we all know isayama loves his covert storytelling… it’s incredible to me how and why these parallels are orchestrated.

when ymir is blamed by the entire village to be the one who let out the pigs, it’s eventually revealed that no one had proof or saw that ymir did it; it’s suggested that ymir would be the one to do something like that. and that’s in the chapter just before or after levi’s side, if not the same one.

the situation with the pigs - another very prevalent symbol in aot - is the instigator of ymir’s powers and the titan curse in general. she’s demonized and blamed during her life, and her afterlife for that. she must have been blamed for letting herself die during the assassination attempt by the exact same man who she was victimized by since the very beginning too.

there is certainly no winning, but there’s no comfort, or even solace. her daughters begin the first branches of the ‘tree of life’ or coordinate we see in paths, which by the time of canon has branched off millions of times. yet ymir is alone. she’s not dead, but she’s not alive either. what she sought for so long was connection - as armin says.

so it’s so wonderful in a way that levi is depicted pointing her out in front of the coordinate. not to be blamed… but to finally be noticed by someone (and someones) who cares about eren, which at this point, by extension cares about her.

especially levi, though. with what the ackermans represent within the themes i’ve made plenty of other posts about, and with levi’s particular role within aot as a savior-type character, who came from absolutely nothing except for love, being the first to recognize someone who has nothing, and love is all they want.
