greta knew that her code didn’t necessarily mean she was safe. 

“I’m not trying to be a dick or boss you around,” he said when she put her hands on her hips. “But I’m just trying to make sure that as few people as possible get caught up in something they can’t get out of.” Kingsley paused, looking her over before he spoke again. “Are you alright?” This time his voice was softer, kinder.

“Yeah I get it. I do but I’m fine I was just grabbing a drink mate” He sighed frowning. “Hey I’m not as reckless as I used to be you have to admit I’m telling the truth there. Come on have one with me just one.”

Kingsley sighed, pausing for a moment before he nodded. “I suppose one can’t hurt,” he said, finally shooting a smile towards Jeremy.

“Good, that gives me some time to catch up,” he replied with a small grin. It had been a long time since Kingsley had let loose, and even longer since he had seen Barty. He ordered a drink as he sat down next to his friend. He sat so he was turned towards Barty, “Where have you been hiding?” he asked, though he knew it was as much his fault as anyone’s that he didn’t see his friends as regularly anymore. 

Barty’s day working his pathetically, annoying job at the Ministry had been just that: annoying.  He hated doing it, but his mother had asked so he’d kept the peace. But, it was still stupid.  He hadn’t wanted anything to do with going home.  So, he’d headed out and started to drink. He’d had one or two..or six, when he sensed someone close, and he looked up and glanced over, speaking not really to them, but he was always one to talk too much anyway.

“I’ve actually not even begun to drink too much.”

Kingsley didn’t exactly know Hope well, be had gotten a fair idea of her personality back in school. With this opinion of her, the last thing he expected was a reaction like that out of her. He raised a brow when she looked over at him, the surprise no doubt clear on his face. “Not a friend?” he questioned, gesturing to the guy who was now stalking away.

Hope leaned against the wall of the pub, scanning the crowd for her friend. There were too many people in the room to see if they were there or not, when she felt someone brush up against her, she ignored it until it came again, she turned to the male telling that she wasn’t interested when he moved to cup her face, she felt her anger rise, without thinking she grabbed his face shoving him to the ground roughly. “ Excuse you.” She glared down at the man, before looking up at the person standing next to her.

“Of course they will!” Kingsley protested, shaking his head. “At the very least, they’ll make top five. That new seeker of their’s is one of the best seekers in decades. As long as the rest of the team keep up, they’ll easily place this year.” Quidditch was something he missed dearly, not having played since he left school. He didn’t seem to have the time anymore.

“I’m going to have to stop you there,” Grayson interrupted, his head shaking back and forth. “There is no way the Wimbourne Wasps are making top three this year, not even top ten!” He scoffed and sipped at his butterbeer. When it came to Quidditch, Grayson just couldn’t help himself; he couldn’t keep his opinions to himself no matter how hard he tried.

“You just need to be more careful,” Kingsley warned, trying not to sound like he was lecturing the other person. “You can’t just go around being so reckless, not anymore.”
