Sewer Backed Up?
You may not see a sewer line clog, but it causes extensive damage inside homes.
A homeowner mostly knows that a sewer line disposes waste from the home to the main sewer mains, but beyond that, they do not think about their sewer until they have a clog or back up.
Having a sewer line backing up could lead to sewage coming out of drain into homes and could cause extensive damage leading to a line repair or pipe replacement.
If a homeowner understands early warning signs, they can prevent an entire repair or replacement of their sewer line.
Some things to pay attention to are gurgling sounds coming from a drain or the toilet. Request a camera inspection to determine what is going on in your sewer. Try to avoid using any chemicals because these tend to wear the drain pipe down and could potentially lead to cracks.

How to Use a Plumber’s Snake
Use a pair of rubber gloves that can grip the snake as you work with it. The snake can get very slippery and it can get messy very quickly, so the grips on the gloves will help you hold onto the snake.
When unclogging a toilet, turn off the water to the tank so you do not accidentally flush it and overflow the bowl. To shut off the water to the toilet, just find the valve that is either next to the bowl or behind it and turn it to the right until it is tight.
Using the end of the snake, insert it into the toilet drain or pipe. Feed the wire gently into the pipe and slowly turn the crank to help push the snake further into the line. Keep cranking until you get the snake to advance into the line. Adding some water can help the snake if it seems to not be advancing, but keep in mind that the crank will be more difficult once you reach the clog.
Wiggle the snake back and forth while gently pushing it to help relieve the blockage. If you see a lot of soot on the line, clean off the snake head and repeat this process until the pipe is cleared.
Once you have cleared the clog, remove the snake and turn the water back on. Test the toilet and all other drains in the room to ensure they are functioning properly.

CIPP Rehab: The Best Way to Repair a Broken Sewer
Tumblr media
Construction on the city streets shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody that is a driver in modern day society. The city often has to destroy so much just so they can get under the street and rebuild the sewer lines that have broken down over time. Most people don’t realize as they’re passing the roads being improved upon, that a great deal of the construction happening is largely unnecessary.
The latest and greatest method that requires far less work and collateral damage is called cured in place pipe lining, or CIPP. A pipe can now be repaired with a sealant that makes what was once a broken sewer line into a functioning piece of utility equipment. Made with mostly fiberglass, the new pipe lining can add almost fifty years to the life of a pipe and cost considerably less than a full replacement.
When it comes to CIPP rehabilitation at http://environmentalpipe.com/cure-place-pipe/, fiberglass is just one of the materials that can be used. A lot of the time PVC or felt need to be used to make sure everything works according to plan. What exactly you use varies depending on each pipe you’re trying to fix.
Fiberglass is still the best though when it comes to curing speed as well as overall strength of the repaired pipe. Fiberglass uses an ultraviolet light to allow it to cure and set into a nearly unbreakable fix. If you’re looking to repair a pipe and you know what you’re getting yourself into, chances are that you’re going to make sure fiberglass is involved.
UV light curing has become the industry standard as far as CIPP rehab goes. Heat curing on felt liners used to be the preferred method until then. The felt lining market as steadily declined ever since.
Pipe lining should always be done by an expert with plenty of experience. The pros use robots to clean and view the damage of the broken pipe in order to properly diagnose the lining situation. You don’t put the fiberglass lining in until a pre-liner has first been inserted into the broken pipe. The curing process then begins by using a computer that controls the curing and hardening of the liner by monitoring the UV lights that determine the pressure, speed and temperature at which the lining sets. The cure will soon finish and once it is ready, it will be machine cut and inserted into the pipe via the main entry point. A CIPP liner will harden in under an hour, which isn’t bad considering destroying a city block to achieve the same means with a full pipe replacement could take months to accomplish. If you want to try this method, check it out!
