THE LOOK OF LOVE
Tumblr media
viktor x childhood sweetheart!reader
a/n: first viktor fic.. how are we feeling?? I think this idea of Viktor and his daughter is adorable and I couldn’t sleep until I wrote this so here we are. I hope u guys enjoy and I hope I executed my idea well enough 🙏
word count: 1.8k
PILTOVER was a welcoming place, for all those with big dreams and high hopes. You were 22 when you finally said goodbye to your parents in Zaun for your pursuit of the city of progress. You’d set off with your daughter, Sophia. She was six years old and you’d raised her yourself (with help from your parents), her father unknowingly not in the picture. She was born when you were 16, your unplanned pregnancy surprisingly having the full support of your parents.
It was a sunny day and the 6 month mark of moving to Piltover. You and Sophia were out in town for ice cream in the summer day, messing around together. She meant the world to you, your other half seeing as you’d grown into adulthood with her under your care. It wasn’t easy but you wouldn’t change a thing.
As you took the ice cream and turned around to give Sophia hers, you realised she’d run off, yet again. With a heavy sigh you frowned in hopes she was close by, asking the people nearby if they’d seen her. Panic rose in your chest when they all said no with an apologetic look, the realisation that Sophia was just like you were you were her age.
Shouting her name, you looked at the pier and decided she’d most likely gone there, fascinated by the birds. In hopes she’d be there, you discarded the ice cream and looked around worried for her.
It took about 15 minutes for you to find her, near the next pier over. Her eyes lit up as she ran to you, smiling. She was beaming up at you, laughing. You’d questioned her and scolded her, telling her it wasn’t safe for her to run off like that. Sophia, being smart as she was, defended herself by saying she’d spotted someone who resembled her father and run to them. You disregarded her story until she frustratedly took your hand and led you to said person who was, to your surprise, already staring at you in shock.
You hadn’t seen his face in years and yet he still looked the same. He looked much sharper now of course, the clothing of Piltover being much more sophisticated than that of where you’d grown up in Zaun. It couldn’t be him, there was a one in a million chance you’d see him around. Despite your denial, it was, undeniably, him.
———.——————.———.——————.———
The undercity was tough for teenagers to live in. It was a miracle that you and Viktor had found each other at a young age, immediately becoming close. His interest in science and all things mechanical intrigued you since you were more of a creative mind.
It was nearing dusk and your mother had told you to be home before nightfall or your father would bring you home himself, barely able to finish her sentence before you’d run out the door straight after lunch. The air was warm as you explored, venturing off into the darker parts of Zaun.
You didn’t have many friends, being socially awkward yet somehow too much of an extrovert to strangers. The children didn’t want to befriend you so you found solace in your own company. Exploring alone and collecting random items you found on your way to make gifts for your parents always made you happy. It was a daily occurrence for you since your parents were often busy working and you didn’t have any siblings to play with.
As you excitedly ran along a stream, you stopped in time to realise there was a cliff. You gasped and looked down, noticing a solitary boy who seemed a little older than you. He noticed your shadow and looked up from his self constructed boat, turning the cog before looking back down. You smiled and rushed down, almost falling face first as you tripped on a pebble. The water splashed under your feet as you ran towards the boy. He looked at you confused as you sat cross-legged in front of him, beaming at him in curiosity. Introducing yourself and extending your hand to him, he tilted his head slightly and hesitated before you leaped forward excitedly and hugged him. Overexcited was most definitely an understatement for how you felt that day, but once he’d introduced himself, ‘Viktor.. it’s Viktor’, you’d never separated from him.
From that day on, you followed behind him, watching happily as he made his inventions. Sometimes Viktor would let you take them home and decorate them, smiling as you brought them along with you the next day for another day of exploring. For years you’d spend everyday with each other, growing inseparable.
Near to your 11th birthday, you’d shared your first kiss with Viktor. From that point, you’d blurred the lines between friendship and relationship for years, until at 14 you’d said yes to being his official girlfriend.
Viktor was two years older than you but you’d both ignored it, your connection keeping you together like glue. By 18 he decided he wanted to leave the undercity and go to Piltover. The conversation with you certainly wasn’t easy even as he begged you to come with him. It was easier for him, you’d said, since your parents wouldn’t let you go to Piltover at 16 with a newly turned adult. Sure you’d known him longer than you hadn’t, your decade long friendship turned relationship having the support of your parents. It still wasn’t that easy to allow a 16 year old to go to somewhere so aspiring as Piltover.
So as Viktor said his goodbye to you, heart heavy and shattered at leaving you behind, you gave him a flower made of metal scraps. Asking him to promise that he’d keep it forever and never forget, you’d let him go with a smile and a heart heavier than his own. That would be the last time you saw Viktor for almost another decade.
———.——————.———.——————.———
Sophia ran forward to the man once again, latching onto his leg. He had to stand straight once again from the slight impact of her running at him, but his eyes never left yours. He couldn’t believe it, there was no way it was you.
You rushed to Sophia, pulling her off his leg with an apology.
“Sorry.. she’s kinda wild today.. can’t keep her in control”
You laugh lightly, trying to believe it was just some stranger who resembled him. Though, up close, you realised it was undeniable. The same boy you’d fallen in love with as a child was standing before you, in a completely opposite setting to how you’d met.
He stood tall, though his cane forced him to lean over barely. His hair was more on the long side, brushing above his ears and parted clear of his eyes. His eyes, the beautiful amber shine of them that you’d always found the most intriguing part of him.
The silence was heavy and tense as you stood before each other, unable and unsure of what to say or where to start. The world seemed to pause around you, only pulling you out of a daze when Sophia tugged on your hand.
“See mommy? I told you I found Daddy!”
She once again beamed up at you, proud of herself for finding him.
“Viktor..”
Your voice was closer to a shaky exhale, the realisation crashing into you. He was unreadable, seemingly feeling every emotion possible yet none simultaneously. Neither of you knew how to feel, the lack of connection over the last few years filled with milestones neither of you expected to reach without the other.
Viktor was speechless as he looked between you and Sophia, the dots connecting in his mind. You’d shared your first before he left for Piltover and if what he suspected was true, then stood before him was his own daughter. But why would you ever keep something like that from him?
“Sophia sweets, why don’t you go and play close by where I can see you, hm? Me and daddy need to talk for a little while okay?”
You pinched her cheek softly as she nodded, running off with her bunny plush. Looking back up at Viktor, you let out a heavy exhale. He opened his mouth to say something, closing it once more to formulate a sentence. His voice was shaky with disbelief, relief, and pure joy all at once.
“If you’d told me, I never would’ve left you, or Zaun. I’ve missed you deeply every day since I left”
Viktor spoke softly, resting on his cane with a frown on his face. You felt all the guilt rise up in your chest the same way it did when you made the decision not to tell him before he left. Shaking your head slightly, you pushed your hair back and looked down briefly before looking back up at him.
He extended his arm to you, offering the same closeness you’d missed all these years. Without hesitation, you reached forward into his embrace, vision blurred by tears. The build up of emotions came crashing down as you wrapped your arms around his neck, burying your face into his shoulder. The silence was heavy with unexplained years between you.
“I didn’t want to hold you back from your dreams, Viktor. I know it was selfish of me to keep her from you but I thought it would be better, and for that I’m always going to be sorry”
Your words were filled with meaning and sincerity as you looked up at him, a guilty look on your face. Viktor understood your reasons, although he was upset that he wasn’t aware of his own daughter until six years later.
“How could I possibly be angry at you when you’ve given me such a beautiful family?”
He smiled gently at you as you pulled apart, looking at each other like there was no one else around.
Calling your daughter back over, she clung to Viktor’s leg, tugging as a way to ask to be picked up. He couldn’t say no, looking down and seeing his daughter. A girl that was a perfect blend of the two of you, something he was sure, with no doubt, was his greatest creation. Viktor hadn’t had the chance to catch up with you or even process the fact that you were here with him, a daughter that was his and yours. Despite that, he immediately understood that this is what he was meant for in his life, to be with you and your daughter.
———.——————.———.——————.———
Months passed by and you’d fallen into a comfortable routine. Viktor was often occupied with work at his lab with Jayce, so you’d take Sophia to see him in his lab for a few hours on random weekdays. Sometimes you’d drop her off in the morning or let Viktor take her with him and you’d collect her in the afternoon. Though more often than not, you’d stay until the evening when you practically begged Viktor to come home.
After years of separation, falling into a routine with such a drastic change was natural. Like this was always how it’d been, and how it was always meant to be. Your happy little family, reunited and together as fate deemed it your purpose.

I LIKE ME BETTER WHEN IM WITH YOU
Tumblr media
NICHOLAS CHAVEZ X SINGER!READER
a/n: hope u enjoy this one, it kinda came to me outta nowhere. lmk thoughts!!
word count: 2085
TO SAY you and Nicholas clicked immediately would be a understatement. The first time you’d spoken to him, you were in the lobby at the Golden Globes awards, both being nominees. Nicholas was up for his recent movie and you for that movie’s song you did that soared through the charts immediately after the movie premiered. Your fanbase had since almost tripled in size as had Nicholas’ fame. Both being thrown into fame seemingly overnight, you had something in common.
The internet had fallen in love with you and Nicholas as a pair after the awards show, a picture of the two of you blowing up on social media. You’d agreed to meet up for coffee a week after the awards, and paparazzi had bombarded you both suddenly, albeit their job, getting many pictures. It was you and him walking together, both smiling. The media had started saying you were dating, speculating a romantic beginning.
Neither of you had made any moves or spoken about the rumours, keeping it more or less ‘professional’ and strictly a ‘co-star friendship’. There was the small lingering glances, the light touches that lasted just a second longer than usual, the late night calls and giggles in either apartments during hangouts.
A few weeks after the Golden Globes, you and the actors of the movie went out to celebrate the success, enjoying the dimly lit restaurant. You sat a few seats across from Nicholas, caught mid conversation with one of the actresses towards the end of the night. Although you were distracted, Nicholas still caught your attention throughout the night and seemingly you’d consumed his, a stolen glance every few minutes.
Nicholas glances at you again, studying your facial features. He’s never seen you in this light before, face slightly flushed from the alcohol and giggling at jokes being made. Seeing you like this made Nicholas relax, content with being near you. He was definitely catching himself feeling a certain way about you, a way he’s never felt about anyone before. He was suddenly envious of everyone who knew you better than he did, wanting the same for himself.
The other actors chat with each other and laugh, but that wasn’t the case for Nicholas. He found his eyes constantly drifting back over to you. He had seen you as just a friend, someone he could goof around with or ask for advice at silly o’clock in the morning, but something’s changed. The longer he looks at you, the more he starts to fall.
About an hour later, everyone is getting ready to leave. You’re struggling to get your coat on while giggling, the flush on your cheeks more red as you hum.
Nicholas notices that you’re struggling, the alcohol blurring your vision slightly and making it difficult to keep your balance.
“Let me help you with that"
He says as he grabs your coat and carefully puts it on you for you, smiling to himself at your clumsiness.
Finding yourself acting like a teenage girl, you laugh a little and button your coat up, tucking your hair loosely behind your ear as you pick up your bag.
“oh thank you Nic”
He nods in response, gently placing a hand on your lower back and guiding you towards the exit. It sent a shiver down your spine and butterflies to your stomach, his light touch igniting a flame you didn’t know existed.
“Let me walk you to your car, I’ll drive you home. Don’t trust your clumsy ass to get yourself home safely”
He chuckled at his own words, shaking his head at you trying to protest against his offer.
“Nic, ‘m fine im not that tipsy”
You huffed out and tried to usher him away, failing as he picked up your bag and walked you out the door, waving goodbye to his costars.
The air was cold, biting at your skin as you pulled Nicholas to your car to avoid the coldness. You gave him your keys and rushed to the passengers seat, putting your seatbelt on and sighing at how it was somehow colder in your car than outside.
“You’re definitely more than tipsy. I’ve never seen you so giggly”
Nic says, keeping his eyes on the road as he pulls out and turns the heating on. He glances at you, noticing your eyes are already closing as you lull to sleep.
“I’ve never seen you stare so much in one evening”
He looks at you in shock for a second that you can still sense him staring from behind your closed eyes. He’s stunned you know he’s been staring. He coughs and sighs a little, focusing on the road ahead as he replies with a hint of nerves in his voice.
“What? No I haven’t..”
“mhm.. Micaela told me”
Your words slow as I relax, humming softly.
“ ‘nd I saw you looking”
He blushes a little and keeps his eyes on the road, embarrassed that you knew he was looking. He tries to play it cool and responds, resting his free hand on the clutch.
“Ah, of course she did..”
He glances over at you, seeing you relax against the window. It’s silent for a little bit before Nicholas finally speaks up.
“You tired?”
“mhm.. not a lot just dizzy”
You hum and glance over at him, shutting your eyes again once he nods.
“Of course you’re dizzy..”
Nicholas looks over at you before you’d notice, focusing back on the road
“You drank quite a bit tonight..”
“shhhh just drive”
Dismissing him, you laugh slightly and sigh contentedly as you fall into sleep, the warmth of the car inviting you to rest. It’s not long before you’re asleep, leaving Nicholas to his thoughts while driving the rest of the way.
It was small things like that night that made you realise; you were head over heels for Nicholas and you hadn’t even gotten the chance to contemplate it before he was off in California for filming. You lived in New York, having a studio nearby to your apartment for recording songs. Unimportant though, you were currently in London for a performance for a few weeks.
Despite your distance, you and Nicholas still spoke daily on the phone, often facetiming him while doing mundane tasks or rehearsing. He would go over his lines or read his script with you, laughing as you’d make fun of his silly lines.
He’d agreed to visit you and come to one of your shows, your final one that was meant to be the biggest one yet. It was in a week, so Nicholas would be able to get a few days off filming as they’d film other scenes. You got him the perfect space, telling him to visit you backstage after.
Come the time of the performance, you saw Nic front row as he beamed up at you with pride, singing along to almost all of your songs. Between your setlist, you took a break to interact with the audience, taking about 15 minutes of just talking to fans, laughing and trying to acknowledge all of the younger ones who’d attended, elated that your fan base was ranged so much.
While speaking to a fan front row, she’d asked about Nicholas, saying she noticed he was there and laughing as she raised her eyebrows asking if he was here as anyone special.
You’d laughed it off, telling them he was there for support and shrugging as you walked to him, waving at him and saying hello.
The night was over in a flash, each song and choreography flowing into the next, until it ended with an upbeat song, slowing to a close as you descended into the trap room below stage.
Nicholas was quick to make his way backstage, creeping up on you in a hallway and wrapping his arms around your waist from behind, squeezing you. Catching you off guard, you yelped and laughed as you recognised it was Nic.
“Nic oh my god you scared me”
You turned around and hugged him, happy to see him. He laughed softly at your reaction, resting his hand on the side of your waist, lifting his other hand and gently running his fingers through your hair.
“You look incredible…as always”
“thank you.. I feel ugh tho, that performance was kinda tough”
He gives you a sympathetic look, noticing how tired you looked. He lets his hand fall back to his side, his eyes on yours.
“Yeah, I can tell that it was. And you still killed it like a badass as always”
You led him back into your dressing room, sighing as you close the door and it’s quiet
“should we go out or something?”
You walk to your dresser and put your phone down, taking off the heavier parts of your outfit.
He leans against the wall near the door, his eyes landing on your outfit and then wandering along your body without realizing as he spoke.
“We can..if you don’t mind a few paparazzi being around”
Nicholas sighs, knowing it was going to happen anyway.
“Yeah they’ve been on my ass after every show.. maybe we can go out in the evening or something, or you can come over I don’t mind”
You bite the inside of your cheek and pack stuff back into your bag to take home, contemplating if Nic should just come over and you could order takeout.
He watches you pack your belongings for a moment before he speaks again, gazing at you from the sofa.
“I’ll come over. I’d rather not be harassed by the press right now, they’ve been hounding my ass enough already”
“Figures.. you know I’ve been meaning to finish that new show of yours, then I started touring and I don’t wanna watch it in the background.. it’s good y’know I’m impressed”
You turn back to him briefly before turning back around and opening a few drawers, looking around for something.
Nicholas smiles again, crossing his arms as he watches you look through your drawers.
“Don’t worry, I’m not offended. I know how busy you get when you’re on tour”
He speaks with a slight laugh, stepping away from the wall and walking over to you, curious as to what you’re looking for.
“Whatcha lookin for, babe?”
“erm.. just- my.. god where the hell..”
You tut and sigh turning around, fumbling with small random items on your dresser.
“….my keys”
Nicholas laughs slightly as he gets up, moving things around and helping you look.
You turn back around, opening the bottom drawer and sighing, taking out your keys and putting them in your bag with a grin.
“’babe’?, ‘s why people think we’re dating, Nic”
He rolls his eyes playfully and smiles back, stepping closer to you.
“People have thought that long before I called you babe”
He purred back with a tease in his voice, grabbing your hips and pulling you closer to him, now standing inches away from you. As he watches you closely, still holding your hips, he pulls you even closer, eyes flicking down to your lips for a moment before meeting your eyes again.
“But who says they’re wrong? Who says there isn’t any truth to the rumors?”
Nic spoke quietly, his voice slightly deep and his breath fanning on your lips.
The mood in the moment sent a buzz through your veins, humming as your arms draped over his shoulders.
“maybe, are we dating?”
His smirk only grows as you speak, his grip on your hips tightening slightly. He looks at you with a slight intense gaze, leaning his head to whisper in your ear.
“I don’t know…are we?”
He whispers in your ear and pulls you closer to him, your body now flush against his.
“mhm.. maybe”
Nicholas hums and wraps his arms around your waist, enjoying how you felt against him.
“Just maybe?”
Now whispering against your neck, his lips hover over your skin. He chuckles and moves his head, now pressing his lips against your neck and placing a soft kiss on your skin. He kisses your neck slowly, his lips then moving up to your jaw, trailing his kisses along you and finding the skin underneath your ear, knowing it was sensitive. A soft exhale escapes your lips, tilting your head as you rest in Nicholas’ arms, content with his company. He smiled as he pressed a quick kiss to your temple, humming as you relaxed into his hug.
Maybe ‘just friends’ wasn’t a title either of you wanted to share.

PRAY FOR ME
Tumblr media
Father Charlie Mayhew x reader
a/n: this might be a part one… I don’t know how to write for father charlie… dr. mayhew however 😏 anyways I’m mid writing for dr charlie so… ;) enjoy!
word count: 972
YOUR MOTHER had always taught you to seek God in all times of need. In the face of the devil’s temptation, sin, helplessness or anything that would stray one’s path from God. You’d go to mass every Sunday, following along with the words of the priest and often staying a little longer to pray. That was, until Father Mayhew became the new priest in your small town church.
He was immediately known for his looks and his young age, taking the attention of many young girls in your town. To their dismay, he was already devoted to someone, God. He was a man of the cloth, holy in his intentions and words, preaching the gospel as if his life depended on it.
You and Sister Megan were acquaintances to say the least, knowing her as she’d hang around in town, seemingly lingering in all the places you wouldn’t expect a nun to be near. Her quick mind and sharp tongue had her helping a detective- detective Lois, that was, in the shocking murders that were snaking through the town. It’d shocked you to your core, such violent acts in near your home leading your mother to believe the devil was returning himself to earth. A ‘warning’ , she’d said, panicked and confused.
“It is a warning from God and a message from the devil. It is the manifestation of all that is wrong with the world mustered up into an act of pure sin.”
Your mother had advised you to spend more hours in the church, in God’s house, in the presence of holiness. So you took her advice and made your way to the church after school hours, unsure of what to do other than pray.
As you made your way into the church, you made the sign of the cross, smoothing out your skirt and sighing at the warmth of it. There was no one in the pews, excluding Father Mayhew, who sat silently near the front seemingly lost in thought. It was only when the soft click of your shoes caught his attention that he turned and smiled, standing and greeting you warmly.
“Ah, apologies I didn’t hear you come in. Your mother came by earlier to let me know to expect you here”
He spoke softly, his eyes darting over your body as he noted your damp clothes from the rain outside. You nodded and shrugged, a quiet giggle leaving your lips as you tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear.
“Well yes, father, my mother told me I should come here instead of directly home as it’s closer and well, the days are getting shorter and much darker”
You avoided his gaze as you spoke, not wanting to bear the weight of it as his dark eyes almost bore into yours, however lacking of boredom, more filled with understanding and concern.
“Your mother is right in doing so, it’s not entirely safe for young girls to be walking home alone in darkness. Especially now with these.. acts of violence, consuming our town”
His words were smooth as he ghosted a hand by your lower back, guiding you to the front of the church to the altar. You were familiar with how it all worked, having been to mass every Sunday since you were young. You’d watched Father Mayhew deliver sermons weekly and gotten used to his powerful voice, almost caught in a daze as he spoke. You were no stranger to the allure of him to other women, but being a strict follower of God you never acted inappropriately, immediately asking God for forgiveness.
His voice was smooth as honey, his eyes dark and almost dangerous, his mannerisms pure and holy. This man was a sin in himself, ironically. A man claiming to be so devoted to God but he was just like any other man. He was no stranger to sin, he wasn’t always a priest. You noticed the way he spoke, his eyes betraying his words as his gaze lingered just a second too long on places forbidden to a priest.
“father-“ you turned to face him but he was quick to interrupt, correcting you
“no need, please, call me charlie”
You uttered a small ‘oh’ and nodded, turning back around and keeping your hands busy with the strap on your backpack, avoiding Charlie’s eyes. He ushered you to continue, sitting opposite you but still close.
“fa- I mean, charlie.. I feel as though I have strayed from God..”
Your voice was small as you picked at loose strings and crossed your legs at your ankles. Charlie nodded and leaned forward, placing a comforting hand on your knee and tilting his head.
“how so? I am sure God will forgive you, you are a good Catholic, no? I do see you attend mass every week, sometimes more than once per week”
His words were light as he smiled at you, leaning back and resting his hands crossed in his lap, focusing back on you as his lightheartedness seemed to have no uplifting effect on your mood.
“I feel as if I am doubting Him, Father.. I know He will protect me but in our town, such violent murders… I am very afraid, I must admit.”
“well, sweetheart, you can find comfort here, until your mother can drive you home. until then, why don’t you relax in my office hm?”
You nodded meekly and followed behind him, the soft click of your heels once again echoing in the church. You kept your head low and followed him to his office, your mind filling with questions and wonders that God would bring shame upon. So it brought shame to you, clearing your mind and cleansing your thoughts with thoughts of God. Perhaps it would be a very long few hours in Father Charlie’s company until your mother picked you up.

word count: 2,249 (yikes!)
IT WAS NERVE-WRACKING to see so many stars in the same room as you. It was a small award ceremony that some of the cast members of grotesquerie had been invited to, you and Nicholas included.
You’d known each other for a short amount of time, first meeting a week before shooting the opening episode. The friendship that blossomed was strong and you’d both been quick to take to each others company. From rehearsing lines between takes to getting dinner after a long day to going into town on days off.
The other cast members noticed it immediately, the chemistry between you two. But what you’d failed to notice was small things; glances your way, small gestures like leaving you a warm cup of coffee on colder days, always offering his help before anyone else. To you, it was just being friendly, the expectations of a close friendship. Nicholas understood very quickly that you hadn’t picked up on any hints and to him it was like a pin to his chest. Not heartbreaking, just slightly disheartening to his feelings for you.
He’d accompanied you on the way to the awards ceremony, sharing a limousine and offering his hand after opening your door. The cameras flashed as you were both flooded by photographers, Nicholas holding his hand out to block some of the flashes, mumbling a quick ‘you okay?’ as he led you into the building. You smiled at him and gently squeezed his bicep that you’d latched onto as guidance, nodding and replying with a slight laugh.
Nicholas had won an award before, so when your name was called as the winner, he’d smiled with pride, pressing his hand to your lower back and gesturing for you to go up. The shock was evident in your face, completely out of zone and abruptly pulled out of your stare as you stood up, smoothing out your dress and laughing nervously. Your cast mates clapped and congratulated you as you made your way to the stage, chuckling softly in disbelief.
“Thank you.. to everybody who made this happen..”
Your words blurred into a string of ‘thank you’s and mentions, making sure to mentally tick off everyone who deserved a mention. It was a short speech but it was meaningful as you spoke briefly about your cast mates and the crew.
“In particular, I would like to thank Nicholas.. I mean, it’s been a tough few months for both of us and filming this movie was definitely a challenge. Yet, every time I was struggling, Nicholas was already by me and offering help. I couldn’t have done this without you as my co-star, Nicholas, so thank you”
You focused on him in the crowd, smiling at him as you spoke, your words heavy with gratitude. His face softened as he smiled back, beaming with pride for you. The fact that you’d publicly spoken about how he was so much to you gave him hope. Maybe the feelings were there, you just didn’t know it yet.
You made your way back to the table, sitting back beside Nicholas and setting the award down on the table. You turned to him and smiled like a kid who just got ice cream, making him chuckle at your happiness. He adored you in that moment, infatuated with the way you smiled, the way your happiness lit the room. Nicholas was sure that there was no better feeling, that this was love.
He whispered a small ‘well done’ to you as you sat down, the host moving on to nominees for another category. You couldn’t stop smiling, looking at the small trophy you’d been given. All night, you’d kept your focus on the host and other winners, Nicholas had his eyes on you. The way your hair was flawless and stayed so the entire night, your makeup enhancing your features and your dress. God, your dress had kept his attention. One of your friends nudged him softly and gave him a knowing look, joking about it quietly to him.
After what seemed to be a dragging conversation, Nicholas made his way back to you, snaking between people and rushed greetings just to get to you.
“Hey, are you going now?”
His question made you jump slightly, not expecting him to be directly behind you. He laughed at your shock, resting a hand on your lower back and leaning forward to hear you clearer.
“Yeah but Micaela and I might go to eat something now because I’m starving, could eat a horse right now..”
You looked up at him and smiled, looking around briefly to see if Micaela was around. He hummed and nodded, tilting his head slightly and standing straight up.
He wanted to come with you, to spend more time with you, but he knew it’d be rude to invite himself. When you spotted Micaela, you ushered her over with an excited smile. She smiled back and linked your arm with hers, stealing you from Nicholas with an unserious ‘sorry’. He was taken aback but you’d turned around and gave him a polite kiss to his cheek as a goodbye. It was the smallest gesture but it lit him on fire as he watched you wave and walk away with Micaela.
It wasn’t until later that night, close to 2am, that he’d get a phone call. It didn’t wake him up; he was still wide awake seemingly unable to get himself to sleep. He sighed and turned onto his stomach, answering the call without properly checking who could possibly be calling him at such a time. Pressing his ear to the phone, he mumbled a ‘hello?’, already done with whatever conversation he was about to have.
“nickkk, are you awake?”
What Nicholas was not prepared for, was your voice on the other end. Your greeting was slurred and interrupted by a hiccup, giggling at yourself. He’d only just answered the call and could tell you were drunk.
“yeah- I’m up.. you all good?”
He sighed and hoped you were with Micaela and not a random guy you’d just met or worse- stumbling around by yourself in the dark. He assumed you were calling to ramble, something you’d done before and ended in tears in Nicholas’ apartment.
“mhm, I’m kinda… lost..?”
You hiccuped again, the sound of you dropping your phone abruptly cutting through the quietness. Nicholas mentally face palmed and knew he’d have to pick you up, although he wasn’t complaining about it. He got up with a huff, stretching his arms and picking up his phone.
“send me your location, can you manage that sweetheart?”
His voice was smooth as he smiled at your clumsiness, hoping you weren’t too drunk.
“mkay.. how do I- on messages?”
You mumbled to yourself, your voice further as you fumbled to send Nicholas your location. His phone buzzed with a message from you, your location. You weren’t far from him and it would be a 15 minute drive max. It was still dark out though, so Nicholas grabbed a coat and picked up his keys as he opened the door and walked to the car.
“I’ll be there in 15 minutes, stay outside a shop or something with people around okay?
You responded with a small ‘mkay..’ and hung up, Nicholas getting into his car with a shiver as the cold hit him like ice. As his car started, he set his phone in its place in front of him and made sure to turn on the heating, warming the car up enough for you.
It was a quick 15 minute drive and Nicholas spotted you immediately, standing out significantly in your flowing dress and high heels. He tutted to himself at how poorly you were dressed for this weather, glad that he was wearing a coat you could wear. Nicholas parked his car outside the shop, not catching your attention as he walked up to the front of it.
“hey, ‘re you feeling okay?”
He crouched down to level with you, placing a hand on your upper arm and immediately feeling how cold your skin was. He sighed quietly and took his coat off, wrapping it around you. It took you a moment to register it was Nicholas but when you did, you smiled and nodded, standing up using him for support. Your hand gripped his bicep as you steadied yourself, humming as you did so.
“thank you.. f’ coming, didn’t have to”
Your voice was quiet but less slurred, as the cold had most likely brought a slither of sobriety to you. Nicholas hummed and held your arm in his, looking down to you briefly as he guided you back to the car.
“It’s 2 in the morning, of course I had to pick you up. Can’t have you wondering all alone in this state, can we now?”
He opened the door for you, patting your arm softly and shielding your head from hitting it against the car as you slid into the seat. You sighed at how warm it was, snuggling yourself into his coat and pulling your seatbelt over yourself while Nicholas walked around to the drivers side.
The ride home was steady and slow, small conversation between the two of you as he asked about what happened, tutting as you explained how Micaela had to leave early and you’d been left on your own to drink. Although you admitted; you probably shouldn’t have drank the amount you did, it was better than going home having drank nothing at all. Shortly, Nicholas parked outside your apartment building, sighing and smiling at you.
“Do you need me to walk you up?”
To this you shook your head, feeling better as you’d drank water and your head had cleared up enough for you to support yourself. He always offered his help and you always wondered why. Shrugging it off, you sighed and got out, walking around to his side of the car as he rolled his window down.
“Thank you, Nicholas. Always saving me like a knight in shining armour, I’m a damsel in distress huh?”
You both laughed as he nodded, joking lightly. It wasn’t something he ever complained about, he was always up to help you. You weren’t sure why it had hit you like a brick now of all times, but it did. The idea that Nicholas might’ve been more than just friendly to you lit a lightbulb in you brain. You leaned against the window frame and stared at him briefly, a sharp inhale giving away your shock. Nicholas wasn’t following your train of thought but he picked up on your expression.
You debated whether to act on it then and there or leave it for another day, perhaps a day in which your head was clear. The pull towards the latter weighed heavily on your mind even for a second, feeling unsure if you’d even remember this sudden realisation. You felt guilt run through your chest as you looked at Nicholas. Suddenly, you noticed it too, just as your costars had. The look in his eyes- the look of love, adoration. Then the second gear churned in your brain, you’re drunk and not thinking clearly. Although it may have been clear in that moment, you weren’t prepared to make a decision that could change your friendship if you were wrong. Sighing heavily, you smiled at him and stepped back, taking off his jacket and putting it in the backseat.
“Good night, nick. I’ll see you sometime soon hm?”
You crossed your arms in an attempt to redeem the warmth you had moments ago, your bag drooping over your shoulder. Disappointment filled Nicholas’ chest as he accepted that tonight was no different, maybe it was you silently telling him you didn’t want a change. He nodded with a tight lipped smile, waving rigidly as he watched you turn and disappear into your apartment building. As soon as you were out of sight, Nicholas scoffed at himself and turned the car back on, quiet music filling the silence. He watched your building for a few minutes, thinking to himself. When he saw your door open and close, he knew you’d gotten home safely and drove off.
Maybe you and him would always be friends, costars. Likely you’d stay that way. It wasn’t easy for Nicholas to think that, but it felt better than chasing after something so unpredictable yet so unlikely. So he drove home, without you to come home to. That was the reality, no matter how many times you’d play each others love interests. You weren’t living in a fairy tale world where the guy gets the girl, to which Nicholas accepted and came to terms with. You were friends, so you’d always stay friends.

I had to come on here bcs I’ve just gotten off instagram after seeing Nicholas’ new post. if you don’t know- (it’s a massive spoiler for the show grotesquerie, so if you don’t want spoilers don’t check!!) but seriously why are people so soft nowadays?
I’m not talking about all the menendez brothers’ things, but Nicholas posted a video dancing… guys please calm down he’s dancing, not mocking who he’s dressed as. 9/10 comments I read were along the lines of ‘I can’t defend this man anymore’ or ‘okay you’re getting unfollowed’. First of all, it’s not your job to defend him. Second of all, don’t feel the need to comment that you’re unfollowing somebody, of all people someone who has been catapulted into fame.
Now im not saying that Nicholas is in no way to blame, I believe in accountability- wholeheartedly. But I also don’t think it’s at all necessary to be throwing all this hate to him. He’s blown up on social media overnight, so you’d think yeah, he probably doesn’t know how to act in public.
In regard to that video, let’s focus the negative energy to Ryan Murphy please, that man may be able to direct better than most but I don’t think he deserves all the praise. He dehumanised the Menendez brothers and twisted their case for entertainment- not okay. Yes, grotesquerie is an amazing show, yes AHS is an amazing show. But let’s separate the man from his works, and hold him accountable too.
Society is only getting worse and people are getting softer- can we please fix the system?
